[The screen turns on and you see a teen with really long black hair chilling with a small Torchic on his belly, one arm behind his head. It's obvious he's still getting used to this thing, because it takes him a moment to realize he finally got it working. His eyebrows raise suddenly and he grins.]

There we go, thought I might have busted it in that last battle.

So, first order of business... [he picks up the Torchic and shows it clearly to the audience.] what the hell is this thing?

[The pokemon trembles in his grip, knowing very well what this man was capable of. It lets out a small cry at being picked up.] T-TORCHIC!

I thought it was a chicken at first but when I threw it in the fire it wouldn't cook...

My initial guess is that it's one of these pokemon you guy's seem to keep going on about, if that's true what can I use it for? And can I only use it against other Pokemon?

[He puts the small pokemon back down and it seems to sigh in relief.]

Secondly, does anyone know a good job for an ex mercenary?

I need cash for booze and food, these cultists don't carry enough on them.

[His stomach seems to decide that moment to growl and he groans.]

Man, I could fucking eat a horse.... where the hell is Ren? [he mutter's under his breath.]

[And then he shuts off the video feed, probably by accident.]

If it doesn't burn in fire, I doubt it's your everyday chicken.

I'd like to find out just what it is and what it can do before I make it our next meal.

[Torchic does not like the sound of this and is yet again looking at it's master with panic'd eyes. Then it looks at Ren, pleading for him to let it go.]

What else then? Might as well tell me now, because I'll only find out later. [He always find's out.]

I've seen neither hide nor hair of any sort of authorities we should be concerned of, but that won't stop those who are inclined to socially justify wrong doings.

[If that is what you're saying, you better damn good argument. This is the kid who's murdered over a thoudand humans and a thousand demons all before he even reached the age of 18.]

I'm not asking for us to change our habits, but it would be unwise to make enemies in such a limited vicinity. It would be easier to anonymously kill our victims and survey who reacts to see what they're capable of.

But it also looks like a first evolution. If you train it enough, it might evolve into a stronger version of itself.

[Okay, now the cog's are turning. So if he trains this thing up it'll get stronger and stronger? Evolving mean it'll even change... hm.]>

So, what can fire types do?

Fire type attacks. [Obviously] They're pretty good against grass types, and some poison. If it's like Charmander, it probably knows scratch? Pokemon learn new moves when they get stronger.

I'd avoid battling people with water pokemon. You'll have the disadvantage.

[For someone who hasn't seen pokemon in a long time, he remembered more than he thought.]

It had taken him some time to get that information out of Sai, but finally, Gaara issued an order. He isn't the Hokage, and Leaf shinobi aren't required to obey him. But he does have some power, considering their alliance.

And now, faced with this knowledge and the man responsible... Gaara narrows his eyes thoughtfully. It would most likely alarm the other citizens, if he sought out this individual for seemingly no reason. In all honesty, he doesn't care. He is a ninja. There is little room for mercy or timidity in their line of work.

While he is in the midst of deciding, he will be keeping a very close eye on this one.

We eat chickens, too, but we don't throw live ones into the fire like that. And I wouldn't eat something like that anyway.

[There's a process involved, but she doesn't know how they do it.]

[He's not particularly in the loop, but he knows this much.]

[He doesn't respond beyond giving a somewhat wry smile, at the mentioning of him being surprised. When he speaks, it's not in a condescending tone- it's actually in a calm, somewhat friendly one.]

Well, unfortunately, it won't always matter what you're interested in, when it comes to working. They do call it work, after all.

[He props his chin on a hand, holding his smile, though making it somewhat more sympathetic. He used to hold that mindset when it came to working. Heck, he used to be worse than that.]

Heh, yeah...It has me wondering if this is all to let our guards down.

Oh, it's like one of those things I woke up with... I doubt they're- uh, meant for food.

You can use them in fights, though.

[Looks to the side a moment.] What's...a mercenary do, exactly?

I dunno much about it, yet. I'm still learning what I can.

Even if it was edible, I doubt it would have much meat.

[A random comment from him but one he quickly brushes off himself.]

Buuuuut, they aren't for eating now. I've found they are for battling.

What is wrong with you? They aren't for eating. They are pokemon that one has to train up and fight other pokemon.
