“Huh....? What....? Isn’t.... that....... strange.....? Why...... was.... I........?”
In truth, those were not the last few words Mukuro wanted to be remembered by, but her ultimate betrayal at the hand of her sister, is something fierce, that shocked her enough to get that sort of treatment before the soldiers trachea gave out. The Guttural noises made trying to climb from the spears pierced in her wern't much words to go by, nor the humiliating gasping and groaning made trying to escape the prison of in a way her own demise, lead up to her inception in Ganessia.
Mukuro swiftly passed out in defeat, breathing heavily in a trail of viscera just waiting to keel over and die. Yet, despite her overwhelming sense of defeat, a sense that was thought to be repressed to a near nonexistent fate, she found herself alive once more . Despite awakening alive, all her artificial brainwashed memories, were all but a null. She looked around the strange egg like containment chamber. It was padded in a silky furnishing, and she noticed she was in her normal clothing, feeling cold but still freshly garbed, as well as a cobble of things against her chest. A smartphone of sorts, A necklace of opal orbs and gold string, A bronze key with a number tied to a ribbon of bills, and most notably a pamphlet. Since the chamber still seemed to be closed, Mukuro read it in the confines of her containment.
It presented her with a suspiciously zealous "Welcome to Genessia.", going on to explain how to use the cellphone that had been given, which seemed very pointless in her eyes considering the circumstance, the Necklace being fitted to her size, as well as its purpose of transport, the currency's value and a note encouraging the solider to get a 'job' or other employment, and the key to her room in the temporary "Commonplace". The nature of Mukuro's arrival, and the rather isolated environment had her slightly perplexed.
"Is this a prison state? A Quarantined area?" Mukuro whispered as she picked up the key and attempted to run it along the walls of the pod looking for a seam. Two things happened in rapid succession. One, Mukuro noticed the key had her name etched into the other side of the brass . Second, She discovered a seam beneath the cushion that sounded like it was jammed by the weight of her body. When she creaked over to double check the key, it seemed to whirr and grind open with a gear like mechanism.
Mukuro's mouth went ajar when she bore witness to the strange... cave? "You can't be serious..." She said out loud as the solider rested her feet against the moist, yet smooth, rocky floor. Mukuro assessed the unusual situation as best she could in her groggy state. There was water, and it smelled fresh, but she couldn't pin If it was pumped or natural within the dark light, a light at the end of the cavern, of which there was 4 from her visible position, which seemed to barely emit out the sound of paper blowing in the wind, but no signs of other life, and of course, despite hoping otherwise, several opened and closed pods.
Against her better judgment, the ink black haired woman clanked her bare knuckle against one of the closed pods, to which a purple gas spritzed out from the bottom. Quickly covering up her lip and nose, she fumbled back to avoid the trap, but ended up stumbling back into the pod she arrived in "Great.. looks like they have their priorities." Mukuro grumbled, waiting for the gas to dissipate before standing back up and walking toward the lip of the creek.
Once she reached the end of the stream, and subsequently the light leading to the outside, I took the liberty of confirming what water was down here, and luckily, it was good old rainwater. The woman knelt down and splashed some on her freckled face, half to keep herself focused, and half out of paranoia that the gas was contact toxic instead of respiratory toxic. After a deep breath to keep herself composed, she ventured outside.
The calm empty street and single sidewalk seemed like a jarring whiplash to the recovering solider. The exterior of the cave seemed to be about 5 Kilometers long, almost as if it was carved out of a mountain. There was a small forest adjacent to me across a paved street that went on for a short while toward a gas station to the right, and a straight run to the forest to the left. Also to the left was a random news rack, which had fliers blowing in the wind as she suspected.
As Mukuro walked up to the stand, she couldn't help but hear a crackle and buzz, like a CRT turning on, only to realize that there was a pedestal with several screwed steel plates hiding presumably the internals.
A translucent video appeared of a white haired lady who seemed to be no doubt ripped straight from an amusement park. That was, of course, until she started talking.
