{ Torchic sneezed, fire rocketing out of his beak as if it were two evolution stages later. The dead branches weren't ignited; they were incinerated. Zeref quickly reached for the Pokéball, a brief look of panic crossing his features. }

{ He mutters, returning Torchic to the Pokéball. He didn't think Torchic sneezed on him, but he couldn't be too sure. He turns toward the entrance to Fairy Haven, fully intending on splashing alcohol on his face. }

I trust everyone has read the latest issue of the Genessia Tribune? Does anybody know if the Chimera Infection can mutate to affect non-humans? I am concerned about one of the Pokémon. He has suffered from hay fever in the past, but given the circumstances, caution is warranted.

Further, if any of you are experiencing symptoms, I would ask that you do not come near Fairy Haven. While I am sure Fairy Tail are eager to assist with the triage efforts, please only use the device to contact them directly.

{ He and Mavis cannot risk infection. They both know that losing control over their Curses is a very real possibility without a magical disease. The last thing they need is to also lose control over things like Living Magic, Law, or worse, Fairy Heart. }

{ OOC: For clarification, Zeref is not (currently) infected. But given just how dangerous his magic (and Mavis', for that matter) is, he's a little paranoid. }

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one concerned about this plague that seems to only be effecting mages.

If anyone you know does experience the symptoms or you see anyone, please let me know. I am planning on using my inn for a place to take care of those who have it until fluids and bed rest help them.

So please do not worry as I will be attempting to personally help deal with it the best way I can.

As for pokemon since there is no record of them being affected yet, we can't really know for sure.

[And by her inn she means the hidden bit underneath, best way to keep them away from others to avoid to spreading after all.]

Like most illness, virus and bacteria there is always a possible case of it mutating and affecting others. Though I am pretty sure something like that takes time to do.

Unless certain circumstances obviously like magic ones. Magic is just plain unpredictable.

Suffice it to say that I have more reasons than most to wish to avoid exposure.

I should hope the White Tower also appreciates the potential for catastrophe with a disease such as this.

It will be impossible to tell without studying the disease, and Fayren lacks the medical facilities for such a thing.

[Mavis catches sight of Zeref as he hurries to splash water on his face. She follows him quietly, and waits for him to be drying off the water with a towel to ask.]

Is everything alright, Zeref? ...Did something happen with Torchic?

Only if they want people. After all it would be suggested to those who do have it to stay indoors, but for those who might necessarily not have a home it's the next best thing.

As for patient zero as far as I am aware, they have not.

Well I can always bring stuff from Genessia hospital that could be studied back there.

My magic is particularly dangerous. That is all I will say on the matter.

The White Tower is the main institution of magical study in Fayren. It is hosted by the Royal Family themselves.

Those handling any sort of sample would need to be strictly limited to non-mages. We can't risk an outbreak in other archways.

{ Not just water; Mavis might smell he mixed some of Fairy Tail's liquor with it, as a makeshift disinfectant. He reaches for the towel, drying himself off, after another splash of water to rinse. }

I was going to burn some of the dead branches from the last time my Curse activated. Torchic sneezed and reduced them to ash.

{ Finishing drying himself off, he undoes the white, outer layer of his robes, folding them. He'll need to wash those, too. }

[The mental image of the fire bird sneezing and reducing the the pile of wood to ash is comical but Mavis refrains from laughing. Instead she gives Zeref a sympathetic look.]

[As he asks the next question, she notices how he seems to be disinfecting everything, clothes included.]

About the disease that affects magical users in Fayren? Yes, I have.

I'm unsure he feels guilt so much as he feels sick. And if nothing else, it would help to have a confirmed diagnosis.

It's a risk neither of us can afford to take. I suggest you get in touch with Erza and the other new recruits, too, and make sure they're all feeling well, and are aware of the situation.

I'm not sure. I mean I doubt it spreads by blood, so I don't see why not.

We won't be able to treat it or create an effective vaccine without one. If any infected show up at your inn, it would be wise to ask on the network for doctors to volunteer, but strictly limit the staff to non-mages.

Their reaction to the Hands of Decay crisis was similarly underwhelming. I respect their commitment to the autonomy of mages in Fayren, but their lack of leadership during times of crisis would be an utter scandal in any country in my world.

True point, which is probably why I'd be unable to do it myself. I have magical abilities myself after all.

They would be living under the inn is a secure location underneath. So really the only one who will be seeing to them would be me, and I'm planning on taking a blood sample to hand over to someone who could check it out.

I don't know. If I had to guess, they fear the perception that they wish to rule mages, not train and shelter them.

We chased the Hands of Decay from Fayren ourselves. They weren't destroyed, but they are pariahs in Fayren, with all of their former supporters alienated by their brutal methods.

That is acceptable.

Those who are alert and feeling up to it need to share everything they remember about the days leading up to when they first began experiencing symptoms. We need to know where this disease came from.
