Bond 008 [Action/Event] Victim
He's been watching some award shows back home, so it's no surprise for him to go to the Genessia Awards wearing his usual formal wear. During the whole show, Sycamore is impressed by the awards given to the winners and honorable mentions while sometimes questioning some of the awards such as the Unluckiest Person award. But one of the winners he supported is Sonico as he joined in the applause after she won the Best Singer award.
Once the after party has begun, Sycamore then spends the whole having some conversations and congratulating the winners. So far, it's just a normal night in Genessia. That is until the earthquake and the appearance of the mysterious spirits.
[Action] The Chaos Begins
As the spirits start to attack the guests inside the building, Professor Sycamore wastes no time not only to escape the chaos but also try to help them evacuate the building. He is not alone though as he takes out his Garchomp while helping out a guest and shouts, "Garchomp, Dragon Pulse!"
With one blast of green energy fired from her mouth, some of the spirits fled from the Mach Pokemon, yet it isn't enough to stop the rest of them from attacking them.
[Action] To The Safe House and Mega Evolution
Once he hears David Haller's video feed and telepathy, Sycamore knows that the shelter might be the best way to get away from the spirits, so he quickly heads there immediately. Yet, he is not the type to abandon any endangered residents as uses his time getting to the shelter by helping out some of the residents get to safety while commanding most of his Pokemon to defend them from the spirits. And knowing what the Genessia City Guardian said about these spirits stealing the residents' emotions, he fears his Pokemon's safety as he commands Noir, Graine, and Garchomp to use only ranged attacks to prevent physical contact.
After you try to join in or defend the Pokemon Professor from the spirits, he starts to realize that if he attacks at this pace, no one will escape here alive. "I guess I have no choice then... Garchomp, I think it's time to show our strong bond to these creatures!"
Realizing what her trainer meant, Garchomp quickly rejoined his side as he gives her Mega Stone. Once he did, all that's left is for Sycamore to touch his Key Stone on his watch and shouts, "Now Garchomp, Mega Evolve!"
With a bright light flashed on his Key Stone, Garchomp's Mega Stone starts to shine as several beams fired from both of their stones before they joined together. And after a flash of bright light enveloped the Dragon/Ground-type, Garchomp's appearance has completely changed into a more ferocious version of herself as she roars into the sky.
[Action] The Sacrifice
After the path is cleared, Sycamore continues his way to the shelter as he runs with all of his remaining energy. As for his Garchomp, she is clearly exhausted from using her Mega-Evolved from as she also uses her remaining energy to protect her trainer.
But because of her exhaustion, she ends up tripping on the ground while she tries to protect an injured resident, causing the spirit to use this chance to attack. Of course, Sycamore notices this and quickly rushes in to defend the man and his Mach Pokemon. Unfortunately, his selfless act causes him to be captured by the spirit as well before it quickly absorbs most of his emotions immediately, much to Garchomp's horror.
With Professor Sycamore now as a soulless husk of his former self, he ends up aimlessly wandering around the area or he might try to do something worst like using a broken glass to harm any nearby resident or walking into a dangerous area. Regardless, you may hear Garchomp's wailing in her attempt to call for help.
[NOTES: According to his permissions post, killing him to heal him is a big no-no for me. For now, the objective is that you have to join Garchomp and help her capture Professor Sycamore before he does something reckless or use any healing methods to stop him.]

[Action] The Sacrifice
But she does know how a dragon looks like, even if the one she sees is not exactly like the one in her world. Her four hands are busy, one holding a pistol crossbow, the other a shield and the last two carrying a warhammer.
Despite that, she lowers her weapons and looks directly at the creature, wondering what's wrong with it. She's seen enough dragons before to know not to approach them unless they're properly trained, and even then it's a risk. She misses riding them, though, it's been a while since she flew with one.]
Why so loud, darling? You don't look like one of those spirits.
Re: [Action] The Sacrifice
Speaking of which when they able to reach him, they may able to see Professor Sycamore, who is now mindlessly staring at the glass shard on the nearby broken car.]
no subject
Easy, easy. I can't understand what you are saying, I don't speak dragon...oh. [A man staring blankly at the ground is also not an usually view and the mercenary catches up fairly quickly.] Is that your rider then? Your partner?
[She looks briefly at Garchomp before approaching Sycamore, waving a hand in front of his eyes.] Hello. That's a really fascinating piece of junk you are looking at but...are you okay?
Sorry, no emotionless icons... :P
Yet after she waves her hand in front of him, Sycamore notices her presence as he turns around and stares at the four-armed woman for a few seconds. But before she even knows it after that, he slowly picks up one of the large glass shards on the floor and starts to swing it to Ildiko!