~~~~~~~~~
After sitting through the explanation for a few minutes, Mukuro wasn't sure how to feel. Clearly she was still alive, at least, as far as her perspective or the world was concerned, but frankly the feeling of an unknown operation made her skin crawl to an almost bone chilling level. Mukuro wasn't really one to get scared per say, but like anyone, she had fears, and after what the solider had just survived, the unknown was very much one of them.
Of course, by the look of the map and where she was , based on geographical architecture, Mukuro was at least a few hours of walking away from the aforementioned commonplace. So, with no other rational place to go, She walked toward the gas station, hoping maybe there was someone who can lend her a ride or where to get 'public transport', or at the very least, a knife to fill the void that was taken from her upon arrival.
Mostly the latter, after all, She was, and will always be in her mind, The Super High School Level Soldier.
First Act, I think...
But as he's walking to a cafe to take a break from his GSRF job for a while, he notices a young woman is holding a map of Genessia. Thinking that she might need some help, he approaches the woman with a smile on his face.]
Can I help you?
Re: First Act
"Yes, pardon my bluntness... let alone sounding like a psychopath... but do you know where I can find a bus or a combat knife. I'm a bit new here and I'm missing a few of my customs..." She said gripping the side of her arm nervously. Must she really look like a madwoman asking for a knife as the first thing she said? But, it would be helpful for her, even if it did risk painting her once again as a villain.
Re: First Act
I don't know where you can buy a combat knife, but I do know where the nearby bus stop is.
Are you new in this city?
Re: First Act
"Yes, I just got here... I am Mukuro Ikusaba. I am the Super High School Level solider and a former administrator of the Western Mecca Fenrir Corps branch . I'm in as much field of combat as you are in your scientific study, If that is the correct assumption." Mukuro said with a bob of her head.
Hopefully this would bounce back from her awkward first impression.
Re: First Act
My name is Augustine Sycamore and as you can guess, I'm a Pokemon Professor.
I know you want to ask about my occupation, but I have to ask: What is Super High School Level Soldier? Is it your title back in your school or something?
Re: First Act
"Yes, I was a high schooler but I..." She trailed off, her mind fuzzy with the blanked memories, either repressed or deliberately lost due to the transfer. "...Graduated in a sense." Mukuro Lied, sweating a bit as she strained to fill in the gaps. "I went to a school full of ultimate talents, and judging by the introduction this world has given me, I wouldn't be surprised if there is at least one other who has gone to Hope's Peak." Mukuro said, scratching her head.
It had only just dawned on her that with all the people mucking around in this melding pot, that there was the slight chance of running into someone she had inadvertently killed by her sisters will. The thought made her face grow pale, as she tried to strategize on the spot for the possibility that may not even be true.
Re: First Act
He really needs to know more about other worlds if he can meet with new arrivals like her.]
Well, I haven't met anyone who went to your school yet, but I'm impressed that you were able to attend a prestigious school full of talented students.
Re: First Act
Re: First Act
Well, I can guess that you already read the pamphlet and the welcome message, but I can tell you about the other cities nearby and the strange phenomena happening sometimes.
Re: First Act
"All right, I have enough time and place to kill, tell me what you know as a man of science about this place." She said placing a hand on her hip and staring down the professor.
Re: First Act
Other than Genessia City, there are four other cities that you can access through the archways. While I haven't visited the other cities, I did visit Nova City, which is filled with technological marvels you won't see in this city.
And while I only witnessed one phenomenon, but there seem to be strange events that happened most of the cities. While some of these events happened because of a criminal, others said it happens out of nowhere.
Re: First Act
"Right, then if you would be so kind to take me to where the commons are, I think I can do my best to start my life here as best I can. Seems though I have a lot of ground to cover." Mukuro said with a cross of her arms and smirk of anticpation.
Re: First Act
Okay. Now that I think about it, maybe if we walk there, we might able to reach the commons without taking the bus. But if you still want to take the bus, I won't stop you.
