dream/nightmare event
WHO: Battler and ANYONE!
WHAT: Battler's nightmare results in two of him. One isn't as nice as the other.
WHEN: May 8th
WHERE: In the dream world bro
WARNINGS: Blood, violence, taunting, etc etc IT'S RATED R FOLKS
[to anyone that walked into this hellish nightmare, it was easy to see why this wasn't pleasant at all.
battler knew what was going on the entire time, he had a distinct knowledge for these sorts of tricks, but even so he had been powerless to stop the other man. the one that looked exactly like him, sounded just like him, even laughed like him, played tricks and was sent here only to kill and to taunt. that was what he did, that was what he had done in the past.
who did it... who was the culprit? those questions had been directed at him as soon as he woke up in that hospital room. he had been saved by someone he loved, but he hadn't been protected from the police and the reporters that demanded answers. his entire family had died. they had been murdered, and he didn't have the answers. what could he tell them? it was pointless to say what happened, nearly everyone he loved had been killed. that included the culprit herself. so, since he didn't hand out answers, people started to talk.
it must have been battler, they said to one another, it must have been him. that talking, all that gossip, he knew that it gave birth to what was in his nightmare. it was a vague idea, but for whatever reason he just knew that was why he was here.
battler struggled against his restraints as he lay on his side, the rope all too tight around his wrists. he had been tied up by this man, he had been kicked and stabbed and beaten until he was a bloody mess. the other man, he just threw back his head and laughed to no one in particular.
yes, whoever stepped into this nightmare would see a horrible scene. battler on the ground covered in blood, the man in the purple suit also covered, and bodies lay all around him. the bodies of people he had met in his life, the bodies of his family, anyone that battler could say he was close to, they were all here and dead on the ground.]
My my.... have you come to play....?
[he spoke, the man in question, to whoever stepped into this dream.]
[ooc: replies will come from both this journal and
justiceerror !! and permission will be asked in the threads for anything before it is done. if your character just came to talk, then it's okay to specify that! trying to save battler will result in b. battler stopping them.]

No, the blood actually seemed more familiar than most things considering how much of it she'd seen over the years. The bodies.. People she didn't know, people she recognized. A panic rose in her until she heard Battler's voice. She'd gotten back to trusting him lately. It'd taken a while, but they'd worked through it and even if they weren't where they had been, they were much better now. If anything had been closest to the 'home' she kept searching for in her dreams over and over again (another reason the familiarity of being lost didn't seem questionable) it was Battler.
When she turned to look at him though, the words he actually spoke caught up to her and connected pretty quickly with his outfit, his eyes. She knew who he was and it wasn't Battler-- her Battler, anyway. It explained the bodies everywhere and Yuri turned around to open the door again, but the door didn't have a handle.
Home was where your heart was, alright. No wonder she couldn't seem to find one if he was here. Yuri took a deep breath and made sure to keep a fair amount of distance between them. She was alive now, she definitely definitely couldn't be trapped with him. Calm down. Play it off like it's nothing. Yuri sighed and tried to play it off like they were in a totally normal situation and she was criticizing him. She needed time to think. ]
Sorry, but I thought we were done with murder games. They're sort of last year.

this was a nightmare, but to the man in the purple suit, it was all so real. he didn't know it was fake, that none of this was real, everyone to him was just another victim waiting to be cut open.
the battler on the ground moved, he made a noise in his throat but no words came out. he struggled agaisnt his restraints again, and then just made the man laugh. he turned to look down at battler, walking over to him with confident strides. the man brought his foot up- only to slam it down on battler's head.]
Murder games...? I see.... [he pressed his foot down harder on battler.] ....yes.... yes I suppose they would be games...
[but then he took his foot away from battler, turning around to point right at yuri.]
But you would know all about that, would you not....?! With all your taunting as well, toying with the lives of others.... aahh... I know all about it, Yuri!

What kind of idiot was she that she thought she could get away with going around unarmed just because this place seemed peaceful? Maybe that freedom of feeling like it was okay had been what she'd shoot herself in the foot with after all.
Just because she wasn't armed didn't mean she wouldn't fight though. Her eyes darted around to the corpses on the ground. Someone had to have something sharp. It was morbid, and staring at the graveyard around them made her realize that the tables may have turned and she was one of the only living people around, but it probably wouldn't be for long. Especially if she didn't find something.
--But for now, she needed to get Asshole-Battler away from Battler. ]
You've gotten pretty bad at this. I tease people all the time, that's nothing new. You're not even tormenting my boyfriend right, dumbass.
[ Despite her words, she was honestly hoping that he'd hear them over the sound of her heart pounding in her chest. ]

