Containment 01 | [Action/Video/Anon Text]
[Private Action - The Bay]
[This was not how he wanted to start his day, and he had to start it on high alert. Great. He'd been sent to investigate supernatural incidents, but he didn't think he'd be caught up in one this big so soon. Slipping in the Bay and getting soaked didn't help matters either, so now he's cautious, worried and wet. ... but at least he had Schwarz with him, who barked at him from the capsule as he sat in the water.]
Thanks for the warning now, buddy.
[He carried the scottish terrier out with him so the pooch didn't have to go through the water and set him down outside. From there, his training instincts came in. He dug through the little box and paid close attention to the hologram... another world? Great! He wasn't warned about this kind of anomaly happening!]
Guess we're not in Kansas anymore, Schwarz.
[Another bark from the dog, and that meant getting answers from the Schnee Company was the highest priority. After that, he had to to see if anyone else was here. He certainly hoped he wasn't alone in this place.]
[Accidental Video / Action]
[Somewhere along the way, Rowan's phone had slipped out of his hand and he'd accidentally turned on the video while slipping it into his damp pocket. He had to go clothes shopping as soon as possible now, but first he'd stopped by the supplied lodgings... only for the kid with a faint German accent to squeak in surprise.]
Wait, what do you mean pets aren't allowed? You mean Schwarz and I are out of luck?!
[Noooo, nonononono. This was bad. After getting a full explanation of the very strict "No Pets" policy, Rowan hung his head.]
Uhm... thank you... I guess.
[He turned over his key and started walking away and back into Genessia City's streets, carrying his canine companion.]
I'm not sure what we're gonna do now, buddy. I guess we hope this money will get us something temporary. Except I still need to get some new clothes...
[He pulled the phone back out of his pocket... only for the drenched teen to look at it in surprise and letting out another squeak.]
I-Is this thing on?!
[Anon Text]
[After he had his bearings a little more collected later in the day, there was one last thing he had to test. He'd do this before going to the Schnee Company, just in case. He can worry about the details from that place later.]
This is Unit Number 8482. Requesting response from Sector 098Σ.
Other worldly anomaly detected, threat level unknown.
If any unit from Squadron Grendel Orion is present, report to Malphas immediately.
[It's a shot in the dark, but the people he needs to hear from will understand it... it'll just be complete and utter gibberish to anyone else in this world.]

no subject
[Peter sounded almost amused.]
You brought a pet with you?
no subject
I didn't bring him on purpose! I'd rather not have my dog kidnapped with me!
But he was in that weird pod thing with me.
no subject
Well, guess you've got a friend at least. If you've got any others...they might or might not show up.
Everybody seems pretty bored and friendly around here though, so...hey. They won't let you in the housing or something?
no subject
Wait, people are bored here? Seriously? [He knows the hologram said the place was relatively safe - "relatively" being the keyword there - but how in the world could people be bored if they were displaced from their homes by some weird, presumably supernatural entity? Where was Sector personnel when he needed them?] ... You seem pretty casual about this whole thing too. Don't tell me it's happened to you before?
[Because it honestly wouldn't surprise him, given the nature of his job.]
Er, no. Apparently they don't allow pets, so I'm at a loss about what to do right now.
no subject
Or really, really friendly. I guess it could be that, too. I haven't really had exactly this happen before, I'll admit, but I've been kidnapped. Anyway, I've got an escape wiz here with me so I'm figuring I'll be home in a matter of time. [Unlike the last time.]
Duck into a cheap motel until you're settled? They've got some serious job shortages around here.
no subject
It seems awfully... nice, to be a standard kidnapping. What with the hologram and lack of things trying to immediately kill me. At least it's not a real life horror movie yet.
[It's a step up from life at home on occasion, honestly. ... for now, he assumes.]
Well... if you guys figure it out, make sure to tell us? I don't really... like being away from home for too long.
... wait, job shortages? It's not gonna be easy to get one here?
[He has a dog to feed, dammit!]
no subject
[Personal experience and whatnot.]
Can't really make a promise - we kind of fly by the seat of our pants sometimes. But if I get the chance, yeah, sure.
No, I said there's a serious lack of job shortages. At least I meant to.
no subject
Even if you could somehow leave a note written in a cipher, that's better than nothing.
[Not that he expects any kind of escape attempt anytime soon.]
