I-I learned how to do something new!

[He was already excited when he popped up on the video. The area was woodsy, right in front of a pond. A nice place to play around with water magic.

With relative ease he summoned up a glob of water, letting it float in front of him. That, of course, was easy peasy. No trick to that.

Then, concentrating, he lifted up his staff and carefully cut through the water with it, creating an outline. He didn't have the ability to do two different things with the water using his mind, so he physically reached out to push the excess water away from his drawing when he was done, until all that was left was the floating outline of of bunny.]

A-All you have to do is summon water, th-then draw a bunny, and move away all the non... non-bunny parts.

[He was so happy. He was studying hard, he promised, Trahearne.]

[Trahearne was so proud, look at him learning! He'd always been confident that Bracken would improve, no question there. It was nice to see him able to do something more, still... even if it was just making bunnies. He was smiling, pleased, when he appeared on the video.]

Impressive, Bracken, I take it you've been working hard on practicing your water magic?

[Ah, there was a familiar face that he loved. He nodded enthusiastically.]

I-I've been trying... I'm... I'm still not sure how to make it m-make people better, but I'm really good at m-moving it around.

I never needed to, to do that at home.

[So he'd never really tried much.]

Another elementalist? [Telsen looked excited, he'd been too nervous to see what all kind of magic people knew here.]

Wait! Let me try!

[Telsen set the phone down and backed up enough so it could capture his hands too. A faint mist lingered around him. He cupped his hands in front of him and a small globe of water formed in the air. He stared down at it, concentrating hard. He moved his hands around it, trying to get it to go like he wanted.]

This is hard- Ah! There!

[He put his hands into a heart shape and the water reluctantly changed to a lumpy version of the intended shape. He tried.]

Every bit of practice helps, I would imagine. Healing often takes precision, getting it to obey you more precisely will be useful. I would hope so, anyway.

[He wouldn't know. Most elementalist healing he was used to involved getting rained on. Or breathed on by a very cold mist.]

Can you make it move and retain that shape?

[Good enough! He watched intently, very interested in what Telsen was doing. He was even leaning forward as if that would help him see the screen better.

Perhaps it was lumpy, but he wasn't exactly the most judgmental person. No, he was more excited to have someone else to draw cute water pictures with, so he was practically beaming.]

Th-That's really good! You're a mage, t-too?

['Elementalist'... Not exactly what he called it, but mages did use the elements.]

S-So they're like mages?

[He smiled softly. Maybe that's just what mages were called on another world.]

Maybe... Do... Do they use the o-others elements, too?

[He always believed 100% what Trahearne said, whether the other man was confident or not. So, he was glad to hear that this was good practice. If he kept trying and got better, maybe he'd be healing soon.

Trahearne's suggestion was a more difficult one. Moving the water wasn't a problem. Moving it and maintaining a certain shape... well, one could imagine how difficult water could be to work with like that.

Concentrating on it, he pushed it to the side. It moved in a way that was much like shoving water across the table, with not all of the bits wanting to go along with it. Maintaining the shape somewhat, he physically interfered and pushed bits of water along and nudged pieces back in place.]

W-Water likes to move around.

The... The force...?

[He'd heard of the word, but he had no idea what he was talking about and was wondering if it was something he should have known.

So his answer was anxious, worried he was asking something stupid.]

L-Like... the 'police force'?

Um, yeah, clo-close enough. [Mage was a general term, yeah?]

I prefer air magic but, um, yeah, water is good too. What all can you do? [The "heart" wobbled and he froze it to keep it steady, grabbing it before it fell. He held it up with a nervous smile.]

I haven't really, uh tried this much though, shaping it.

Ha, yes, it doesn't like to go where you wish it to. It's quite a willful element then?

[Again... he wouldn't know. Necromancy was pretty far from Bracken's mage talents.]

Have you learned anything less lately? I'm glad you've been working hard on this.

I-I like fire, but you have to be careful n-not to set everything on fire here.

I... I mostly use wind, water, f-fire, earth and lightning.

[There were some other small things he could do, but those didn't represent the bulk of his spells. Nor were they generally 'powerful'.]

I-I just tried to draw r... re... recently. Because I playing with the water when I was b-bored.

[He nodded. That was a better word to describe it than he could come up with.]

N-Not too much yet. I've been playing with it wh-when I'm home from work.

[Which didn't take long to get to. He was practically always home.]

I-I just thought, I thought if you can move things around, y-you can draw with them, right?

O-On my world, there's lots of people who use m-magic.

[A simple statement, but with a small grin and a smidgen of confidence that he usually didn't show, he added.]

B-But my magic is the strongest.

I don't see why not! Well, I haven't seen too many come to that conclusion, it's a very interesting way to use your magic. Do you intend to expand on this skill in particular?

I quite enjoy your art, in this form as well. [He totally had his christmas presents framed and hanging in his room.]

Fire's a pain like that. Good for keepin' warm yeah? [Who needed a sweater when you could just attune to fire and be good? Okay sylvari didn't need sweaters but that wasn't the point.]

So drawing with water? What about... Hrm, if you're not going to set the whole place on fire, y'could do wood burning drawings. I've seen art done like that!

[He flushed. Art was one of the things he felt good about, so it made his heart flutter when he was complimented for it. Besides art and magic, there was very little else that he felt he could compete with anyone else on, so he was very proud of those two things.

It encouraged him to experiment further so that he could show Trahearne something more impressive.]

I-I will! I think maybe I-I can do it with other elements, t-too. Water was the easiest to t-try, though.

P-People draw with fire?

[Now that piqued his interest. His two skills combined, along with using his favorite element. He was more than happy to experiment with new techniques.]

I... I guess if I was c-careful, I could do that!

[Oh. Oh boy. Besides magic? That was pretty much his thing. His expression dropped for a moment as he tried to think of something else.]

I-I... draw, sometimes.

[telsen]

Only for fun. Sometimes. Just shapes, not really anything else. I'm not good at that stuff. [He waved a hand, eh. The lumpy frozen heart was in his other hand, being small and cold.]

But um, yes! You could do it with the fire itself I guess, or heat up a tool? I've watched people do th-that. Using a metal point, getting it hot, and drawing like that.
