[There's a loud BANG as he slams the device down on a table, accidentally activating the video feature. There's the lovely view of a ceiling, for the time being.

Oh, and...

That yelling you here, Genessians? That's the sound of a very angry teenager as he's glaring through a freshly broken window. Enjoy that.]

Seriously, what the hell?!

[Okay, yeah... That's the extent of his yelling. He'll resume simply huffing and being annoyed, now.]

You've gotta be kidding me... I don't even remember anyone sayin' anything about signin' up for this shit. [The sound of angry footsteps with a brief visual of the brunette storming past.]

Damn it, we don't have the money for this shit!

[ Rudely awoken from her beauty sleep, the red head walks out of her room towards the sound of Shinji's outburst to see that their window was well, broken? ]

...Aragaki why is the window broken?

[Flash of a brunette walking past the device, again. The sound of him letting out an annoyed huff.

For Mitsuru, there's the sight of a very irritated Shinjiro- one hand scrubs through his hair as he shifts and glares over at the window.]

I'm guessin' it has something to do with this. [He holds up a rolled up newspaper, gesturing it towards Mitsuru.

Then, he lets out a sigh, appearing to deflate just a bit. Well, he...doesn't want her worrying over something like this.]

Look, ...don't worry about it, Kirijo. Aki and me'll figure somethin' out, alright?

[ Mitsuru gives him a serious expression. ]

This is unacceptable. It is impolite to break the windows of someone's residence. I will speak with them myself.

[ It's rude already that she was woken up with their home window broken. It's even more troublesome that it was a newspaper that broke the window. Why would anyone throw it that hard?! ]

[He grumbles a bit, but...well, he isn't always comfortable with going against her word. She is team leader, and that has more affect on his decisions than he will ever care to share.

She's proven to be a capable leader, more than he'll ever admit openly- or so he believes, at the current moment.]

Alright, how about this? [A frustrated sigh.] We all three go, together. [He's awkwardly scratching the back of his head.] We are a team, right?

[That's the only thing he can think to say that might get her to agree to not rush off and do everything herself.]

[ It wasn't like she was demanding it from him but something like this was rude and disrespectful. They had to pay for it through work that they did daily. It was not acceptable to just let the culprit get away, even if they were a paper boy. They needed to be punished for their actions one way or another.

It was true. Mitsuru always had a strange talent for leadership. She always seemed to attract people that way and it wasn't always intentional. She smiles briefly at his words about being a 'team.' Yes, she supposed that was true. ]

[Wow. Akihiko had taken out the device to call his best friend's attention, but hears this post instead. He worriedly sends a message in.]

Shinji? What happened? Are you and Mitsuru okay?

[Runs a hand through his hair, nodding.]

Yeeeeeah, we're fine. Though, I think I might've cut my hand on a piece of glass. Some idiot doesn't know how to aim...

[Shrugs and sighs.] So, looks like we're gonna be payin' to have a new window put in.

[Akihiko frowns after hearing all of that.]

...Did you get into a fight or something? You'd better go wash your hand. Make sure the glass is out. [Guess who's gotten into a ton of fights before? And knows how to deal with most minor injuries...]

Wha... Who the hell busted our window? [Sounds like someone needs an asskicking.]

Oh, hey, uh... Our boss wants to know if you're coming in today. I can tell him why you're late.

I cut it cleaning up the glass from the broken window. [Siiigh.] And, it was the guy that delivers the damn paper, of all people. Go figure they'd hire some wannabe baseball player to do something as simple as toss a roll of paper...

[The process seems really simple, damn it.]

I think I'm gonna head over to speak to the company, or whatever, tomorrow. [Yep. Gonna squash this little problem.]

Uh...yeah, tell 'em I'll be there in about twenty minutes.

Seriously? Why didn't you use a damn broom and dustpan? [He's irritated because the thought of Shinji being hurt again, so soon after... augh. The hell's the matter with him?]

If he's gonna suck at his job, they'd better find someone else. We should make 'em pay for the window! [Because hey, it's not their fault, and their money could go to something else more worthwhile.]

Okay. It's getting pretty busy here. I gotta run - see you soon.

[With that, he clicks the device off. Time to wait tables!]

Look, whatever. I did sweep up the smaller pieces. [Shut up, Aki. He doesn't need you to lecture him. :|]

Yeah, no kidding... [Then, the device is clicked off.

~FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER...he arrives at work with a bandaged hand.

Then, hours later, he's finishing up with cleaning the stove and restocking supplies for next shift. When he's finished, he heads outside and leans against the wall. Ugh, he's still annoyed about this morning.]

[Too damn bad. You're getting lectured, jerkass. Akihiko doesn't want you to hide another freaking injury, like the first time.

He finishes his shift later, because he's still wiping down all of the dirty tables and setting them. Then the manager is dividing up the tips between all of the waiters, while Akihiko is oblivious to one of his female coworkers trying to ask him out.

After he collects his earnings for the night, he immediately leaves to meet up with Shinji.]

Hey, Shinji! [Akihiko grins at him in greeting.] Ready to head back?

[You're the jerkass, jerkass. He hid that because he knew you'd beat yourself up, over it. Which you did.

He offers light smile in return to the grin and nods, casually lifting himself from the wall.]

Hey, Aki. Yeah, let's go.