Of course, Garchomp stared at the whole scene in horror as she roars to her trainer to stop.]
No worries, that's fine! And let me know if this is okay, I don't want to be godmod-y
That was a really rude way to say hello to a lady like me.
[For someone who owned a dragon, the man doesn't look like the rider warriors she knows. It's even more obvious now that they're closer and she can see his vacant eyes better. Ildikó pushes against the man's arm with force and then takes a step back to put some distance between them.]
There are others in Fayren with that look on their faces. They weren't quick enough...[The woman frowns and then glances briefly at Garchomp.] Did a spirit touch him?
That's okay! It's better if there are surprises!
However, she didn't have time to think about it as she quickly sees her trainer aimlessly swings his glass shard to Ildiko before she roars out to her as if she is saying "Look out!"]
Haha, that's true. Thanks! And agh, fighting scenes are so hard to describe
Thanks for the warning, scaly. [Ildikó speaks out loud for the dragon to hear her before continuing.] And now, don't get mad about this.
[ Different things happen all at once, the loudest one being the hammer dropping to the ground so Ildikó can have two of her hands free. With practiced ease, she steps one leg beside Sycamore, grabs him by the shoulders and pushes him backwards. A second later Ildikó moves her leg around and behind his ankle while pushing to sweep the man off his feet and onto his back.
It's a little tricky to pull it out properly while still holding a shield and a crossbow, however, and she's not 100% certain it would work. Fighting is much easier when you can just kick or stab people...but she's trying to do as little damage as possible here.]
no subject
Unfortunately, Professor Sycamore slowly stands up in an attempt to recover and attack his "enemies" while he grips the glass shard very tightly. If Ildiko looks closely, you can see that his hand starts to bleed because of the latter.
But not wanting to let him hurt the four-armed woman again, Garchomp knows that she can't stand around and helplessly watches her trainer's soulless husk hurt anyone. She then runs up to him and used her arms to pin him down while carefully avoiding her scythe-like blades to make a scratch on his skin.]
no subject
She has never seen a dragon move to swiftly and she's fairly impressed by it. Too bad she can waste time, because the rider is going to end cutting off his own fingers. Ildikó moves over him, using two of her arms to help Garchomp keep him down and the other to try and pry open his hand before it's too late. Her own arms and hand is covered in blood but the only thing that bothers Ildikó is that everything is too slick at the moment.]
I suppose that knocking him unconscious is a no-no? [She addresses the Pokemon again, giving her a raised eyebrow.] If that's not an option, I suggest either tying him down or lock him somewhere. Do you know any good place to do that?
no subject
Thankfully, it is quickly confiscated by Ildiko as she manages to pry it off from his hand before it gotten serious. As for how to stop him from escaping, all Garchomp can reply is by staring at the nearby car, which is somehow undamaged from the chaos.]
Shit, sorry I thought I had replied this
Got it. [Sorry Garchomp, she's still going to punch Sycamore to try and leave him unconscious because everything would be easier that way. Ildikó is very in favor of combat pragmatism.] It's for his own good, promise.
That's okay! I'm just glad you replied on time.
Once the deed is done, Garchomp quickly opens the door and if Ildiko opens the door for her (due to each of her hands having a single claw), she manages to put her trainer inside before she closes the car door.
After that, the Mach Pokemon bows her head as a sign of thanks for helping her out regarding her now emotionless trainer.]
thank you, and sorry again!
That way he won't try to hurt himself. I don't know what got into him but if you keep an eye on him I'll see if I can find someone to help. A healer or magic users seems like the best option

[Action] The Sacrifice
There's a lull in the action around Genessia City, and now seems to be a good time to catch his breath and reassess where he's most needed. That's when he hears Garchomp. He'd had his pokemon fight with her often enough; by now he knew the sound of her voice. Eventually, he'd figure out that hearing her at all is bad news; she shouldn't be out here! If the spirits so much as touch her, they'd...well, best not find out. He tosses a few threads in every direction, jumping into and out of them until he finds the Mach Speed pokemon. Boy is Sycamore getting such a lecture for this irresponsibility!]
"Garchomp! It's me, Ted. Where's Sycamore? Are either of you hurt? Safe? Do you need an escort to the nearest safehouse?"
[He's not the brightest bulb in the bunch, given that Garchomp can't speak English. Hopefully her pantomime is on point.]
Re: [Action] The Sacrifice
If Ted looks closely, not only he can see his vacant eyes that represent his lack of emotions, but also his bloodied hand after he gripped the glass shard too tightly when he tried to escape from Garchomp's attempts to hold him down.]