Huhahahahahaha...!! No... you know just what I mean! You think you have control, you like to have it all the time.... but yes... it's because you see.... aaahhh...! It's because you don't have any control at all!
How was it, hm? What was it like....?! Hey... hey hey tell me...! [he took a step towards her, his own dark aura starting to surround him.] ....what did they look like... your siblings... after they were shot... after they were killed....?! Oohh....! But that's no good, no... no good at all! You see... I have them.... here...
I have your siblings here.
no subject
Now he was here to take it away.
This was why she didn't ever let go of control, and he knew. There was nothing more terrifying than someone understanding you when you don't want them to, because that means they know what to take away from you. Her eyes glanced to the Battler tied up on the floor briefly. She didn't get how that was possible-- last time she'd seen this imitation, it had been him but under the influence of a virus. How the hell was he here, separate from Battler now?
Yuri took a step back. The last time she'd seen him, she wasn't half as scared as she was now. She had already been dead, she didn't have anything to lose. Now she finally had a possibility for a future, she had someone she loved and she was working things out. Even if she still didn't have a place to call home and the price for getting all of this way high, things were better. And she'd let the control slip because of that. Because she'd wanted to believe that it was possible and now he was here to take it away.
Was he was starting with making sure that she'd lose everything from the very beginning? Yuri's expression clearly transformed when he mentioned her siblings. How the hell could he possibly have them? He didn't have anything to do with that- he wasn't involved. They were gone. Long gone, they'd even forgiven her, he couldn't have them. ]
If you think I'm that gullible you're even crazier than I thought.
[ Her voice wasn't as playful as it had been before though. She couldn't force it at a certain point. Not when he was trying to goad her into reliving her past that she had finally, finally forgiven herself for. ]

She doesn't have a horrified icon yet... >_>
Am I dreaming?
[She wonders that outloud to herself as she continues to wander across the dreamscape, only stopping when she hears Black Battler's voice call out to her. Megumi wheels around and gasps, eyes widening at the sight in front of her. She doesn't retreat though, instead clenching her fists at her sides and standing firm.]
What are you doing to him? Leave him alone!
one day she shall
no, he was the true battler. the one lying on the ground, the one tied up and bleeding... he was a fake. he was the furniture, he was the idiotic fool. right now, black battler stood on top and he never wanted to leave this throne.
he would kill anyone just to satisfy his own desires.]
Leave him.... alone....? What a thought... mmm.... [he placed a hand in his pocket as though he were contemplating that seriously.]
...I think not. I want him, and I want to torture him until he no longer screams.
no subject
Her expression sets in determination. She can't turn her back on this. No matter how horrifying the sight of those bodies and the bleeding and beaten man on the ground might be, she has to put a stop to it! It's her duty as a Precure!]
Something like this.... [Her eyes flash and out of nowhere she's holding her Mirror and PreCards.] I won't let you get away with it!
["Time To Change~". The mirror pops open, letting her slot her cards into place and for a moment her reflection rests in it before a warm, pink light flows from it and surrounds her, becoming a cloak. Her hair glows, becoming longer and changing to a bright pink, the same color now shining in her eyes. Piece by piece, her Precure form appears, all of it happening in an instant. Finally, she casts the cloak aside letting it dissolve into light. Her bow appears on her back and she taps her wrist, conjuring her PreBrace and then at last, it's done.
Where a moment ago there had been a rather plain-looking redhead teenager, there's now a pink, black and white clad heroine, ready to fight to end the misery Black Battler sought to bring to the world.]
The big love spreading across the world! [She waves her arms as she speaks, leaving trails of light in the air in the shape of a heart before finally concluding with her trademark pose.] Cure Lovely!
no subject
alright. that was pretty flashy. after that whole sequence b. battler simply nods, even clapping at her little performance.]
Wow... didn't think that someone could make such a flashy entrance. You've taken my breath away.... however... next time- do away with the cloak. It would be... ah... much more entertaining watch you that way.
[take that in the worst possible way, because he meant it like that.]
Love... you say? I'm curious now, do you know... what love is....? Tell me, just what color is the ocean for you....? Is it grey, or is it blue?
no subject
But she's not going to let that throw her off. Instead, she focuses on his question, nodding firmly.]
The ocean is the same blue color for everybody, and love is the same. That's always true even if people sometimes lose sight of it!
[Said without an instant of hesitation. She means every word of it.]

[So here she stands, looking at the battered body of who she assumes is the true Battler, if only because he's the only one she knows. This guy who looks like him? Evil twin, most likely.]
I'm not so sure I'd like your type of games.
[It's just a dream, she's pretty sure. But the urge to rescue the man is pretty strong.]
What did you have in mind?
no subject
[he smiles, tilting his head as he looks over at her.]
Such a sight... what a beauty to see.... however, I wonder what you'll look like covered in red. Huhahahahaa....! Yes, that's what I want!
[an aura began to surround him, the black power engulfed him as he grinned at yang.]
What sorts of sounds... will you make...?!
no subject
[She pulls her arms wide with a sharp motion, bursting into bright flames. The corners of her mouth turn upward into a smirk.]
How's that?
[Her gauntlets are locked and ready to go, aura blazing in stark contrast to the darkness oozing from her opponent. She pulls back her fists, then shoots herself forward (literally) to drive a fiery fist at his chest.]
no subject
I want to see it even more now... a beautiful woman... the face of her when she's being strangled, beaten, killed! You'll give me that.... won't you...?! You'll let me do that... will you not?!
[the fist was well aimed, but even though she was quick, he had the ability of magic on his side. where battler should have been, he simply disappeared in a cloud of darkness. quickly, almost instantly, he re-appeared behind her, and that was when he swiped at her, his dark aura creating claw-like shapes in the air as he tried to attack her back.]