[He gestures with his head, lightly, and starts that way.]

[That’ll teach you to hide shit from him…

Looking excited, Akihiko waves a wad of money at his friend as they start walking.] Look how much I made tonight! That’ll help pay for the window, right?

[Being a cook, Shinji doesn’t get to make tips like the servers, so Akihiko has been busting his butt even harder. He thinks Mitsuru should be chipping in too, but he doesn’t know her well enough to make that kind of suggestion. She always had money back home, being a Kirijo.]

Maybe we can get it fixed in a couple of days. I’ll try to make more tomorrow.

[Gaara recognizes his voice as the young man that had helped him and Ishtar, when they first arrived. Despite his curiosity and concern, his voice sounds calm as he addresses Shinjiro.]

You seem to be in need. What is it?

Some jerk thought it'd be a great idea to not pay attention to where he was throwin' the damn newspaper. [He lets out a sigh.]

Now we've gotta figure out how much it'll cost to replace the window. [Holds a blink as he turns his head to the side, scratching the back of his head. He then mutters, somewhat--] ...Damn it, and we just started workin'. [Blinking as though he hadn't meant to say that where Gaara could here, he gives the redhead a faint wave of his hand.]

No need to worry about us, though. [Faint smirk.] We'll be fine.

[The redhead quirks a brow, unamused.] That type of careless behavior could prove detrimental to the business of his employer. Particularly if there are any similar cases.

[Clearly, Gaara approves of incompetence. If his shinobi had acted so recklessly, they would receive proper punishment. But he knows that civilians are more lenient when it comes to these matters.

He listens and waits until Shinjiro has finished before replying.] If you have insufficient funds, I will provide assistance.

[Because being a thief and a monster hunter really pay off!]

There is little need to be prideful, in this instance. You have other important uses for your monetary means. [Such as food, and similar supplies for basic survival.]

Seriously. If it were up to me, I'd go hunt the guy down and properly thank him for such an act of kindness to our window.

[Hi, Gaara, enjoy his sarcasm.] Anyway, I do plan to head up there and talk to them about their shitty employee.

[He blinks at the offer.] Wh-...Seriously? [...] Yeah, but we just met. And, well, it's kind of our responsibility, right? I mean, but... [He then deflates, somewhat.] ...Are you sure?

[Look, growing up poor kind of made him uncomfortable with accepting acts of kindness.]

[Gaara isn't completely if that's an expression of sarcasm... He is used to Temari and Kankuro's unique brands of humor, but... he doesn't know Shinjiro that well.]

...By forcing him to compensate you for your loss. Correct?

[He tilts his head a little, not at all surprised by his reaction. He is like that too, with regards to random acts of kindness. But he understands how it feels to need help, and to receive abandonment instead. Even if Shinjiro does have other friends to help him, that isn't a reason for Gaara to refuse.]

Yes. [He reinforces, and then admits in a dry tone.] The expression of humor is not one of my strongest attributes.

Once you have determined the cost, name a time and location. I will transport the funds to you.

[Brief pause.]

I am not asking for anything in return. [What was that one expression again...] There are... no strings attached.

[He blinks, then smirks ever-so-slightly and nods.] Yeah.

[...]

...Look, I'll- I'll see how much it is, but... [Sighs.] ...Just tell me why you're willing to do this for a complete stranger. People don't just do stuff like this for other people without expecting something back.

[Gaara just stares at the other for a minute in silence. There is a simple reason for his desire to help, and another one much more intricate. He doesn't need to go too deep into detail.]

You need it, whereas I have excess funds. The concept is rather simple to comprehend.

... [Returns the stare after that answer, then finally gives an annoyed shrug.] Alright, fine!

[Moving to prop his chin on his hand with a frown.] After I talk to Aki and Kirijo, and figure out...how much it'll be, I'll contact you.

[He nods, his expression still impassive.]

Very well. I will await your instructions. [Slight head tilt.] In the meantime, exercise proper caution.

[With that, he cuts the feed.]

O-Oh my. That looks terrible. I do hope that you know who cause it.

[And give them a polite telling off.]

[She smiles happily.]

Now I understand, but they shouldn't be doing something like that. If it happens again, I'll give them a stern talking to and hope that they know what they are doing is wrong.

I'm sorry that your window got broken. Must be hard especially if you can't afford to fix it.

[She pauses for a moment.]

Maybe you could cover it up with something until you can.

[Scratching the back of his head, he frowns.]

Actually, yeah, that's probably what we'll have to do. It's just annoying, really. It doesn't seem like it'd be all that hard to pay attention to where you throw a damn newspaper...

You would think that wouldn't you. I'm surprised people don't make them pay for the damage they cause.

Well, maybe nobody's filed an official complaint. I'm gonna change that, if it's the case.

[He sighs and shakes his head.]

Well, whatever. No amount of biching's gonna solve this. All we can do, now, is patch it up then scrounge up the cash to fix it.

I should wish you luck with that and ask if you would need some help. I've never actually patched a window but I have had to fix things before.

I don't know. You're really missing the great thing about breaking shit.

[He blinks, then looks down at the device. Picking it up, he has to resist the urge to plant his face into the palm of his hand.]

Heh. [Bitter smirk.] So sorry. Seems I forgot to stare in wonder at my window having been smashed by a rogue idiot.
