2nd Drop [Text]
[It's been a couple of weeks, and Mirai has already blown through most of what little money she had. If she wants to feed her Pokémon...and herself, she has to take some sort of action. The lack of Youmu here leaves her with one unpleasant option.]
I'm in serious need of a job.
Is anyone hiring? I don't have much experience with anything.
...and nothing involving food, please.

Hello. My name is Ayame Sasaki, I operate a tailor shop in Genessia City and currently in need of an assistant at my shop.
I can only provide * pay for a starter, though I can double that depending on how willing you are to move up the ladder and become an apprentice tailor. I hope that doesn't sound so daunting to you, and if that is a reasonable amount for you please let me know. I look forward to your reply
[Text]
I mean, any pay is better than none. What would I be expected to do exactly?
[Text]
And you might have to watch over Hibiki, my cat. He can be quite energetic at times and likes to claw on the fabric I have in stock.
[Text]
[And the risk of injury seems pretty low. That's definitely a bonus.]
I don't have much experience with animals, but I can try my best.
[And hope he doesn't like to claw people too.]
[Text]
I'm about to close in an hour and 20 minutes. Do you wish to come see the shop? I doubt anyone would come in this late so I'm just working on a few items for my regular clients.
[Text]
[With any luck, she won't get lost. Mirai still hasn't really explored much of the city.]
[Text] -> [Action]?
Once Mirai arrives, Ayame would be there behind the counter, focused on working on a vest. Though despite how she seems so absorbed in her work, she is aware of Mirai's arrival. The shop interior is neat, designed with a mix of old Victorian and contemporary style, with a fireplace by the waiting lounge with couches, magazines, and flowers on vases ]
Good evening, I hope the trip here didn't give you too many problems.
[ Ayame pauses, putting down her shears on the table. From the backroom, a Gardevoir carrying some fabric rolls shoots a curious look at Mirai before she places the material on an empty surface. ]
Give me a second. Feel free to look around or have a seat in the lounge.
[ A red Maine Coon cat is lying down on the couch in the lounge, waking up abruptly when Mirai arrived just to curiously look at this stranger. ]
[Action]
Sorry, I'm still not used to this city.
[The Gardevoir catches her attention. She's pretty sure it's another one of those Pokémon creatures.]
Okay. [She takes a seat in the lounge while she waits for the older woman to finish up what she's working on, finally taking a moment to actually glance around. It's...nice, if not a little old-fashioned. Not that she's an expert on fashion or interior design or anything.
She glances back at the cat, giving it a nervous little smile. She assumes that's the cat she was told about in the text.]
[Action]
Please, have a drink. Make yourself at home.
[ Another glass makes it's way to the other side of the table just as Ayame steps out of her work table. The sound of her heels clacking against the hardwood floor just as she joins Mirai at the lounge. Wearing a figure-hugging dress of her creation, Ayame gives Mirai an acknowledging grin just as she takes a seat on the opposite couch, picking up her glass of lemon iced tea for a sip ]
That was the cat I mentioned. His name is Hibiki, he does that a lot. My Pokemon there is a Gardevoir, her name is Hibana.
[ Ayame gestures to Hibana to say hello to Mirai, and the Gardevoir does so with a polite bow before taking Hibiki to the back room ]
What do you think? Has seeing the shop in person help you form a decision? I try to make it as welcoming and relaxing an atmosphere as I can.
[Action]
He runs off a lot? [She glances at the Gardevoir and offers a wave in return.]
Oh...hello! [She's not used to Pokémon being so...well behaved? One of hers just flops over her whenever she sits or lays down, and the other has a chewing habit. And has a jealousy problem.]
It's a very nice shop. You really wouldn't mind hiring me?
no subject
Thank you.
Now, on the subject of your hiring, that decision is actually up to you. There are a few other options out there with a star higher pay than what I'm offering, and requires no prior experience as well. I invited you here more to give you a better idea of the job and the work environment should you accept.
[ Ayame takes a few swigs of her tea, emptying her glass. But it fills itself up like magic. ]
Judging by your current attire, I'm assuming you either live in Genessia or in Attleton. This job should be a perk if you live in this city. It's not difficult to get here from any of the apartment complexes throughout the city by public transport.
no subject
[Mirai is...not a great cook, isn't willing to risk dripping blood on food, and is a bit clumsy, so working at any sort of food establishment is right out. Awkward enough that most customer service jobs would be difficult, and lacks experience in most other fields.]
But any pay is better than none. I'm pretty broke right now. [She lets out a nervous laugh.]
I live in Genessia right now. I can't afford to move out of the commonspace yet.
