[Qubine lets out a sigh with mixed emotions as he acknowledges the poll results. Somehow, the results are about what he expected, as far as him not winning are concerned. A part of him is disappointed, and yet he can't help the sense of relief either. Some of the questions presented during the debate had scared him more than he'd like to admit. He'd better do more research, or better yet, gain more experience.]
So that's it. The election has been decided. I've lost, and rightfully so. Becoming a Guardian is far different from being the leader I was in my own world. I only became the leader by fate…or circumstance. Whichever you want to call it.
I ran for Guardianship because I wanted to fulfill the leader's instinct within me that awakened when the plague struck my former clan. I didn't want to lay around and do nothing in this world. It's a strange feeling to do nothing…but then, when you spend your life fighting just to live another day, you tend to forget what it's like to live in peace.
I have to admit, some of the questions during the debate, as well as some of the advice I received during the campaign period, had made me reconsider some things…and only made it painfully obvious that I simply do not know enough about this world to be an effective Guardian.
Perhaps I'll try again in the next election…but until then... [Another pause before he simply shrugs.] We'll see what happens.

[He ponders for a moment.]
Even now, I'm not sure what to do...
[And that probably would have been the case even if he had been elected.]
[ video ]
And you can always contact me or inform the new Guardian if you need support with handling a difficult situation.
[ video ]
All right... So what can you do? Are you a fighter or a mage?
[ video ]
I specialize in illusion magic. But I can perform protection or offense and defense magic.
[ video ]
I see...
[Illusion magic is new to him. No one knew it in his clan, but it sounds like something the Shadow flight would do.]
At least you have your guild to lead.
[ video ]
[Mavis studies Qubine for a moment.] You miss yours, don't you?
[ video ]
[He pauses, thinking of all the things he'd like to do back home.]
[ video ]
Tell me about your clan.
[ video ]
Hmm...I was hatched in the Southern Icefield in Sornieth. Shortly after I matured, I moved to the Viridian Labyrinth, where I joined a clan led by Usha and Grim, which is now known as the Filia Clan. I trained with them in order to become stronger so we could defend the clan. Things were generally peaceful at the time. The three of us used to dress up for the elemental holidays every month.
And then suddenly, the clan was struck with a plague that left half of them dead and the other half incapacitated. I was the only one who was unaffected. The only way to combat the plague and save my clan was to raise an entirely new clan. The Gladekeeper granted me a single egg to begin the task, and that hatchling I named Coco. I scavenged all across Sornieth to find other abandoned dragon eggs to take in, and had them breed when they were able. I also had them begin training in the field, to strengthen themselves, hoping to keep them from getting infected as well. It took over a year, but we finally succeeded in curing the plague, thanks to Orphne, the Imperial dragon who chose to focus her studies on medicine. Grim and Usha, and the rest of the clan recovered, and I attempted to let them resume their leadership, but they insisted that I keep the clan I had raised as my own. Thus my clan was named the Kalma Clan. Several dragons from the Filia Clan considered themselves part of the Kalma now, including my mate Shayla, Sabori, and Azalea. Now my clan is considered the defenders, fighting off the Beastclans and other threats.
[ video ]
While Qubine was telling this story, she tried to remember all the names but one towards the end caught her attention.]
Azalea?
[Could she have been the same Azalea she'd met here during the unfortunate episode with the Hands of Decay?
When the dragon was done, she smiled.]
I don't know who the beastclans are but... it seems to me that you would have had more than enough heart and skills to make a good Guardian. You dealt with a large scale plague. This clan you raised all by yourself has become respected and powerful. Other clans trust you to protect them.
That's... pretty impressive!
[ video ]
[He sees that recognition in her expression.]
Azalea...yes. I've heard that she was here previously, but she's been sent back. Now it's just myself and Liora.
[ video ]
She's from your world? And Liora too?
[ video ]
I know. That's why I've had my clan train themselves. And a good number of them still died...
[He nods.]
Yes...they're both part of my clan. Azalea was one of the few survivors...one of the few who has fully completed their Passage. Liora is one of the newer members of my clan. She has yet to discover her potential...
