Spring, April 24th - A Wild Ayame (Re)Appears!
Action - Genessia City Garden Park
Video - Public
[ Ayame had been keeping to herself, feeling drained of socializing energy. It's been over a month since she showed her face in the network, and she's just been keeping busy with training Mirai in tailoring and saving up money. She haven't been keeping touch with her friends and hasn't even been showing up to bars and casinos like she tends to do, opting to practice her skills in baking, cooking, singing, and playing the guitar instead. But today seems like the day she feels rested and ready to mingle again. Ayame enjoys the spring weather with a picnic mat set up on the park's lawn, where a full-grown tiger is sleeping on the side, and a Gardevoir with a cherry blossom hairclip is quietly watching over the assorted foods that's way too much for one or even three individuals.
Not far from the picnic set-up, are over a dozen students clad in sparring gear and the gym uniform of Second Honnouji Academy. The students train and spar with trainer weapons, based on historical swords from longswords, messer, katana, sabres, rapiers, & bucklers. Among them is Ayame, who is wearing something not very well-suited for sparring. But despite the nylon sabre in her hand she's not here to fight, but to instruct. Ayame isn't an official faculty member of the Academy, but some of the students know her enough from her frequent visits there to train kyudo with Satsuki in the mornings. Ayame uses the training sword as a teacher's pointer stick as she watches the students spar with different weapons. Ayame calmly instructs a pair with a katana going against a messer and buckler ]
You are doing good by keeping the point of the katana forward, you are keeping him at bay and making him think high. But you need to improve on your footwork. You had a lot of chances of slipping your sword around his buckler and get a good cut across his torso, but you are too far to strike whenever the opening presents itself. Move those feet.
[ Ayame lightly taps on the student's leg before turning her attention to the next pair, with a longsword against another ]
Remember, a sword isn't just a cleaver or a poker, use your halfswording techniques when he gets within grappling range.
[ Ayame pats one of the tired student's shoulder as she continues to walk away to her picnic mat, handing the nylon sabre to another student. The students comply to Ayame's instructions without question, and helping each other out by correcting each other's mistakes. Right before she makes herself comfortable on the mat, she looks at any on-looker with a kind wave and a nod. Anybody close enough for her to speak to, she says: ]
Come to watch them practice or simply enjoying the beautiful spring weather?

[ While still at the park and enjoying her homemade foods with Gardevoir and her cat-temporarily-turned-tiger Hibiki, Ayame fiddles with her comm device while using Hibiki as a backrest. She thinks of how long it's been she talked to people outside of her job, and quietly sighs at her difficulties in socialization. She figures it's worth a shot to go out of her comfort zone, so after some internal pep talking, Ayame starts the video. ]
Hello. How are you all this beautiful spring day? To those who I have yet to meet, my name is Ayame. I quite enjoy this season, and it's a perfect time to try something I've been wanting to, which is to go camping deep in the forest. Although, it's difficult to find a perfect place to do this that isn't Fayren, with the outbreak of the Chimera infection, I don't see this being a pleasant experience to magic-wielders. Are there any good secondary options for a good camping spot? I would appreciate any good suggestions.
If not, well, I figured now that we're here we might as well get to know each other. Maybe over some drinks sometime? I know a good bar.
Video
From what I've seen of this place you can't really get very deep into anything. If Fayren's got a spot I'd say wait it out. That stuff was supposed to be almost under control when I got here. And-
[There's a pause, and a kind of childish glee lights his eyes.]
Hold up. Is that a tiger?
no subject
Mm. Yes, it is.
[ Ayame nods with a small smile at the edge of her lips, brushing Hibiki's chin with her fingers while she points the camera more towards herself and her pet. ]
Say hi, Hibiki.
[ Hibiki only groans, burying his face down on his arms causing Ayame's smile to widen momentarily out of amusement ]
He's got a food coma, so he just wants to sleep.
no subject
But right- you were gonna say something, weren't you?
no subject
[ Ayame gives Hibiki some more face rubs, to which the large cat responded eagerly to, sticking the tip of it's tongue out afterwards ]
Your nickname. Star-Lord. Is that some sort of title of nobility?
no subject
You can think of it like a code-name.