O-oh. Thank goodness, I just misunderstood. [He'll take the fall for it this time.] I guess I have something else to look for... after I sort out the housing and clothing situations.
no subject
[They'd have to agree on one first anyway, wouldn't they? It sounded like way too much trouble.]
They got a paper every week, and a job office I think. You shouldn't have trouble.
no subject
[He laughed nervously. Probably should be thinking less about his secret operative job when talking to people in this weird mysteriously realm.]
They do? [This sounds way too easy.] Thanks a lot. Hopefully Schwarz and I will be off the streets in no time.
[... He hopes.]
Oh, uhm. I'm Rowan, by the way. Rowan McKnight.
no subject
Yeah, they're pretty used to people popping in here like this. Kinda weird how used to it they are, but at the same time... [He shrugs.]
Peter Quill. Some people call me Star-Lord.
[Yes, he's serious.]
Seeing Rowan's accidental video got her curious. It was like watching a body cam video with him talking over the mic but not visible. His voice seems plain enough that she didn't recognize who he is, until he realizes that the device was on the whole time.
Snorting and almost spitting her soda in sheer shock, Mariko's eyes got so wide and even pulled the screen of her device closer to make sure she wasn't dreaming ]
What the fu- Rowan?!
[ Well this would be the most awkward high school reunion ever. In the back of her mind, she wonders why this awkward boy of all people got pulled here? Why not her guardian Ringo, who possesses superpowers, or her own mom who apparently also did. It was a tense revelation, but still, this got Mariko thinking. ]
M-Mariko!? Wha- You're here too?!
[He caught himself before he asked her "What are you doing here" which would be a pretty stupid question because she's probably here for the same reason he is. A reason which... he is yet to figure out.
But the Ishiwatari heiress was here? If they got her, then that fills him with a new sense of dread. What the hell was going on here?!]
[ Mariko is sure that he didn't miss her sarcasm, but at least she'll be more willing to play nice now that they're both stuck here. Mariko sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose, realizing she needs to calm down here ]
Where are you headed now? I'll meet you there.
[He'll do his damnedest to figure it out, but it's not like he's gonna let onto that. Kinda classified info and all that.
He looks around the area, sighing a bit.]
I have no idea. I don't know what I should be doing first, finding a place to stay or getting new clothes.
[Since he's kind of... very wet. Because he was graceful in the Bay.]
[ Mariko is unaware of Rowan's alter ego, and still thinks of him as the awkward boy that she remembers back in high school. This is all still too weird for her to process, so hopefully what she's about to do next would help wrap this around her thick skull ]
I can be there in 15. Can you find a place to sit down on? Maybe the park? I know a place to get clothes for cheap.
Y-Yeah, there's a park just nearby, I can wait there. You're a life saver, Mariko.
[While he'll wait, he'll certainly be wondering just how long she's been here, and how she was able to go missing without anyone noticing. Something didn't add up. Someone of her status disappearing would cause a national stir for sure.]
[Video] -> [Action]
Once passed the threshold, Mariko grounds herself and sprints toward the park, all while her mind is preoccupied with conflicting thoughts. Once at the park, Mariko takes sometime to find Rowan. Her eyes dart left and right, thinking she should have asked where exactly he was, but luckily just when she was about to call him through the network, she sees that familiar posture, and suddenly she feels 16 years old again. ]
Rowan!
[ Mariko raises her arm to wave it around in the air, calling to her former classmate's attention ]
Never thought I'd see you again... and whoa, you have a dog?!
[Action]
He looks up when he hears his name, seeing Mariko approaching. On one hand, he felt overwhelmed with relief to see someone familiar, but at the same time... he didn't exactly like knowing they were both mysteriously kidnapped. Still, he smiles.]
H-Hey, Mariko. [He pauses and looks at Schwarz, who lets out a 'ruff'] Oh, yeah! He came with me when I transferred schools. This is Schwarz.
no subject
[ Mariko comments, shoving her hand in her pocket and walking towards Rowan. Only to hear that little bark and have her eyes be drawn by the sight of the cute doggie. She blushes despite her usual frown ]
And what kind of name is Schwarz?
[ Says the person with a dog named Weiss ]
Y-Yeah, he's been my buddy for a few years now, since I've been living away from home due to school.
[Schwarz lets out a little 'ruff' in response.]
I... guess he's my "explore another world" buddy now too.
