( CLOSED ACTION)
Who; Seth Rim & Dorian Pavus
What; It's a date with discussion of intrigue & history & wine.
Where; Velvet Lust
When; May 27th
Warnings; N/A Will update if needed
[Seth steps through into the bar at 8:00 pm sharp. He's wearing what he'd arrived in having a deep affection for button down shirts and vests. His hair looks as if it might have been brushed but the messy white locks have broken free and were now framing a pair of liquid gold eyes. His eyes had been paler when Dorian and Seth first spoke, a small change that no doubt Dorian would notice.
He scans the room but doesn't see Dorian among it's many occupants. He picks a table that's in view of the door and waits. He doesn't mind waiting. There is a relaxed confidence to Seth in everything that he does and as he's approached by the waitress he simply informs her that he's waiting for someone before politely sending her off to address another customer.
Seth's features are fair and his skin pale, only appearing darker next to the stark white of his hair. Seth is tall, almost reaching six feet but average in size. He doesn't look particularly muscular or thin. There were a few people around him staring over at him curiously though Seth doesn't give them any mind.
When Dorian arrives he'll easily spot Seth at a fair table with a soft smile playing across his lips. He might notice that Seth's belt doesn't match the rest of his attire. It's made of worn leather with runes burned into it's surface. There was also a small group of golden bells tied on a thin white string through his belt loop. Seth is many things but a liar isn't one of them; he came with bells on.]

It's the way the world developed as technology replaced faith.
[Seth holds out his hand, producing a golden light in his palm. It moved like a mixture of sand and fine threads, looping and lacing together to form a shape.] You can show people magic but they have to see it to believe it. Those with the talent of magic don't realize it and as the art has been lost, so too have the abilities.
[Another moment passes and an apple blossom appears in Seth's hand. He drops it onto the table, lightly flicking it over towards Dorian.]
no subject
[He shakes his head at how ridiculous that even sounds.]
Honestly, It would be just as simple to think a hamster out of existence...or into it. [He makes a motion.] Magic on Earth is no different than, say...a rare bird. Tell me, would every Earther believe this bird to exist, though rare, and thus unable to be seen by everyone? Yes, certainly, one could, oh, capture an image with one of those cameras, but images can be altered. Would they believe the bird to be real, not having seen it?
[He watches the apple blossom, a slight smile on his lips.]
You know, [He takes the flower in his hand.] I'm beginning to believe the people of Earth are a bit lacking in mental faculties...present company excluded, of course.

[He takes a sip of his wine.]
Thank you.
[A light smile teases his lips as his tongue flicks over the ring around his lower lip..]
Earth is my home. I'm rather fond of the people there. As short sighted as they usually are.
no subject
[He taps his chin thoughtfully for a moment.]
People of Earth have visited their moon, haven't they? Or so it's believed. Have you?
no subject
[Seth chuckles softly.]
Visit the moon? No but I have a good idea what it might look like. Why do you ask?
[He is sure that Dorian has a reason behind his inquiry though Seth isn't sure what that reason is.]
no subject
[He smiles.]
And that is my point. The don't believe in magic because they don't know the calculations behind it. The mathematics required to travel to the moon are accessible, so they believe it because they can see it is possible, even if they haven't seen the theory put into practice.
[He grabs a bar napkin and pulls from the satchel at his hip a piece of scribe's charcoal, hastily but accurately drawing three bisected circles, runes filling each.]
A fireball spell. This is the math required to perform magic. No different from moon travel, really.
no subject
Believe it or not. Not everyone believes that people truly walked on the moon. Some think that it had been staged. [He's seen into the minds of a lot of people through their dreams and some are rather forceful in their views. It's hard to miss, even in the dream world.]
I wish everyone thought as you did.
[He takes a small sip from his glass.]
You don't plan to cast your spell?
[Seth asks with a teasing smile.] You don't have to convince me Dorian. I agree with you but there are so many close minded people in my world. I'm sure that's true everywhere.
no subject
[He smiles coyly.]
Yes, well, we can't all be this brilliant, can we?
[And a chuckle.]
If you'd like a more practical demonstration, we'll need to head somewhere a lot less comfortable, and I don't want to.
no subject
[A smirk tugs at Seth's lips.]
Maybe another time. I don't plan for this to be the last time I see you. [He has no intentions of going anywhere and he enjoys Dorian's company.
Seth rises his wine to his lips taking another small sip.] This is an amazing wine. I'll have to get it again.
no subject
Only if it's with me. I hear pleasant company enhances flavor.
FTB?
I'll make a point of it.
[His tongue drags against his lower lip, flicking the silver glint of metal in his tongue before taking another sip of the delicious wine.]
