Valentine's Date
Who: Sakuya Izayoi, Xander
What: Dating auction date
Where: Fayren, going outside town
When: Valentine's Day
Warnings: n/a
Valentine's Day. Xander had never heard of anything like this in his world, but the concept was not exactly complex. It was a day set aside for dating. Simple enough. And it wasn't like Xander was unfamiliar with courtship, either.
As for Sakuya, he wasn't entirely sure if he wanted to pursue a relationship with her. He'd have to figure that out. But the main reason why he had bid on her was to make sure she was able to enjoy herself.
Originally, Xander had considered taking her horseback riding. However, the weather was a little too chilly for that, so he found a plan B. He asked Sakuya to meet him at his office at 5:00, when he wrapped up for the day, and they would go straight from there. Xander had discovered that there was a celebration in the Ylisstol subarchway for the holiday, and the weather there was milder than it was in Fayren, so he had made that the intended destination.

She ignored the receptionist's yelp of surprise as her appearance was finally noticed, checking her watch once before ensuring it was safely put away in her pocket. She honestly had no idea what they would be doing, and she was both very nervous and looking forward to it. Xander's bid was honestly the most ideal outcome for the valentines auction. Especially since she hadn't signed up for it willingly. She just hoped she could impress.

Xander came to a stop and scanned the reception room, spotting Sakuya in a matter of seconds. When he did, he smiled -- different from the polite smile he usually used.
"I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long, Sakuya. Are you ready to go?"
no subject
"Not at all. I arrived at 5 exactly." She offered a smile, a bit less guarded than she normally was around people. "And I'm ready whenever you are, but please do not feel you must rush on my account."
no subject
"No rush. I'm ready to leave now. Come, let's get going."
With that, he led the way out of the reception room, down to the ground floor, and out of the building. There was no horse or carriage waiting for them, as the subarchway to Ylisstol was easy to reach from the Guardian's tower by foot.

She fell into step beside him, the only sound aside from her heels was the gentle clinking of her watch chain whenever she stepped with her right foot.
She had never been to the Ylisstol sub archway. In fact, she didn't even know there was one since she spent the majority of her time in either Everglade or Genessia City proper. Though she did feel rather at home in Fayren considering the technology level in her home of Gensokyo was. She had little doubt she would love where she was being taken.

Might as well see what Sakuya knows while they walk toward their destination.

She could only guess but since, as far as she knew, the only main archways were the same five as when she arrived, it had to be a sub... either that or a place within the archways. Though she had never heard of that being the case.
"Honestly I haven't the slightest idea what you have planned. What kind of place is this Ylisstol?"
no subject
Xander fell silent for a bit as he walked, thinking of a way to describe it.
"It's not unlike this place, or even my own realm. However, the people there are typically far more jovial than they are here, and they're celebrating a local festival at the moment."
no subject
Despite her calm demeanor about the whole thing, she had quickened her step just a little. Clearly a festival had been the correct choice if her behavior was anything to go by.
"I will not lie. I have a weakness for the festival foods in Gensokyo. I can't help but wonder if these will be similar in any way."
no subject
"It's been entirely too long since I've been able to enjoy a festival, myself. This should be a treat for the both of us."
no subject
"To be perfectly honest I've never been to anything but the festivals in Genessia." She landed and turned forward once more, easily falling into stride next to him. Perhaps she was showing off again or perhaps she was simply that happy. It was difficult to tell.

Even when Sakuya landed, he kept silent. He hadn't been expecting anything of the sort. Fortunately, they arrived at the subarchway within a minute or so.
Xander came to a stop and motioned to the subarchway with his hands. "After you."
no subject
She did pause as they arrived at the archway though, blinking once and looking a little surprised. She probably wasn't used to people inviting her to go first considering her status as a maid. She almost argued but managed to bite her tongue at the last moment, hiding it with a graciously bowed head.
"You are too kind Xander." Before smoothly stepping through the portal.

The subarchway let out within a short side street within the city. Immediately upon entering, the festivities could be heard. It was a beautiful day, and the main market street was bustling with great activity. On top of it all, the buildings were decorated with hearts of varying sizes and shades of red and pink.
"Well? Does this look good to you?"
no subject
"Indeed it does." She had quickly regained her composure. "Tis truly a place of merrymaking and fun. Such things are infectious."
The only issue was she had no idea what anything in this festival was. Best to let Xander take the lead then. "So what shall we partake in first? I am quite eager to see what this festival has to offer."
no subject
Xander looked around. Just from where they were standing, he could see various booths for both food and carnival games. There were lots of couples around, too.
"Shall we start by finding something to eat?"
no subject
"Yes. Finding food would be a good place to start. I'm sure we will see plenty of the festival while we search."
no subject
With that, Xander began to walk, slowly until he was sure Sakuya was walking right beside him, then returning to his normal walking speed. It only took about a minute to reach the food stalls. He let Sakuya order what she wanted first, then he opted to try a sandwich they were offering made of melted cheese and chopped steak. When the attendant rang them up, he paid the bill for the both of them.

She actually had a hard time ordering. Frowning, she looked through the choices several times before settling on something sweet. Some sort of light and fluffy cake with entirely too much icing. She would be licking her fingers more than once.
The silver haired maid couldn't help but nibble on the corner of it the moment it was given to her. It was full of cinnamon and she was always looking for more excuses to use her favorite spice.
"So, what would you like to do or see first?" She would let him take the lead for now.

For now, they'd be window shopping. At least until they had eaten their food. But hey, it's something to do.