[He trails off, as if it were a hint that there was more to Liora than the average dragon...]
[ video ]
[As he starts talking about Liora and her potential, the blond girl perks up.] Liora told me about that. I told her I'd like to help her with her if I can.
[ video ]
Hmm. From what I've observed on the network, she is struggling to control her element. Unfortunately it's not something I can help her with. So if there's any way you can help her, it would be appreciated.
[ video ]
Have you ever tried telling her how you managed to control your element? That could help her.
[ video ]
[ video ]
[ video ]
If only she would allow it...
Re: [ video ]
Now that's surprising...
[ video ]
[She's probably going to ask what happened, so he'll give a little intro, in case she's already heard it.]
...Has she told you about a dragon named Erebus?
[ video ]
[ video ]
[Qubine looks down for a moment before looking back up.]
I haven't met him personally, so I don't know much about him. All I do know is what Liora told us. He's a Nocturne dragon from the Shadow flight, with a mission to shroud the entire world in darkness. He's...apparently powerful, as we were told that even the stronger dragons of our clan had trouble fighting him. They said that Erebus had been watching Liora for some time, even before she met him for the first time. The reason is unknown...but he seems to know about her potential. Whether he sees her as a threat to his ambitions, or if it's an admiration, I can't say. It may even be both.
Just before my arrival here, Erebus attacked our lair. He raised the dead dragons of our clan to attack, and they spit out a black sludge that formed even more black monsters. I told Usha and Grim to get the Filia Clan to safety, and I told Amadeus and Malus to have the Kalma Clan rendezvous at the Windswept Plateau. However...things were so chaotic that I doubt the two were able to reach the others. So whether they fled, or were killed in the attack, I have no way of knowing. But I won't presume them dead until I find their bodies. I focused my efforts on protecting Shayla from those soulless bodies of the fallen. We had already lost our sons, so I couldn't bear to lose her as well. I ordered her to flee, but as she did so, I spotted a Shadow-based magic attack being fired at her. I chased after her, taking the hit in her stead. We crashed into the water, and I woke up at the Bay.
Liora blames herself for all of this because Erebus was after her, and she didn't stop him before he started this mess. During the chaos, I told her that no one would blame her, but she can't seem to overcome her guilt...

Really?
[He's surprised to hear...just about all of it, really. The lack of energy is surprising...but then not necessarily untrue at the moment. He'd just have to find his energy. However, the last part wasn't so surprising.]
Ah, right. You had this perception that all dragons were evil, didn't you?
[He gets that all too often.]
Re: [Video]
[If only Qubine were the jesting kind]
Yes, really!
Hah, 'had'? Still do; everyone is, I presume, evil. Dragons, however, on Earth, were evil through and through; hence all our knights had the business of slaying them. Perhaps, in some far-flung cavern, there might be a remnant that weren't quite so serpentine. The East might've known them. The West had to endure less likable lizards. Thus came the ouroboros, that ghastly symbol.
I'm curious...what kind of "fine principles" would a villainous beast like me have?
Re: [Video]
Oh, I much admire your respect for the sanctity of the dead; corpses in particular. It speaks to a distancing away from utilitarianism, which is a precious rarity.
You wouldn't like me if I did have to hunt you down.
[if that's what he calls this...whatever it is Barty has with Qubine]
[Srsly, you wouldn't want to make an enemy of him. But he certainly hasn't thought of this oddly sharp-toothed human as a friend either...]
[oddly fangy human is just weird that way. Let's face it he's weird in a lot of ways. It's also sarcasm on some level.]
Maybe someday we'll really go at it and see who comes out on top. But we fought side by side so whatever happens, I got your back, jack.
[He ought to be used to pirates, considering he has one in his clan, but somehow this guy manages to be more annoying.]
That would be interesting... Back home, I'm fully trained, but there's always room for improvement.
Oh yeah? All right, we should totally do it, then. Keep us both on our toes, eh? Unless you want me following you around protecting you with my barrier all the time. [tease tease tease]
[He almost sounds insulted. Hell, it was humiliating needing this guy to protect him from the spirits in the first place. But let's face it, shit was real.]
Good! Glad to hear it. That's more like it.