Re: First Act
Re: First Act
A few minutes later, Sycamore manages to lead her in front of the Genessia Commonspace, which his former home before he moved to Garden Parks Apartment.]
Here we are. I know you already read the pamphlet, but I can remind you that you can only stay there for one month. So in a mean time, you might spend your time to find a job in here so you can stay in a permanent residence.
Re: First Act
"I think I can find something by then." Mukuro nodded. "Thank you." She explained, clicking the key into her temporary home and waving the Professor off.
Re: First Act
[As he sees her entering the commons, Sycamore hopes that Mukuro managed to find some comfort to his new home as he leaves the Commonspace to continue his way to a nearby cafe.]
Second Part
She had even left her games at home for the time being, they weren't need when she was just going to go to the store and grab some groceries. As she entered the gas station she had gone to look at the various snacks that were available, checking to see if they had her favorite for the moment being.
Glancing over, she couldn't help but notice the other briefly. "You look a little lost."
Second Action
"N...No I!" She said sweating awkwardly at the encounter. "This is just the only place I am familiar with to gather groceries." The solider said, looking to the ceiling, sweating frivolously. "T..Tell me. You look like someone I've met before, but looks have deceived me far before in this world, what is your name?" She asked, subconsciously praying she did not encounter who she thought she had.
Second Action
When she couldn't see it, she assumed that it had sold out and so her focus was back on the other. "My name is Chiaki Namani. Though, I can say we've never met as far as I know."
Re: Second Action
"Mukuro Ikusaba, are you new here as well?" She questioned, holding out a hand to shake, as a greeting of respect, hoping to get on the good side of the gamer, and not in a schmoozy way, but with whatever newly returned emotion she still retained from the transfer.
Second Action
She went to hold out her own hand to shake the others. "It's nice to meet you. Though with that question it must mean your new and might not have gone to the welcome center yet, right?"
Re: Second Action
There was a lot more to take in than she realized, but she figured if anyone was going to be her guide, it was going to be the very person who she had inadvertently planned to send to their demise. "If you are not to busy, would it be to much to ask to take me there?"
Second Action
"I will be happy to show you. It's the only thing I can really do to help, but it's still something."
Re: Second Action
Re: Second Action
"I do. I work in an arcade in Nova City and work as a professional gamer as well." Because you might as well stick with what ones talent is, at least to her anyway. It was something she was good at so it was easy to do, plus it was fun at the same time.
"People usually work with what they know here, some try and find that. It depends on what you want."
Re: Second Action
No mater how hard she shrugged it off she felt some sort of connection to her, barring the fact they were both strung to their deaths by the same puppetmaster. "For that matter... there's something I wanted to say to you in private, now that we left the store..." She gulped nervously tugging on her collar.
Re: Second Action
"Also one can do freelance, which is less money, but you set your own rules in a way." It wasn't long before she stopped, head looking over. Now they had left the store and while there were people walking around? She was wondering what it was all about.
"In private? What do you want to tell me? I mean once we actually find a place with less people."
Re: Second Action
Now I guess was a time to act. Her face grew into a look of forced memento "Look, I guess what I mean is I was worried to admit it. I don't know what kind of memories you had but you remind me... no... you are a dead ringer of someone I had come in contact with when I was still in my place of origin." She explained, placing a palm on her shoulder with a stiff monotone voice. "Do you... by chance remember anything before you got here?"
Re: Second Action
Which at this moment in time was probably a really good thing at least. Mostly because of the subject matter she was going to be talking about anyway.
"Of course, I remember quite a bit... though I'm not a fan of the last thing I do remember though." She shivered slightly at the thought, a nice little reminder of the fact she had no where else to go now and that she still was unaware of what happened to her friends.
"I assume you asked to make sure if I was or not, right?"
Re: Second Action
So confirmed her suspicion, she was indeed the catalyst. Holding no more uncertainty, she wiped her eyes and stood up with a sigh. "With my apologizes, its been a while since I have shown any serious emotions." The solider explained, clutching her fist firmly. "As long as I hold this blade, I am in debt to you, weather you realize it fully or not." She said, pounding her fist against her chest like an animal.