Not on a first date!

Walking a few steps he looked around, his eyes studying the situation and looking for possible explanation as to what was going on. But it didn't take him long to spot something. With a smile and his two hands held up in front of his body he was assuring that he wasn't exactly dangerous.]
I have not come to play, at least not today. [That rhyme was not intended as he put on a calm smile, his eyes looking towards the ground. Ah, it was that man he spoke to when he first arrived, but he knew this wasn't the place he arrived at this time, it was different.]
What exactly is it you are doing?
[It didn't look good either way, so he was prepared for the possibly, moving his hands towards his side.]
no subject
What am... I doing....? Well, I'm simply... getting rid of a fool.
[he laughed to himself, his hands now in his pockets as he turned to grin at fai.]
And I wish to replace him... of course.
no subject
Now, getting rid of a fool sounds rather harsh, don't you think? [He looked around, he could figure what was coming and maybe having something in his hand was better than nothing at all.]
no subject
Unless... you want to stop me.
no subject
If it's necessary, then yes. I would at least try to.
[Given he is saying that as an unarmed man is probably not the best of ideas.]

Later, the next morning
after it was over, after it was all said and done, battler opened his eyes and shot up from his bed. he was covered in sweat, he was breathing heavily, and it was hard to even understand where he was. he wasn't at home... right? no, he hasn't been home and comfortable for years now.
he was in purgatory for so long, time hadn't moved for him but even so, he knew he had been there for nearly three years thanks to the community's time. then he got back home to his house, it was so empty... especially after yuri left. not long after, he was sent here.
he hasn't been home in so long, he hasn't felt safe and secure in so long either. he thought maybe here that would change but... that dream. that wasn't just a dream, that was a nightmare, and it felt so real. he hadn't been able to speak, he had watched his family be tortured again, all by someone that even looked like him. then his friends came, yuri came too... and all he could do was watch helplessly as they were attacked by that man.]
The... the culprit...? [no, he wasn't the culprit. that was a story made up by bernkastel and the rest of the people that asked him about that day. battler didn't kill anyone.
he had to calm down, he was still breathing so heavily. this is nothing, he kept telling himself, he had been through so much worse than that. seeing his family hurt, but he was so used to it that it was second nature now, as sick as that was. he knew they were dead, and he's known for a long time, so the pain has lessened for him. but what really got to him... was how yuri killed him. he hadn't ever seen her look like that before, like she actually wanted him to just die.
battler felt something slip from his cheek, and that was when he reached up to touch his face. he was crying, he had been crying, but that was only natural thanks to what happened. he sniffled, rubbing his eyes with his sleeve and he pulled back the covers. he needed to just... to see her, to address this. it felt way too real, almost like a virus back in the community. it couldn't have been one... but it felt like it for sure.
the redhead pushed over the door to his room, then his apartment, and he walked down the hall to her own door. he didn't care that it was the early hours of the morning, he had to talk to her. he knocked on her door, lightly at first... but then his knocking turned to more desperate bangs.]
Yuri-! Open up...! Please!
no subject
"Home" would come to her though. She knew exactly what she had meant when her part of the dream had ended-- where she wanted to go, and what she'd wanted to do. In the whole jumble of thoughts, she'd wanted to go straight to Battler and just stay there and apologize for everything she'd been putting him through lately. She may have killed him in that dream, but it was a wake up call for her.
So when she heard him crying out and banging on her door like something terrible had happened, she got up pretty quickly and nearly ran to the door, not bothering to fix her slight case of bedhead as she unlocked everything and opened up up. ]
Battler, what's going on?
no subject
he kept telling him that over and over. even when he heard her unlock the door, even when she opened it and saw him standing there. it was just a dream. but it felt so real, far too real, and it hurt him greatly to even think about.
it was clear that he was distressed, since he was still covered in sweat. by now, he had started to feel chilled from the air that touched his skin, so he shook slightly as he stared down at her.]
I... y... you're okay. But of course you are... [not like she wouldn't be okay, since none of that even happened. but he shook his head, just not caring anymore, and he wrapped his arms around her and embraced her tightly. battler buried his head against her neck, his hug was tight, but not enough to harm, but enough to know that he was overly distressed about something.]
I had a... a terrible dream.
no subject
I'm fine. Hey-
[ Yuri was going to take a step back now, but not move her arms so she could kind of drag him out of the doorway. ]
You're going to get sick if you don't come in, come on.
no subject
[oh. oh yeah, he did feel pretty chilled right about now. battler nodded lightly, pulling away from her.]
Sorry... [he still felt so confused though. there was so much on his mind still, what happened in his dream and seeing her now it just... gave him so many different emotions. but he went inside just like she said.]