I mean, this place isn't much, but it has to be new, and that's a good opportunity. People tend to get complacent. Also, I'd listen to Schwarz, he's a smart cookie.
I don't know, I think my feet are wet enough from that place we woke up in.
[And his clothes. And legs. And hair. And... well, yeah come on, he definitely slipped.]
It's... "new" alright. I'd almost say a bit too new. It's a little intimidating. [Schwarz gives another bark.] Yeah, Schwarz knows how to keep me in line. I'd be a fool not to listen to him.
Well, where're at? I can at least get you something dry.
[Michio focuses on Schwarz with a smile.]
It's good to have someone with you, but remember that even if it's new; life's too short to not make the most of it.
[Which he really did feel like a complete dunce about. He looked around.]
Uhm, I'm not entirely sure, but there's a nearby park. There aren't too many of those in the city, is there?
[Because that would be real useful. Saying he's "at a park" and then there turning out to be dozens of them.]
Those are wise words if I ever heard them. [Unfortunately, with his line of work, it's a concept he's very familiar with.] Hopefully we can make it here... er, if it is safe.
[Looking behind Rowan, Michio tried to discern some landmarks behind him.
Picking out one person in an entire city that more or less felt the same was going to be a task.]
There's only a couple, so wait there.
[He starts moving quickly now, though not enough to seem out of the ordinary.]
Something my Father liked to say. So far this place is a snooze-fest so unless it's the calm before the storm I'm not expecting much.
Ah, housing trouble. I'd loathe to see a man parted from his beast. Do you think you can find work in a week or two? If so, I may have a cure for what ails you.
[Schwarz lets out a bark and Rowan pouts a bit.]
He's a scottish terrier, not a beast! [How dare.] Uhm... someone told me there are job shortages here, so I don't know how quickly I could get anything.
Re: [Video]
Hello Schwarz! [It better be a black dog, in keeping with the name, or "Little red tree" here will have some 'splainin ta do]
Can't he be both? ["Beast" for Ted was merely descriptive, and had no negative connotations. He likes beasts very much.]
At any rate, I'm half-happy to tell you that whoever told you that was misinformed. This is about as easy a place to find work as you could ask for. So long as you're half-way competent, it's yours! They won't even check for licensing. [Though maybe that should've made him more wary than he was.]
So, you could get something within the day, I bet. What was your previous occupation?
[He'd love to think that was the case, but he's fully aware that he's wide awake. This place was real, and that made him uncomfortable.]
I didn't really have an occupation, outside of foreign exchange student. I was looking into bakery jobs at home, but I hadn't gotten far with it until this happened.
[Of course, he did have a real job at home, but top secret yadda yadda yadda.]
Re: [Video]
That's understandable. There's undeniably something dreamlike and not quite real about this place. Granted, one can dream in it, so it's definitely another caliber. It's exact nook in the temple of reality is hard to place.
[He would think about it but he's not exactly Aristotle]
The upshot and the upside is that yes, work really is that easy. So long as you put in the time and a modicum of effort, you ought to do just fine. There's plenty of entry level jobs to suit your interests too, of course. Have you checked the paper? I'm finished with mine if you'd like it. They always have people looking to hire.
[Video] | Sorry I'm late!
Yes it's on! Hello! I could take in your puppy for a few days while you find a place that allows doggies if you'd like. Or you could both stay with me a few days, even, though there isn't very much room...
[She'll make do though, for the sake of the dog.]
[Video] | I'm sorry I'M late orz
Ah, h-hi. That's really nice of you, but I wouldn't want to bother anyone like that. Especially if you don't have too much room. [He feels like he'd take up too much space. And on the inside, he's a bit wary - because he's trained to be suspicious of just about everything. Even if she is adorable.]
Would it be that hard to find a place that allows pets around here? I'd hate to let Schwarz mooch off of you while I have to go home hunting.
[Video] | It's okay my 4 day hiatus turned into 14
Oh, it’s no bother at all! It’s a one bedroom so I could always sleep on the couch in the living room. I’d hate for him to be separated from his best friend.
[She pauses, thinking his query over.]
Hmmm… I don’t think so? I haven’t heard of many places that have problems with pets. Lots of us have pokemon so lost landlords don’t mind them. But if you need to leave the cutie with me for a few days I really wouldn’t mind!
[She wants to boop the snoot.]