"Yeah, probably overwhelming to realize that I was one of the masterminds, even if it wasn't in my own consciousness... I... I spread the brainwashing to her, I was an accomplice to the pink haired girl, please, forgive me for the past, I have my will back to make the better judgment now." She said easing up her fingers and fidgeting them by her side. Her heart was pounding violently, and her face unsure of what expression to make, a smile twitching in and out from a frown played out waiting for a response.
Re: Second Action
But she couldn't help but see that perhaps the apology was sincere. She did mean it, so it wasn't like she could be angry, right? "It... is admittedly overwhelming and a lot to take in as you said, but I like to believe that you do mean what you say... Though don't use the blade on anyone then we should be okay."
She had gone quiet again, if only for a moment. "As for other people from our world... there were a couple of my friends, but they have since gone home... I think. I don't really know what happens to people who vanish here."
Re: Second Action
What WOULD happen to someone who had died returns. Herself? Nanami? It was a hard pill to swallow, but Mukuro decided to take a deep breath and repress the thought.
"Listen what I am saying is, you suggested a body guard, and frankly I don't need a lot of pay or place to stay. You have a decent paying job, so if it would not be to much to ask, would you mind if after my month accommodation, or sooner, we could share a room and accommodations?" She explained with a reassuring smile.
"I can give you a cut of my bounty payments once I prove my worth, and you won't be 'disappearing' any time soon under my watch." The solider said with a wink and holding a palm out.
Re: Second Action
She paused for a moment, she did already have a place which she paid for, she seemed okay in having someone else over, more so since she was going to give her the benefit of the doubt since she did say sorry.
She was nodded slightly, she was okay with the idea. "Sharing will be fun. I'll even show you my game collection." She said happily as she extended her hand to take the others. She was rather excited to be able to have a room mate, even if it would take ten minutes to show her collection.
Re: Second Action
"You will not regret it I promise you." The solider said bowing her head. "I can move in whenever you're ready. All I have is a knife and a life sized teddy bear I won from a newspaper contest... unless you want me to sell or donate that to save space." She blushed, having not planned long term for such a large item she had gotten out of boredom.
But, to have not only peace of mind, but a place to stay while she seeked out bounties was an undoubtedly fortunate experience. Perhaps her stay here would be more of a redemption than a repention.
Re: Second Action
She placed a finger against her chin as she continued to ponder over things for a moment. "I guess I should show you my place first." She moved her heels slightly towards the direction she needed to go in.
"It's this way. Might take us a while though."
Re: Second Action
"Don't worry about time, It's not like I have anywhere else to go." She said looking around and reaching into her pocket, pulling out her pendant and spinning her necklace around her wrist. "Though, I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say your in a secluded place, aren't you?" Mukuro questions as she walks along into a more residential part of the city.
Re: Second Action
"I live in an apartment complex, so there are others in the building, but I do live alone."
Re: Second Action
Second Action
"Unless you want to see sooner rather than later."
Re: Second Action
Re: Second Action
"I kind of forgot about that. I should really do something for when it comes up." As to what, she didn't know what yet.
Re: Second Action
Re: Second Action
"This is my apartment."
Re: Second Action
"Th..This is your's?" She said wiping her face and standing in awe. "I mean, I'm not complaining I j...just am so surprised at how spacious it is." She said cautiously walking around and observing the countless shelves of games and consoles, more in awe at the view out the window and rather spacious apartment she could spread her wings out without fear of her sister or her platoon to bug her about space.
Re: Second Action
She didn't think she could fill it with games anyway, maybe places to perhaps sit, maybe a dining table in one of the areas. She didn't know. What she did know was she at least had a couch and a television for the most part.
Re: Second Action
Re: Second Action
"We can go shopping for that when you want to, but yes I am glad we worked something out."
