A pair of green eyes snapped open as the pod ripped open by a pulse of force. Haruna's head shifted side to side as her mind raced. There was no way that she was able to be underground. The topography of Yokosuka Harbor had nothing that matched this type of structure. Even if she was flung by the failure of the Super-Graviton Cannon she would have landed on the surface or penetrated the surface showing some degree of damage to where she was.
One quick scan later and Haruna had ruled out the possibility that the cocoon that she destroyed was an ablative armor she created before impact. Nothing here made sense. This was an unexpected feeling.
Another check of her body revealed that she had failed.
Kirishima was gone. Regret. Had her Union Core slipped between her fingers? She felt it so close but then it was gone. Perhaps Kirishima was on the ocean floor, at least then one of the submarines could recover her core. This feeling that she felt just then must have been relief and perhaps hope.
Such interesting words with multiple meanings. At least she had more contexts for those words.
Those eyes seemed to change and become a bit odd taking on a degree of an internal glow and the iris shifted slightly. A set of glowing yellow wave markings formed on her cheeks under her eyes, as she seemed to focus.
"Unable to access Joint Tactical Network," she said as her eyes went wide. This was supposed to be impossible with her current condition. The markings vanished as swiftly as they appeared, eyes becoming normal. She seemed to sink into her already oversized coat slightly.
She stood there in silence for a few moments before she began to move again. No damage. Nothing wrong with her core. It was as if she was alone, completely cut off from the others. There was only one thing to do, her eyes focused as she looked out into the foggy darkness.
Measured strides through the shallow water, that seemed to flow around her outfit without getting it wet. Her foot hit an object that was submerged and she crouched to pick it up holding the box in her coat-covered hands It looked to be able to be opened. But this object wasn't made of nanomaterial, and Human objects may react poorly to water and thus Haruna decided to open it once she was in an area where the threat of unsecured objects dropping into the waters was reduced.
From water to sand, to something more solid the girl still looked immaculate even though her coat all but dragged to the ground. There was some sort of booth set up ahead. It was strange. With this setup it was as if Haruna was not the first one to be into this situation. Very odd. If this was set up by humans then the question was, did they not know what she was?
Haruna at least could use the booth to place the box on when she opened it. With the sudden activation of the hologram Haruna froze, snapping her gaze towards this woman. As the speech went on the blonde's face hardened into a frown, Kidnapped? Being taken to another world? It was possible that the catastrophic failure of the graviton cannon could have resulting in one going to another world? Would she have known what type of result was happening in those moments of chaos? Too many unknowns, too many variables.
But at least there seemed to be some getting answers. Useful. A number of locations were of interest but at least she had a map now. While it wasn't as useful as getting an overall reference compared to high quality satellite imagery but it would have to do. Places of notes were memorized and while cross-referencing with the other papers around.
With that done she opened up the box. Red currency, A key for something which was tied to another location on the map. The pendant just was held in hand, slowly the gem twisted in air as she held it. Why would the marking and designation be this. Would it be needed to be easily visible? Or could she just hold onto it. Whatever the case she wore it, it seeming to vanish under the tall collar of her great coat.
But what was most interesting was the phone, while the instructions were simple, Haruna held it in hand before her eyes looked to be odd once more and on the screen of the phone a the word 'cracking' above a solid downwards facing triangle appeared. Emblazoned in the was an odd icon, a dot with a ring around it, an point coming off the top with a bar dropping downwards with an upward flaring 'wing' off each, floating nearby was a pair oo curving arcs which ended in sharp points.
A few moments later and Haruna looked once again normal. "Interesting..." she said to herself as she paused for a moment, eyes shifting as she accessed the networks. "Connection Established"
She had acquired full control of the system and after few moments, she shut it down. Looking around in the fog she quickly unzipped her coat and opened it up slightly to hint that she was wearing a dress under her oversized coat before she slipped the phone into a pocket that wasn't there beforehand.
The phone stowed and Haruna's jacket was swiftly zipped, her face partially hidden once more. At this point, she decided to wander in the dark, just another figure in the fog...

[Action]
And the rivers with the ocean;
The winds of heaven mix forever
With a sweet emotion;
Nothing in the world is single;
All things by a law divine
In another's being mingle--
Why not I with thine?"
[A colorfully dressed man idly quoted romantic poetry to no one in particular while out on a daily stroll. It's a good thing Haruna wears such a big, obvious coat, else he would've collided.
Haha jk he bumps into her anyway. He makes a fast recovery.]
"Oh! Sorry, miss. That's an...interesting coat you're wearing."
[He thinks it must be miserable in the summer.]
"Heh, don't believe we've met. Did you just arrive? I'm Ted. And you are...?"
Re: [Action]
The human bumped into her, not enough force to justify doing anything other than taking the impact and not even wobbling in the slightest. Were all humans on in this place like this? Or was this one an oddity.
At least he complimented her coat. It was indeed a nice coat. "Thank you," Haruna said as her eyes never left the man, it was nothing personal, but she was rather focused upon him. If she was uncomfortable with the heat with how large her coat was, she wasn't showing it at all.
