[ There were a lot of things Joan had been through. The earth shaking while she was in the middle of trying to convince the captain of the GCPD to let her consult with demonstrations? Not one of them, but not particularly disconcerting. Earthquakes were a thing. They weren't common where she was from, but they weren't unheard of. It was when the spirits came through, shattering any of the non-visual information that she'd gotten about them into a thousand non-experiential pieces, that was the kind of moment that had her jaw dropping.
Joan wasn't an officer of the law. She didn't even own a gun and she wasn't sure how a telescopic baton was going to do against these things, but she also wasn't going to leave anyone in the building. The officers were firing at the spirits and she was heading off to check the other areas of the department- interview rooms, file rooms, evidence rooms to make sure that no one had gotten stuck beneath something when the earthquake hit, and that there weren't any of those spirit things. She wasn't sure what she was going to do if she ran into one besides wack and distract, but she wasn't going to leave anyone behind. ]
Hello, is anyone in here?!
[ She could do what she could while staying out of the way of gunfire and hopefully spirits. Then safe houses, ASAP. ]

[ The drunk tank. Joan moves closer, but doesn't grab his arm. ]
It's dangerous here, we have to go.

[ Rick's found the batch of files on people who really love them some illegal damn weapons, and he's glancing at each name and contact information in rapid succession.
He's totally gonna scalp Black Hat's potential pool of steady clients in the main city.
This is gonna be great. ]

[ You think she doesn't know he's not supposed to be in those? Joan moves closer and snatches them from his hand, then puts them back in the cabinet and closes it, giving him a stern look. ]
I don't know what you're doing, but no one uses a disaster to read police files unless they really shouldn't be. We're going.

[ Rick reaches into his lab coat and produces his flask, uncapping it and taking a swig. ]
Second of a-[ braaap ] all, going where?
[ Don't try to take that flask, Joan, there will be a slap-fight. ]

Stay close.
[ She's not answering exactly where yet. She'll check the network for safe areas as soon as they're in a more-safe area than this. She crouches down and heads back toward the door, peeking it open just enough. There's a spirit like riiiight there, so she closes it, then gets her baton out of her bag and jerks it so it extends fully. She looks back at him. ]
Can you run in a straight line?
[ It's very important, because she's gonna do something that's going to require them both to beeline out of there for them to escape. ]

He closes the drawer back up with a satisfied wham-click right as Joan's grabbing her baton. ]
Why? I don't know what you thi-think is going on here, lady, but I am not playing fetch w-with that sti[ braaaap ] stick of yours.

[ Complete with jazz-hands before he reaches into his coat again, this time for a different pocket altogether. As he does so, he's walking -- yeah, walking, not crouching and creeping -- toward her and the door. ]
P-put the stick away, I got this.

Could use a hand actually!

Coming!
[ Once she gets this file cabinet out of the doorway, anyway. It takes a bit of pushing, but she manages to clear the doorway, looking for the source of the voice as she does. She'll ask before she even sees her though. ]
Are you okay?

Over here, behind the file cabinet! I'm in the pencil skirt.