Re: [Action] The Sacrifice
[The beasts use their limbs so ably, don't they? He's glad, at least, that the pokemon with fins and spikes for hands cuts to the chase and leads him onward. Ted is, sadly, not the most observant would-be hero in the world, and doesn't catch on right away that something might be wrong with the professor.]
"Sycamore! You ass, what are you doing out here when there's empty spirits filling the air! We're getting to the safe-house, full stop. Come on."
[Forcefully, he'll try and grab the professor's wrist and escort him that way.]
"Perhaps a trail of altruism led you to such a dangerous place. I don't know. Ah, don't mind the suit, it's just a necessary getup. Really, Augustine, you ought to leave this sort of thing to people like myself. Why, I'd like to know, is Garchomp out here perfectly exposed? Careful, now, I'd hate to h ave to lecture you, of all people, on the basics of caring for pokemon. Put her back in the ball, now, this is no place or time for either of you."
no subject
Yet, as Ted forcefully escorts him away from danger as his Garchomp follows, he begins to wonder why does he have to return her back to her Poke Ball. He knows that leaving her out will protect him from any danger. But for some reason, he doesn't feel any reason why he needs to return her.]
Why do I need to do that? She can take care of herself.
[Hearing those words coming out of her trainer is now making the Mach Pokemon more worried about his personality change.]
no subject
"It seems so; now it's you whose care concerns her. You're aware, I hope, that so much as touching those things practically spells one's doom? She can't breathe draconic fire forever, you know. Are you feeling all right? What you're saying rings discordant."
no subject
However, for the Dragon/Ground-type Pokemon, she is worried about being touched by the spirits as well. If it wasn't for Sycamore's actions though, she would have the same fate as him right now.]
To be honest, I can't feel anything.
[He then stares at his wounded hand that is still covered in blood.]
Even I can't feel the aching pain of my own hand.
no subject
"Hah, but you know it aches? Well, suppose a professor would know a little physics."
[And then it clicks.]
"Wait, Sycamore, they got you? Damn! Er, I mean, rats! Well, I'm glad you've still got your life about you! Some aren't so lucky. In that case, we ought to get you to the safe house straightway. Once things have calmed down we can decide what to do with you; The Bay, or, perhaps, finding someone you're close to. Have you got anyone like that?"
[They had spent a lot of time talking and pokemon battling, so Ted wouldn't disqualify himself from that position, but he'd see if there were any other significant others in his life.]
no subject
As for someone close to him, he did remember someone he met after his arrival in Genessia, but...]
There is Sonico, but I don't know where she is right now.
[There's also the fact that they seem to rarely meet each other due to their busy schedules conflicting each other.]
And what does the Bay and the people I know has anything to do with me?
no subject
"Hopefully in a safehouse of her own. She was at the awards ceremony, and I think she made it out all right. You should follow that hypothetical example."
[He went to address Garchomp next.]
"Garchomp, I'm afraid your master has an ailment. The things he says and does will be unlike what you've known; don't mind it too much. It's imperative we get him to safety until this whole thing blows over, all right?"
[And now to the strange victim in question]
"Well, you shouldn't stay like that forever. Those two methods can provide the cure for your condition. The Bay water will, I think, be the surest thing, but it will leave us both a little exhausted. I've...you know, people to defend, so I can't quite manage it just now. But I promise, if you need it when this all blows over, I'll be happy to bear your burden."
[Ted prays he's not being selfish in not immediately seeing to Sycamore's recovery. It's timing--yes, just a matter of timing. Surely.]
"Heh, I mean, wouldn't want you to be restored and then diminished again, eh? Far better to recover in peacetime. Now, be a good soul-sucked Sycamore and behave in the safehouse. You're making Garchomp worry. Isn't that right, Garchomp?"
no subject
As for his Garchomp, she is surprised at Ted's explanation regarding her trainer's odd, but dangerous behavior after being touched by those spirits. Yet once she also heard a way to restore his emotions, she is relieved that it's not terminal or permanent.
But while the Mach Pokemon agreed regarding her worries about the Pokemon Professor, she is a little offended on how Ted called him "soul-sucked". Sure, he may try to lighten up the mood, but to her, it might be crossing the line. Then again, she doesn't have time to argue about it as they still need to escort Sycamore to the nearest safehouse.]
You may have a point. Besides, standing around and hurting others won't able to let me find my emotions very easily.
[Unfortunately as he mentions this, he quickly falls to his knees to the ground as he pants very slowly.]
I-I'm tired. I don't know why, but I'm somehow exhausted.
[Guess that's the only thing he felt right now.