[He is still a little enraptured by that tiger, okay.]
They got tigers somewhere around here I should know about?
no subject
[ Ayame nods. While she's not judging or thinking it's weird to have a code name, she's curious about how he got it and where. But his question brought his enraptured mind about the tiger into Ayame's attention. ]
No. Hibiki here is actually a stray cat I found in Fayren, but I turned him into a tiger for today. He likes feeling large sometimes, it must be due to how much delicious meats he can afford to eat in this form.
[ Hibiki rolls to lie on his back, giving another guttural groan as his way of asking for belly rubs from his master. Ayame complies, giving her pet some scratches with her slender fingertips ]
no subject
Okay, you know, I think that might be more awesome. I don't actually know much about magic - they just don't have it where I'm from. Was it, I don't know, hard?
no subject
My abilities isn't a product of magic or sorcery, if you can believe it. Many people think of it as such, but it's just a natural form of manipulating matter and energies around me.
[ Her powers are a lot closer to that of a Celestial than of actual magic, although she can draw from dimensions for magical or "mystic" energies, she can't perform spells or rituals used by sorcerers. ]
You can call it an advanced form of telekinesis. I can control things down to the subatomic level, and alter things to my specifications.
no subject
Ha, ha that would be useful if he knew anything about Celestials right now other than that they're pretty much dead and Knowhere's in one of their skulls.]You know that kind of more impressive, right? Just checking. Where you're form's gotta be pretty wild.
no subject
I suppose you could say that. I don't really know where you are from to compare how "wild" mine is.
[ Ayame nods, tucking a wisp of hair behind her right ear, regaining her composure. ]
Perhaps you'll be more willing to tell me in person, Star-Lord? I've been to many places this multiverse has to offer, but I never tire of hearing what other worlds out there are like.
no subject
[Peter offers a smile that's a little more charming.]
If you like stories you're definitely in the right place - I have got some awesome ones.
[And barely any of them needed embellishment!]
When and where? I'm pretty free.
[Video] -> [Action]
[ What with having a tiger and a Gardevoir and all. By the time Peter arrives, the training teenagers would have left for home. Ayame stays in the same spot she was when she was talking with Peter, only now Hibiki is out and about, chasing a butterfly with his big meaty paws, with Gardevoir making sure he doesn't hurt anybody. Ayame relaxes with a cold brew coffee and a straw, turning to look at Peter when he arrives, giving him a small quip in greeting. ]
Hopefully the traffic wasn't terrible.
[ She raises the jar of coffee in her hand, making the ice cubes clink against the glass while she gestures to the open spot on her picnic mat ]
Re: [Video] -> [Action]
What traffic?
[He asks back, teasing, with a quick smirk and a quicker hand to his thigh to fire the booster rockets - just enough to leave the ground and show off before landing... more or less gracefully and making his way to the open spot on the blanket.]
[Action]
[ Ayame banters back, watching Peter closely as he makes himself comfortable on the picnic mat. She eyes his clothes, trying to deduce whatever she could off of it, but she can't make ones she feels confident in. ]
I doubt those thrusters are technology available to Genessia City. Are you more of a Nova City man, Peter?
Re: [Action]
He pats his leg next to the thruster controls almost affectionately in response to the question though.]
Probably should be but it's a little too fancy for my liking. Anyway, Genessia kind of reminds me of where I was born. And I got no problem being in the middle of things.
[Action]
I'm the same way.
[ Ayame puts her coffee down on the side before she places her hands on her lap. Right next to her are books and baskets for her "little" picnic. ]
Genessia strikes a perfect balance of technology and laid-back life, don't you think? It reminds me of certain places in Earth where I'm from. While it's mostly like Nova City, some places remain like this, untouched by the rapid advancement of my world.
[ Like her hometown in Japan. There's some futuristic tech here and there, but hardly commonplace that the town manages to retain it's old look ]
Am I wrong to assume you are from Earth? Most of us seem to be. I even have enough of my countrymen here.
Re: [Action]
[He takes in the tableau before him, the pile of books, the baskets he doesn't let his eyes linger on too long. The tiger in the distance he's still keeping half an eye on because he got charged once in this park before and no way in hell was he going to have to jet away from an overgrown housecat.]