no subject
[ Ayame gently places the glass down on the coffee table, easing back to a sitting position with her back straight. She places her hands on top of the other, having it rest on her leg. ]
Limited in what way? Are you not comfortable around customers or big crowds?
no subject
I'm just not very good with people, really.
no subject
Understood.
[ A beat. Ayame tucks her hair behind her ear before opening her eyes to look at Mirai. One last scan of the young woman's surface appearance gives Ayame some comfort that she's not hiring someone unsavory ]
What if I hire you now and give you a starting pay of two stars, but you have to work starting tomorrow. Would you be willing to accept those terms?
no subject
W-wait, really?! I can do that. What time do I need to be here by?
no subject
Be here at 9AM sharp. Your training starts tomorrow.
[ Ayame takes a final sip of her tea, emptying the glass in one go. She stands up, taking her glass with her to give it to Hibana who takes it away to the kitchenette in the back. The works-in-progress on the table put themselves away neatly on the clothing rack beside it. Before she gets completely distracted and ignore Mirai,
Ayame turns to ask: ]
Do you have any other plans for the night? Since you've told me of your financial troubles, I can treat you to dinner. Any place you wish. Consider it your welcome present.
no subject
Alright.
[Mirai takes another sip of her own tea, although she easily gets distracted by the clothing putting itself away. That was kind of neat.]
Oh! No, not really. I was just going to head home. [...and there's practically a sparkle in her eyes at the mention of a free meal that hopefully isn't instant.]
Really?! I mean, are you sure?
no subject
[ Ayame takes her coat after instructing Hibana to head straight home with Hibiki. Ayame opens a portal for the Pokemon to just slip through straight back to her apartment, while she is planning on walking back home after dinner. ]
no subject
[She just...kind of blurts that out. Then proceeds to look incredibly embarrassed. She just can't afford to eat well most of the time!]
I...I mean if that's alright?
no subject
[ Ayame smiles a little, amused at Mirai's sudden burst and deflation right after. It must be nice to be young.
A few minutes of walking afterwards, Ayame tests the waters on Mirai. They didn't exchange any meaningful words along the way, but Ayame filled the silence by pointing out important landmarks in the area, just to help Mirai get acclimated in the city more.
But they eventually make it to a very homely, shack-style restaurant with an outdoor patio, lit up by multiple lights on strings. It's a place that specializes in barbecue very similar, if not outright the same, to American-style barbecue. The smell of smoky meats and sweet and sour spices just permeates the area, even at the seat that Ayame and Mirai found themselves in. There were just so many things on the menu that she wanted to try, so Ayame ordered quite a lot (for normal appetites, at least) ]
I hope you have quite the appetite. Please, enjoy.
[ This shouldn't be a problem to Ayame herself, being a big eater too. There's brisket, ribs, sausages, pulled pork sandwiches, and even some toasts. That's not counting the sides of mashed potatoes, baked beans, and coleslaw. Ayame normally would be for avoiding these sorts of meals, opting for the healthier options, but Mirai is lucky that the older woman doesn't care for that today, eagerly taking some of each to her plate ]
no subject
While the restaurant was on the small side, Mirai didn't mind at all. The smells coming from the place very nearly had her drooling!]
Oh wow...there's so much! Are you sure this is alright?
[Of course, she says this as she's loading up her own plate with an absurd amount of food. There's definitely no lack of an appetite here.]
no subject
Of course, eat to your heart's content.
[ Ayame takes her first bite, with her elegant table manners more appropriate for five-star restaurants than a neighborhood grill. She first tried the restaurant's prided ribs, which just falls apart from the bone with ease and filled with smoky and sweet flavor even in a small bite. Ayame gives a pleased hum, visibly impressed ]
Have you had something like this before? Judging by your name, you are from Japan, yes?
no subject
[At least she does show some manners before she begins eagerly digging into her free meal. She's...definitely less elegant, but she does take the time to actually taste her food, starting with the brisket. After swallowing a bite, she responds.]
It's a little different than what I'm used to, but it's so delicious! [She nods briefly, skewering a sausage with her fork next.]
Yes.

are you allergic to flowers and how bad of an actor are you

[...not really, anyway.]
text;
i ended up inheriting a flower shop from someone who used to be here

or you could help out with the film studio
i guess its whatever your preference is

[There was the Pokémon craziness, but that wasn't awful.]

As for battles outside of that.. there are, at times. But as I said, that's why there are City Guardians and bounty hunters galore around here.