But unknown to him, his exhaustion actually come from his bloodied hand, which remains untreated after Garchomp and Ildiko tried to confine him in a car.]
no subject
"Well, of course I do! This isn't my first time dealing with these wretches. Why, last time a dear friend of mine suffered the same fate. So far you're doing far better than he, so count your...Sycamore?"
[And he's just now noticing the laceration Sycamore had, and sees the blood trail he was leaving. Oops! Ted's not the most observant fellow, but he does know his First Aid. In an instant he has out the usual: disinfectant, dressing, and so on.]
"Sorry! I should've paid more attention when you mentioned your hand. This will sting."
[Spritz. The Nova City stuff they had was fast-acting and extremely potent. After that, he cleans and wraps the wound. Heck, he'll even let out Vileplume to use Aromatherapy just for good measure. Mind the spores. It doesn't take very long, owing to Ted's super-speed while he's wearing the costume, but he instructs Garchomp to stand guard anyway.]
"That should tide you over until you see a proper doctor. Still, you don't look much for walking. Shall I carry you? Please say 'yes' or I'll be forced to use more expedient means. I worry we'll earn the spirits' ire if we're too idle."
no subject
While having no emotions may be dangerous for him, it does allow him to withstand the sting without feeling any pain. However, that doesn't mean he can feel exhaustion due to the amount of blood he just lost.]
Do whatever you can do as... As long as I survive this night.
[Unfortunately, their little chat did earn them the spirits' ire as 3 of them appear from the sky, about to attack the two residents and the Mach Pokemon. Of course, not wanting to hurt her trainer again, Garchomp angrily fires a Dragon Pulse to one of the attacking specters.]
no subject
[Garchomp's breath beam, fortunately, alerted him to their presence far faster than Ted would've known on his own. Looks like Sycamore's peril came faster than he thought. He gasps a quick apology, then tries to wrap Sycamore in his life fibers, absorbing him into a personal, endless void of pitch black. He's in no danger, but it is very dark and their isn't much to do. He spares a thought to fashion a guest room in said void so the people he rescues have something to do.
He knows Garchomp won't appreciate seeing her trainer absorbed into Ted, but there's not enough time for much of an explanation.]
"He's safe, don't you worry! Just don't let those things touch you; especially not me!"
[But hey, Garchomp's not the only creature in town with mach speed. He sees one of those inky, writhing spirits wheel in the air, descending on their position. So he shoots four tendrils of thread past the creature, before filling in the space between them as the threads expand. Once he's secured the perimeter of the creature mid-flight, he snaps the threads closed, surrounding and absorbing the creature much like how he absorbed Sycamore. It would find itself in a very far away space in the same void, however. A makeshift prison where they'd be well out of sight and mind.
So Ted's bagged one spirit and Garchomp's blasted another. That left one remaining to try and tackle Ted and eat those delicious emotions of his. His goku uniform is no slouch; he jumps high and away as it dives to attack, leaving a large gap between them. Thinking ahead for once, he leaves a few threads buried underground for a followup attack. Sorry, Garchomp, he'd stand and fight with you if he could, but he's got the professor in tow now. If he gets touched, they're both goners.]
no subject
But once she sees the last spirit about to attack Ted along with some more of them coming their way, Garchomp knows that enough is enough. With that, she quickly fires a purple beam from her mouth to the spirits, which eliminates most of them in the process. In fact, even if some more spirits might try to charge into the duo, they will end up in her powerful Hyper Beam.
Once that's done, Garchomp nods her head, signaling him that the coast is clear and they may now able to head over to the safehouse.]
no subject
"Keep up, Garchomp; or would you like to share a room with him?"
[It was said more as an offer than a threat. He was just as concerned for Garchomp's safety as Sycamore's, and could protect her just as ably if she too were inside. Either way, he makes it to the safehouse in a minute, spilling out Sycamore from the dark threads.]
"We've arrived, and not a second too soon. Garchomp, there needs be some role reversal. You've to look after your trainer now, all right? Keep an eye on him, serve as a makeshift conscience. That sort of thing. His safety is in your...hands? Claws? Fins? Your appendages, at any rate. Just be patient and wait for normalcy to return. Until then, go under the Mercy."
[He'd give a comforting pat on the head, then rush back outside, seeing just how long he could keep up these half-baked heroics.]
no subject
Once they arrived at their destination, she can see Ted releasing Professor Sycamore from his confinement, who is now unconscious from losing some amount of blood from his wound. But despite this, she is relieved that he's safe for now.
Regardless, she bowed her head to Ted as a way to give him thanks before she carries her trainer in the safehouse to rest and figure out how to heal him from his emotionless condition.]