All I've got here's Rocket, and he's not from Earth. I've kind of been from like anywhere but since I was like nine. The places like Nova, they tend to be kinda...pretentious. Little too strict for me.
If yours is so high tech did you guys get into space? I don't mean like, footprints on the moon, I'm talking first contact stuff.
[He had a dozen other questions to ask, too.]
no subject
[ Ayame hums, nodding before following Peter's attention directed towards Hibiki before turning it back to him ]
Well, the simple answer is yes. Our civilization does possess space-travel capabilities, but it's limited at this time to the edge of the solar system. If we're only talking about space travel through faster-than-light ships. Our only current achievements with those are bases and a city in the Moon, and a research outpost in Mars.
However, my Earth has rifts in space-time that can not only take us to specific far-flung parts of the universe, but also to completely different ones as well. But that is a very closely guarded secret to the public unlike the ships. Not every alien civilization we've encountered through those rifts were so diplomatic.
no subject
Okay, I am pretty sure mine didn't have that. Last time I looked, anyway. We, uh, stuck a guy on the moon for a couple minutes, and keep sending out messages that...honestly just get laughed at. Go figure.
Out in space though? You've got tons of worlds that've gotten their acts together and are mingling, travel out the ass- [He looks briefly apologetic for the language, she has a little bit of that effect.] all of that.
My... huh. Old boss I guess? One time kidnapper? Had this implant, right? Looked like some kind of mohawk but let him control this special arrow just by whistling.
no subject
That does not sound like any technology I've encountered. How interesting.
[ Ayame comments, taking a quick sip of her iced coffee. Her world is capable of many advanced technologies, since they're reverse-engineered from what ancient people called "gods" and made religions out of. But she's never encountered a whistle-operated weapon, or even heard about something the operates similarly other than the telekinetically controlled improvised weapons she used in the past. They're no where near as cool as that arrow. ]
Though as much as I'd like to ask you about these worlds, this old boss of yours, I can only assume that first meeting must have been difficult.
no subject
[He sounds almost nostalgic, and it's clear that he's still just as impressed with the arrow as he was as a kid. When she mentions it though, his mind drifts back to that first meeting, to the events before it. His face falls but he shakes his head clear and shrugs.]
I don't mind talking about 'em. It has been a long time. First meeting... well I mean I was a kid. One minute I'm cry- kicking back in parking lot, and the next I'm on a ship surrounded by some kind of space biker gang getting unimpressed looks from this blue guy. It's, uh, kind of a blur.
[That was partially true at least, and Peter turns to picking at a picked blade of grass, hands hovering over his lap instead.]
Pardon the delay!
I see.
[ Ayame responds. She's a woman of few words most of the time, so she doesn't have a lot to say to express her sympathy other than the tone of her voice and micro-expressions. She figures to give Peter a break in talking about his world for now, and talk about her's again in a bit. First, she offers him something: ]
Have you ever had macarons?
[ Ayame offers, holding a plastic tray with rows of baked cookies of different colors and flavors. ]
I made them myself; I'm practicing my pastry making skills now that I actually have the freedom to do so. My life before Genessia wasn't as... normal, either. Would you believe that I was just human before I got these abilities?
It's fine!
Can't say I have.
[He debates, looking between the different colors before finally deciding on one and plucking it off of the tray. He bites into it as he speaks, and is very quickly making a very pleased sound, flashing a thumbs up.]
Why not? [He answers a little too quickly, but swallows to clear his mouth after.] I've heard of weirder stuff. These are really good though.
no subject
[ Ayame though, only took it with a grain of salt. For Peter hasn't had any of these before, so he has nothing to compare it to. Still, it was enough to make her a little happy ]
But as to my nature. In my world, we're the only ones like this. Humans turned into... something more. Something greater. As my father would say it, at least.
no subject
[Having these first just meant that any others he had in the future would be measured against them.]
Huh. That's gotta be... [Peter tried to feel around for the right word, eventually shrugging a bit hopelessly.] Tough? Lonely? Was it something you wanted?
