Operation 17 | [Video/Action]

[Tonight, Gale can be found behind the bar at After Life. He's eyeing up several bottles in front of him - bottles of the strongest alcohol and drink mixes he had available, one of which even being awfully prismatic, which was awfully appropriate to match the crystal walls of the club. He has a purple cigarette holder between his fingers adorned with a purple butterfly that matched those of the employee pins of the club, twirling the tip of it in such a way to swirl the smoke from the tip. He was bobbing his head to the beat of the song currently playing before he finally glanced at his device to address the network.]

So, I could go for some drink suggestions for After Life and Hangar Queen. Particularly for After Life- it could go for something new after bein' open a year now. Bonus points if whatever you come up with can floor even a cyborg.

[Because he could go for something that was strong to him, especially since after Ivina's disappearance, he lost the strongest drink in the joint when her subarchway closed.

He glanced up for a few moments before shrugging, letting out a laugh.]

Who'da thought that someone like me could run a business for a year now. This place sure is weird.

[On the counter, a Cubone would then come walking into view. He stops beside the Prism drink before reaching up to the bottle and attempting to open it. Gale just casually glances over, raising an eyebrow.]

I don't think you'd want that, buddy. You'd regret all of your life choices if you did.

[Not that he's moving to stop the little Cubone. He's just watching the little Pokémon struggle to get the bottle open.]

How is being able to run a business for a year weird?

[Yugi had been running his business for longer, which while it was strange, it was something he had some idea of how to do.]

I was a mercenary, kid. Specifically, a mercenary pilot. Can't say running a successful business was on my list of qualifications.

[Yeah, the leader of the main mercenary organization at his home ran a nightclub, but that guy was also weird... whoever that guy was.]

Oh, I see. So it was like a major change to what you were use to.

[It probably would be werid to say the least.]

But is it something you really enjoy?

"Major change" feels like puttin' it lightly.

[He was used to hunting people down and engaging himself in dog fights, not serve drinks.]

Not somethin' I would have expected, but yeah, I'd say I'm gettin' enjoyment out of it. Guess I wouldn't have opened a sister location if I hadn't enjoyed the first one.

Yeah, I wouldn't have two shops if I didn't enjoy it. Though the obvious downsides and mostly travelling wise, but I still like it.

Do you have that trouble, or do you actually drive and such?

I got a motorcycle, so gettin' between cities isn't an issue for me at all.

[He breaks traffic laws on a frequent basis, but hey, he hasn't been caught so there's no issue!]

I think my only issue is findin' my life a little redundant. But that's why there are bounties to break up the monotony.

[When there are bounties that actually catch his interest, anyway.]

[Yugi knew someone back home who had a motorcycle. It was never something he ever planned on riding himself. Ever.]

Redundant? In what way.

[Gale gives a loose shrug, tapping his index finger on the holder.]

I'm not quite used to my life bein' so... normal. It feels foreign, or even boring sometimes.

I guess if one has always been involved in things happening, I can understand it being boring. Sort of. I personally was happy to get back to normal.

[No one trying to screw people over, no one to steal souls, or anything. He was glad to have the normal life when he could.... Even here.]

Given my life at home, one would probably think I'd be glad to live like this. I'm almost not sure why I'm not.

[Maybe if he was able to live with his sisters, it'd be a different story. They were the only family he had, but he'd been forcibly separated from them. No wonder he had to stop himself from getting attached to people.]

But I can also see why some people prefer this kinda life. I guess I just need to find a way so I'm not so... antsy.

[Unlikely though, thanks to the secondary magical substance that flows in his veins.]

Do you have people who you are close to here?

[Well...that helped...to an extent although Yugi was a little more weary on who he would consider close to. But that was just him. Thanks Terra for that one.]

If anyone can come up with something can get me drunk as well, I'd love to hear it. But if it were to knock us both out, it would have to be extremely strong.

[He sounded amused at all this.]

I had something that could even give me a buzz, but unfortunately it was in a subarchway that's closed now.

