[Rocket's no stranger to going after big bounties, and while he's not too familiar yet with the money system here in Genessia (and whatever the other cities were called), "level two payment" sounds pretty good when you're trying to elevate your situation from "sharing a bathroom with a bunch of ugly humies who keep staring at you like you're gonna bite them (even if you have, in fact, bitten them or threatened to do so)". Anyway, a guy's gotta eat, at least until he can figure out how to build or find somebody to build a ship and/or get through those fences and see if there aren't any ships in other parts of this bizarre little shithole of a planet. It's the natural choice.

[If he's perfectly honest, Rocket has no fricking clue what the guy is going on about in the request, some kind of stolen artifacts or whatever, but once he had a description of the missing stuff, it wasn't too hard to find the doer. After all, if you're gonna steal a bunch'a crazy mystical hoodoo shit, you're gonna have to offload it to somebody to make a profit. All he had to do was keep an eye on communications and wait for one that used the right kinda language - language Rocket was intimately familiar with, as a person who has stolen and sold things in the past.

[Anyway, long story short, he responds and requests a meet in person to examine the goods and purchase. When the poor schlub shows up - some ugly, greasy human that makes Quill look like a supermodel - he springs the trap. It's not as satisfying as it usually is, but - though he won't admit it for a second - that's probably because Groot isn't there to help or hinder the capture. But… well, all's well that ends well. Or all's well that ends in a payday, anyway.]
