Summer Illusion: Entering the political race [Video]
[As the feed turns on, Mavis appears on screen wearing her usual big bright smile. She's standing in front on Fairy Haven, a proud expression on her face.
Despite how young she looks, she seems very calm, collected and confident. It's not the first time she speaks in public, nor is it the first time she's candidate to become Fayren's Guardian. This time again Zeref nominated her. Of course, he didn't say anything to Mavis but it was not very difficult to guess.
She slightly clears her throat.]
Good Morning, everyone!
I'm Mavis Vermillion, Guild Master of Fairy Tail, and maybe soon, if you decide to vote for me, the next Guardian of Fayren.
There's a reason why the headquarters of Fairy Tail are based in Fayren. That's because it's the part of Genessia that reminds me of home the most. In Earthland, the world I come from, mages, non mages and dragons have learnt to live together peacefully. And I believe we can achieve the same thing here.
I've collaborated with the Guardian and Deputy in the past to defend the mages of Fayren. [Who seem to be targeted far more often than non mages lately.] So, I know that the Guardian cannot succeed alone. But if you elect me and support me, I can promise that I will spare no effort to make sure every citizen of Fayren feels considered, equal to the others and safe.
Thank you for listening to me and now, if you have any questions, I'll be more than happy to answer them!
[Big green eyes stare at the feed expectantly. Go for it, people! Don't hold back. She's ready.]

What is preventing the dragons from living peacefully with the other creatures of Fayren?
Nothing does. And nothing ever should.
Just like nothing does prevent mages and non mages from leaving peacefully together. And nothing even should. [And yet, the Hands of Decay happened.]
So you believe we can achieve living together peacefully when it has more or less already been achieved?
[He knows things are never perfect, and this world is a hell of a lot less hostile than his own.]
Peace is always a work in progress. Even when it's achieved, as you say, it still needs to be maintained at the very least.
When I arrived here, people questionned the fact that people should try to live peacefully with dragons. Now the situation seems to have improved on that front, fortunately. However, it has deteriorated between mages and non mages.
I believe in people and in dragons. In my world, they've showed they could be partners and respect each other. But they've been wars too.
Maybe it's because of my own past. I just have a habit of not taking peaceful times for granted.
[She smiles at Qubine.] Would you act any differently as a guardian?
[He takes in the answer for a moment.]
Sometimes the best way to live in peace is to live separately. The dragons of Fayren would not allow me to join them, so I've seen fit to respect their privacy. We are more or less the same way in Sornieth. We live in our clans, have our own territories in the world, and keep to ourselves for the most part. Some clans are more accepting of outsiders than others.
So as far as Fayren is concerned, I believe it best to leave the dragons alone unless something happens that would necessitate contacting them.
As for the mages, that was because of the Hands of Decay? Their situation would be much more...delicate on that front.
[Though Qubine believes that the Hands were foolish to try to eradicate mages for no reason, and people were foolish to allow them to influence their views on mages, but he keeps that to himself.]
Mages and non-mages can work together so much more easily. They can blend in with each other more easily. To restore peaceful relations would require cooperation from both groups. So what is your plan?
I would agree with that but it would have to be something the dragons agree on to. We would have to establish that, although the interactions between our communities would remain rare, we would mutually agree to assist each other in times of need.
[If dragons wish to be left alone, so be it. But people had to be aware of that and know that it was not because they didn't meddle with humans that they were enemies.]
It looks like it should be easier, doesn't it? In my world, some dragons can take a human appearance if they need to blend in. But getting people to work together takes more than just 'looking alike'.
My plan is to show non mages that mages consider themselves as humans because they see themselves as mages. That mages have abilities they don't but it doesn't mean they're superior. Working together and leaving peacefully implies that we're aware of our differences but focus on what brings us together.
I believe in my heart that most people are genuinely good and want to create positive relationships with each other. That doesn't mean we have to see eye to eye on everything but at least we're willing to set our disagreements aside. Those who don't want that are the reason why a Guardian is needed.
I'm certain that we will. Whether I am elected or not, I would be willing to serve as a "mutual ground" between dragons and...others, when the need arises.
The ability to take on a human appearance...I suppose that is an ability to envy. In Sornieth, we are not so powerful as that. Even our elemental abilities are but a fraction of power granted to us by our respective deities.
As for showing others that mages consider themselves as humans...only the mages themselves can do that, really. The best thing we can do is supervise, to make sure war doesn't break out. Once it reaches that point, it can be very difficult to achieve peace. Believe me, I speak from experience on that matter.
It is... When it is wanted. Most people I met who have that ability feel like it prevents them from fully beloging to either community.
That's what I believe too. [Mavis answered with a nod.] I'm glad we agree on that. It means that whichever of us is elected, we'll be able to work together to maintain peace.
A...curious sentiment. I would think that living among humans would give us a better understanding of them. With my size, I cannot even enter most of these...buildings. So living with humans would be impossible. At least Fae dragons would have an easier time with that...
[Qubine gives a nod.]
Indeed. It's good to know that Fayren will be in good hands, regardless of how this election turns out.

((OoC: Sorry I'm so late; Zeref's mun sent me this, and I missed it originally due to work.))
I know I can always count on your support, Erza.
According to what I saw I have some serious competition, but I know I can do it!
[[OOC: No worries. :) I never mind late tags or backtagging. I know RL can make it tough to keep up with everything.]]
((OoC: I see all! Haha jk - we all make typos.))
If I'm elected, I'm counting on you to be Fayren's Deputy.
[[OOC: No, you didn't see anything. :P *distracts you with cookies and cake.]]
I'd be honoured to be your Deputy, and I'll do everything I can to make this a better place. [Well, that and try to use that position to get free cake somehow.]
That's the right attitude. [But trying to use your position to get free cake is not Erza. But if they do a really good job, maybe people will thank them by offering them cake? A girl can dream.]
