004 :: Action [During the Event]
Who: Belle & OPEN
What: A sticky situation with shadows.
When: BELATED EVENT POST
Where: Genessia/Everglade
Warning: None yet.
Belle wasn’t a fighter but she also wasn’t the sort of person who could sit and do nothing while people got hurt. She’d been heading to work when she saw the spirits break and swarm through the cities. She had nothing she could use to fight except a nearby fallen tree branch. She dove for it when the spirits approached, swinging it to keep the dark figures away from.
It did nothing to them but they paused and she used that time to run.
Breath exhaled I heavy puffs as she made her way down the streets. She fumbled with her phone seeing the message that indicated where the safe houses were. She didn’t want to go there, she wanted to help, but all thoughts slipped from her mind as one of the shadows loomed above her. Belle stumbled backwards, falling hard on the ground beneath her with a solid thud.
She was too breathless to scream.

"COME GET ME!"
Ten yells at the spirits.

"Wait." She scrambled to her feet, grabbing the tree branch at her side and swinging it at the spirits back.
It didn’t do anything though Belle looked determined to help now that she was back on her feet.

On one of his looking back notices that the girl is still following behind, "IT'S ALRIGHT! I GOT IT!"

Belle didn't feel right having the man face the shadows on his own. Even so, he appeared to know what he was doing.
She continued to run after him, her feet taking her as fast as her boots would let her as she followed the pair. She was careful, she didn't let herself get to close to the shadow but she kept her eyes out for something that might stop the creature from chasing her savior.

Then waits for the very last split second and falls backward, into the Bay with a splash and the spirits foolishly follow - as there are lights some unearthly screaming from below; as the spirit(s) meet their demise. Moments later, Ten pops his head up but isn't gasping for breath, and swims over and pulls himself up and is dripping wet from head to toe and breathing heavily as his sonic is being clutched in one of his hands. There is still some tax - feeling of his energy being drained but he'll manage as there's a small shiver from having done this quite a bit.

He was soaked and despite the rising heat of the city, he didn’t look like he was having a good time of this. She remembered that water being very cold.
"You should dry off." Her voice was soft and sweet, the panic faded as the setting calmed. She doubted that it was the last of those shadows but for now, they were safe. "My home is near here. Please let me at least dry off my rescuer."
She wondered if it was safe to leave the bay though the notion was an afterthought and one that Belle didn’t spent a lot of time on.

The Doctor eyes up at Bell silently and seems to be debating the offer; well it's not like he can leave right now. Then gives a slight head nod and pushes himself onto his feet - and a little wobbly at that.
He is glad she's alright at least, "Why are you not in any of the safe houses?"

"I was working when everything started. I hadn't seen the announcements until it was a little late but I wanted to return home first." She wanted to help, except that there wasn't very much that she could do.

Belle paused when they reached her place and she pushed it open, ushering the man inside. Inside was clear and clean though it appeared to be a simple apartment. There were flowers on the table and Belle was quick to grab him a towel.
"I'm Belle." She spoke softly before grabbing a pot of dirt that was sitting near the windowsill. "This is what I returned here for. One day it'll be a rose."
no subject
Then continues on and pauses in the most dreadful way - whatever happiness that was there is gone and his aura seems to have left the room. He can't debate that - a Rose is worth going back for - if you could.
Silently just going to dry underneath his arms with his coat and suitcoat on.

Ambulance sirens and lights.
You know what semi corporeal ghosts might not like though?
Getting hit by an ambulance.
Yeah you have to be pretty precise with everything if you're waving around a sword but if you just hit... you know, everything... that should do it right?
Had the driver been human, this would have been a far more dangerous trick to do. Thankfully, there's no clumsy human behind the wheel of this.
Half a second of contact wouldn't do that much emotional damage, right?
SORRY, BELLE.

She covered her head with her arms and heard the car as it hit the shadow hovering near her. It was only when she was sure that it was safe that she peeked above the curve of her arm.
Belle didn’t see the spirit but she didn’t think they were gone. She grabbed the stick and ran over to the car, surprised when she didn’t see anyone in the driver’s seat. From what little she knew about cars someone needed to drive it. Like a carriage.
"Hello? Are you okay?" She called out but she didn’t know who she was talking too.

He is, however, used to this reaction. No, no one is in there, but a voice does call out-
"Get in, they won't stay dispersed for long."
He'd know, he's been crashing through them for the better part of the afternoon.
no subject
"Where are we going?"
Her voice was high and frantic despite her attempt to stay calm. Belle wasn't familiar with these situations and she wasn't sure what to do.

He was immediately glade he decided to come. The spirits weren't as thick here as they were in Genessia, his adopted home, but for those without defenses, well...
He raised his staff as he ran in Belle's direction, without much thought, putting himself between her and the attacking spirits. He slid to a stop in the moist earth, his soft leather boots nearly slipping from beneath him, but he righted himself as he thrust energy into an arc of power around them, a shield against which the attacking spirits crash and rebounding, sending out sparks of green fire when the contacted the shimmering green dome. Holding the staff aloft to continue channeling the spell, the looked to Belle.
"I quite agree. A spiritual invasion is the perfect time for an evening stroll." Not lowering the barrier, the raised his free hand, the left, and a roiling ball of fire rose in the palm of his hand, growing white hot in seconds. In an expert maneuver, he lowered the shield and hurled the fireball at the recoiling spirits. It exploded on contact and they screamed before fleeing to easier targets.
It was then that the fatigue in Dorian's shoulders became more apparent as he lowered the staff to the ground, leaning on it for support. His white robes were soiled, she might notice, and beads of sweat dotted his brow.
"I do hope you enjoyed it. Everglade is always a fine jaunt."
no subject
"Dorian." Belle stepped up to him when she was sure that the spirit was gone. Her eyes quickly cased him, noticing the dirt on his robes and the tired look in his expression. "And you're pushing yourself to much." She countered stubbornly.
"You look like you haven't slept."
She was used to that same look with her father on those nights when he had find himself incapable of sleeping.

"I can assure you I'm quite well, Belle. Just a bit exhausted." And while that statement may seem a little shocking to some, he says it as though he's commenting on the weather.
"Now, what is it you're doing out here?"
no subject
"Please let me help. You can't keep going like this."
She's seen her father over work himself and since meeting Dorian she's seen him over work himself and yet she's never seen him looking as tired and worn down as he did now.

"How about this? I'll run to the nearest safe house but only if you come with me and rest for a bit." Only then she'd let him go and she'd stay behind and stay safe.
no subject
"Will it keep you safe?"
no subject
"It should." She replied back in an even tone. Belle didn't know what these safe houses were but many people had said that they were shielded from the creatures that flooded through the city.
no subject
"Fine. Follow me."
no subject
Belle never intended to be a push over. No matter what the situation.
She did as he requested and turned to follow him through the city. She had her stick though she doubted it'd do much compared to Dorian's magic. Her eyes stayed on Dorian, only occasionally flicking around them. She was very worried about her friend.
