I'd like to gently remind all the City Guardian candidates that this is not the position of a ruler, nor a legislator, nor medical professional. This is a job to protect people. A job to protect them not only physically, but also protect their rights and way of life. Your personal opinion about their beliefs doesn't matter, and you certainly don't have legislative capabilities outside of your role in the criminal justice system.

That said, it sounds like there are plenty of great candidates who do understand what the actual job is, and I look forward to a fair and positive competition against Captain Kirk and anyone else who should choose to run for Nova City.

Would one or both of you mind being substitute Guardians for some time on Saturday? I'd like to treat my deputies to a team-building trip but I also don't want to leave the city unprotected.

We're going to the beach this Saturday. It's a mandatory team-building exercise trip. If you need waterproofing spray for any parts, I found some at a local store. It turns out plenty of cyborgs enjoy swimming. I will make certain we have someone to hold down the fort and keep us posted if disaster strikes and we have to rush back, and we'll be in one of our own subarchways so if something does happen, we can make it back somewhat quickly.

Just to play Devil's Advocate for the moment - I really have no say in the matter - but wouldn't the vague umbrella of "protection" entail legislative, rulers, and medical professionals? It's simply a matter of what kind of protection wouldn't you say?

No, it wouldn't. Have none of you actually read the job description? Telling people that they shouldn't be using magic for medical care is not our job. Law enforcement is just that- it exists to enforce the law, not make it up. There are literally other jobs for that and if someone wants to run for mayor, that's what they should do.

And just so we're clear, I'm not trying to discredit my opponent or anything with this. From what I know about the Captain so far, he's an entirely sane candidate who actually understands what the job is.

It's not exactly a vacation- it's only a day, and I'm getting Gale and Cassian to keep things in line while we're gone, so some of us will need to relieve them around sunset. Pokemon are entirely acceptable- we do utilize them as members of our team, after all.

I only spoke to him once, but he strikes me as capable and dedicated, and he has the long-term experience in Attleton that I lack. And I'd be lying if I said that law enforcement doesn't interest me.

[Mobius hasn't exactly let himself out since the circus, but the Guardian thing is getting his interest a little. Especially with how ludicrous some candidates are being.]

While it is obvious just from the job description; it also feels a lot more open to the voters to at least talk about your stances on issues, hence "advocating".