"Haruna. Why were talking in that manner before you collided with me?" the blonde girl asked as she seemed to be almost too calm at this, her long sleeves shifting slightly in the slight breeze.
Re: [Action]
"A curious name; what does it mean?"
[Behold: his all-consuming interest in onomastics]
"Hah, oh that? Well, I happen to believe poetry was meant to be recited. Pffha, sorry about the collision. I'm glad you're so sturdy, both in composure and temperature. And a black coat, at that! The heat must bother you not at all."
Re: [Action]
But once Ted mentioned what he was doing Haruna piped up, "Poetry. A type of literature that is to be spoken. Tagged. Categorized. Recorded."
Her gaze had locked onto him as if staring at him less as a person but an object to be studied. Haruna's gaze shifted slightly after she finished her data gathering of the word she collected, mouth movements recorded along with proper intonation, efficient as always.
"The local temperature is considered hot?" She asked, as she wasn't quite sure what norms were for this locations climate. But sturdy? Yes she was very much that even with her body having been sunk.
It must be rather obvious that she's a newcomer from some other world, but maybe she was humanish at least.
Re: [Action]
[He says, getting another look at her broad appearance. He gives further amused looks as she speaks to him with chilly efficiency.
"Heh, well it's probably best read first. Say, are you human?"
[Not one to miss obvious inquiries.]
Re: [Action]
Why she was 'mountainy' was confusing. She didn't fit that sort of description at all. Very odd. Perhaps this human was strange. Interesting.
But the question of her being human was brought up a moment of panic ran through her, thankfully her coat's partial hiding of her face was useful to hide that. Thousands of outcomes ran through her mind and the ones that that had the best outcomes seemed to point in one direction. Deception.
"I am most definitely human," Haruna answered rather bluntly, while seeming to shrink down a little bit in her coat.
For someone like her she was one who never really lied. The closest she may have gotten to was omitting information. Why would she lie? There was no reason to do so with any of the members of the Fleet.
Re: [Action]
"Hahaha! 'Distinguished hazelnut'! God bless the Japanese and their Kanji. What a delightful name! Can I call you that, in addition to 'Haruna'? 'Ms. Hazelnut.' No, Ms. Distinguished Hazelnut. Oh, that's priceless! I can see the reason of it clearly. Definitely something nutty about you, hahaha!"
[It's funny, is what he's trying to get across.]
"Do you know much Kanji? So many of your countrymen find their way here, and it's hard to make heads or tails of some of their names. I'd love to keep you on retainer if so.
Well, you most definitely distinguished hazelnut of a human, how are you settling in? Are you as impervious to trouble as the weather?"
Re: [Action]
This was completely unexpected. The psychological simulation she was running she couldn't figure out exactly what to expect this human. Would I-401's Human Interaction program have worked better? Of course, with no connection to the network she couldn't download it even if she wanted.
At least the next question was normal. "Yes I know the full Kanji alphabet."
Still it seemed that the human believed that she was human and also Japanese. Maybe she was experiencing good luck, although without knowing the variables any attempt to determine the odds would be foolish to make such a determination
But the fact that this strange person was convinced that she was human was a good thing.
"I would not view it as useful. Learning the character set will be more beneficial for you than relying on me to be your translator," She answered before considering the other question. "I am still new here. Would encountering you be considered trouble?"
As far as things for the last day went this may have been one of the less troublesome things she had.
Re: [Action]
[She'll always be D.Hazelnut to him.]
"That's wonderful! And all the ways the characters combine, too? That's the tricky part. I know from experience how the parts make utterly different wholes. Say, maybe we could find you a job at the Academy. I'm sure Star would be interested in a kanji teacher. A true woman of the rising sun, through and through."
[Is Ted trouble? Survey says...]
"Ah, me. Goodness. That's a hard question to answer; I doubt I could, you know, objectively. Well, even if I was I'm sure your unflappability would see you through all of it. But is there anything you need seen through? You seem like the kind of woman who comfortably weathers anything, if that coat's any indication."
Re: [Action]
A job offer? This seems rather sudden.
"I will have to decline at this point. I need to better understand my surroundings before I make such a decision," was the reply. Not a yes but not a firm no at least.
He dodged the question about trouble, and it seemed to be a definite sign of deception. She stiffened under her coat.
"But for now I have nothing you can help me with," She answered, "And I can handle my own problems, this is true."
Except the ones that she hadn't begun to start figuring how to properly solve some of the problems that arriving Genessia had lead to. And one very noticeable problem that happened just before she arrived
Re: [Action]
[He'll snap out of it soon.]
"Ah, well if you've no need of further assistance, I'll cease arresting your adventures. We can see about those arcane symbols another time. It was nice meeting you, Desting--Haruna. Go under the Mercy!"
[Ted would wave, taking one last look at that strange coat, before merrily parting.]
Re: [Action]
A moment of confusion then realization that he was actually going to call her 'Distinguished Hazelnut' again but caught himself, thankfully her coat once more hid her face as her expression shifted for a moment.
"Farewell" was her only reply as she saw him turn to leave. Perhaps she'll explore this apartment that apparently was hers.
She knew the path and started off, soon vanishing into the fog once more
