[It had been a couple of days since Jyn had seen the familiar name on the communicator's feed. At the time, she had convinced herself that she was imagining things - and there were more important issues, as well, like getting reacquainted with the people she knew beyond a shadow of a doubt were here, in Genessia, like her.

Eventually, she couldn't resist the urge to reach out, though - the curiosity, need to know if the man who had called her "little sister", who had died for their cause as much as she had, was still there. Alive.

It takes her a few minutes, leaning back against the side of a building somewhere in Genessia City, to configure the call. When she has it, it almost surprises her.]

Baze? Baze Malbus?

[Baze hadn't had a working communicator long enough to used to it yet, really. He isn't expecting it to go off, or to hear a familiar voice through the speakers as he sat in his temporary room with a book.

A smile crosses his face when he sees her on the screen, one-dimensional though it was. The smile still wasn't much, but it was something.]

Jyn Erso. I was wondering.

[kestrel_dawn]

[It is him. Somehow, even though she knew the odds of someone else having the name "Baze Malbus" were slim, she hadn't considered what to do if it really was him. She smiles, one of her first smiles since arriving here.]

I got here a while ago. [A couple of weeks.] I didn't know you were here. Cassian and Bodhi are here, too. And Kaytoo.

[And, quieter,] It's good to see you.

[noguardian]

I've seen them. [For a moment he feels bad for not having sought her out - but he had asked K2-SO to let everyone know he was there. To give her the option. He had also been spending what time he could alone.]

You too, little sister. [He repeats the words, even though he wasn't quite sure what it was exactly about her that had led him to them the first time. It felt necessary now.] They have you at that madhouse?

Oh, good. I'm glad. [Of course, she wouldn't blame him for not looking for her. If she hadn't been contacted, she probably would have spent some time on her own before seeking them out.]

Yeah. Mostly, I am. [She's spending a lot of time out of the crowded apartment, though, and more often than not she's somewhere on the streets. Keeping out of people's way, she would claim.]

[She doesn't say that the title makes her feel better, but it does.]

Too crowded for me. [He shrugs a little.]

You working in a cantina too? [It was a way to check on her as well as find out some more of the options around there. His tone made it a little obvious that he doubted it.]

Me too. [She smiles very slightly.] I walk a lot.

No. I haven't looked yet. [She's planning on it. But she didn't come to terms right away with the idea of permanence, and she's rarely worked a regular 9-5 job, so she's been putting it off and exploring instead.] Been thinking about it. What about you?

[noguardian]

I did that. I kept getting attention for some reason. [It was easier to joke about that now.]

Nothing yet. Got a little more time in here to go though.

[kestrel_dawn]

Can't imagine why. [She's teasing, a little.]

Right, fair enough. I've been keeping an eye out. Are you still staying in the common housing?

[noguardian]

Heh.

I am. They offered, but... [He trails off with a shrug. It was too crowded, too busy, too...much, just then. The walls here were thin but at least there was something familiar about that.] We could try looking together, bound to find something that way.

[Her path is clear, Chirrut had said once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away.]

Yeah. I understand. [She nods at the suggestion, smiling faintly.] That could work. We should meet up somewhere.

[She's not used to not doing things alone yet, but.. it feels right.]

You have that map? There's an employment office. [That seemed like a good place to start. Better than wandering the streets.]

[kestrel_dawn]

Yeah. We'll meet there - is now good?

[noguardian]

It's good. I'll see you there.