I've got the strongest stuff I can get from my subarchway, but it ain't doin' it for me. I thought people in Eichhorn practically drank pure alcohol.

[Clearly not. Buncha chumps.]

Any reason why the normal stuff doesn't do it for ya? Magic reasons? Drank too much of the weak stuff? Liver of steel?

Shame you didn't think to bring as much over as possible before it did. Though the image of someone trying to smuggle a tonne of alcohol is amusing.

[He shrugged slightly, it was really hard to explain why not.]

Maybe a high alcohol intolerance. I mean I got drunk once... But I was in virtual reality at the time, so it's possible.

Yeah, I'm wishin' I had that foresight at the time now. But I also wasn't expectin' my lady friend to go and vanish on me either.

[She even gave him vaguely interesting jobs to do under cover sometimes. And she was easy on the eyes. He misses Ivina. But he also misses that booze.]

Maybe we'll strike gold and land a drink that can floor us both. I'm sure there's some combination from this table that'd do it.

[Maybe the liquors for Afterburner combined with Prism? Though he could possibly do without the hallucinating courtesy of the latter.]

True, no one really expects people to suddenly up and vanish.

[He should know that much by now at least.]

We could try and experiment or something.

[With the number of people that had left so far that Gale was actually fond of, at this stage it's hard for him to willingly let himself get emotionally close to something. It almost feels like a curse- one that has been chasing him for over six years now.]

If you wanna give it a shot, I wouldn't mind the help. Gettin' a second opinion might be just what I need.

I have nothing better to do right now. Most of my business stuff is done for the time being after all.

[Mostly sorting out menus, adding or removing stuff for the most part. new stuff that had been added was based on experiments he liked.]

I'm currently in After Life in Nova City, but I could pack all this up and meet ya somewhere. Loud music blarin' in your ears is hard for thinking sometimes.

Yeah, loud noises can stop that I can agree. gentle music is always a good way of thinking. But we can find some middle ground somewhere.

[Just doesn't know where exactly.]

I'm not against listenin' to calmer music. [He needs it to keep him sane sometimes.]

Got a city preference? I can pack up and go anywhere.

[Even Fayren if he has to.]

I do not, I pretty much have fingers in most of the cities so to speak. Well apart from Nova City.

[Only city he ain't got anything.]

So I'm very flexible as to where but Genessia is always a good center for all things.

Not one for the high tech gadgetry? Or just haven't gotten that far yet?

Oh, I am. I was once in a world that was advanced. Although they had dragonfly races which were flying machines...don't really see that there. The flying races, I mean.

I miss having kumis. It's fermented mare's milk, if you haven't heard of it.
It's not that strong, though.

A stronger drink can be made when the mare's milk is distilled.

Huh. Can't say I'm familiar with it.

[It sounds gross but he'd still try it.]

Any special method on how to go about makin' it? I'd be happy to stock it if I can make it.

When you milk a mare, you have to keep a foal next to her.

[ He goes more into the process. He mostly goes into the old fashioned methods he's familiar with. The milk is fermented naturally, and kept in the appropriate temperature. He talks about storing methods and how to keep the milk from congealing.]

Sometimes people keep leather bags of it outside their yurts, and people know to punch it to keep it stirred up.

[Jeez, that's a lot of fine detail. But, Gale's certainly not one willing to back down, even if the whole 'milking a horse' thing sounds really, really weird.]

Sounds like I'll have to make a trip to Fayren if I wanna make the stuff. Mare's milk doesn't sound like somethin' I could get in Nova.

[He hadn't been to Fayren in a while. Something about that city felt awkward, but it probably had to do with the fact that he was a cyborg in fantasy land. That right there is why he certainly wouldn't trust himself to get anything manually from farm animals of any kind.]

We'll see what I can do then. Can't imagine it'd give me too much trouble.

[If he could follow Ivina's process to make Prism, he's at least got a little confidence in this.]

It's not the season for milking yet. It usually starts in the summer, like the middle of June.

I work in Fayren, and I haven't met anyone else who knows how to milk them.
