[ The video is taken from inside what appears to be a costume shop. It's a rather drab shop compared to her normal masks, but you have to start somewhere. 5000 red bills is not enough to afford her usual ostentatious masks of gold. She's holding a mask to her face, her lips drawn downward in a frown just beneath the rhinestone teeth. ]
Too on the nose.
[ She turns around, her device clearly propped up on a shelf of some kind, perfectly and elaborately coiffed hair and a the back of a gorgeous long sleeved, royal blue dress. She turns around again after a moment, holding up another mask. ]
Would you prefer something cute and harmless, Genessia? [ She quickly lowers her face and places this one on next. ] Or do you prefer a more honest facade?

The skeletal one is rather pretty, though. It reminds me of Master.

[ Hamusuke tilts her face to the side and her whiskers twitch.]
What type of face would you prefer to wear?
no subject
[ She turns back to the differing masks, looking through them yet again. ]
I wear a different mask for every occasion.

Undead can have power, that they can.
[ Her master is a stronger version of a lich.]
Have you had a mask for being brought to a new world? Waking up in the Bay is a special occasion, that it is.
no subject
[ she picks up another mask that seems to be celebratory, putting it up in response. ]
None have treated it as a special occasion.

Is it not noteworthy to meet people from other worlds?

I take it you're a new arrival, as I've not seen you here before?

[ Her lips turn up into a smile and she picks up another mask, looking at it while she speaks. Very Venetian, but it doesn't speak to her for today. ]
I won't expect those of lands mysterious to recognize the Queen of Ev. You know now.
no subject
I hope you don't turn out to be one of those. I had fun needling the last one, but it gets old after a while.
As for me, I'm nobody important. A bounty hunter and a maker of magical trinkets.
no subject
[ She doesn't really give a rat's ass if it matters or not here. That's who he is and he has his head up his ass if he thinks telling her she doesn't matter is the right thing to do. Frankly, it's discussing behavior she no one would appreciate, being told that they don't matter just because they once did. ]
I've asked nothing for my title, yet you feel the need to tell me it is not important; that I am not important. How insecure must you be to behave threatened by the mere mention of a name, Nobody?
[ Who you self-identify as is important. That's what he chose to identify as, that's what she'll call him. ]
no subject
[He looks directly at the camera, and there is something visibly wrong with his pupils - they're cat-slitted, not round like a human's.]
All I have told you is that your title will not put food on your table, your highness, and offered for consideration a couple of the sort of jobs available here. Who is the insecure one of the two of us, I wonder? Might I remind you that I haven't yet been reduced to base namecalling.

[ Her voice remains light and airy, but she's quickly getting bored with someone so arrogant as to think he needs to tell her how it is. She's not a moron, she read everything, stoppeed by the welcome center, listened to the hologram. Slightly off pupils don't mean a thing to her besides that this man takes himself far too seriously with how frustrated he seems to be getting with her not just immediately apologizing for expecting to be called what she has her whole life- Lady Ev, then Queen Ev. ]
You identified yourself as Nobody. These are your words, not mine. If you are offended by them, describe yourself as Somebody in the future.
no subject
[This entire time, he's been keeping a normal, conversational tone. Almost bored, in fact.]
Nobody I shall remain, so long as you remain Nameless. [...yes, that is in fact what he will call her from now on.]
((OOC: Dear God, we have to get these two to meet in person someday. XD))
no subject
[ She hasn't decided if he in particular bores her yet, so she doesn't say as much. ]
I do not understand why you insist on not accepting my name for what it is. My surname is all you need; We are not friends, you do not reserve the right to call me by my forename. I am Queen Ev. My family runs the kingdom named for us. Are you too dumb for such a simple concept?
[ ooc: Sure, eventually! She's gotta stock up on masks before she goes meeting anyone tho. :D ]
no subject
I suppose I owe you part of my name, as well. My surname is Cruz. As to friendship - you may wish to consider making a few, here. The odds are strongly in favor of you being here a while. We've neither of us been the most civil to one another, thus far, but it need not remain so. That choice I leave up to you, Lady Ev.
no subject
[ The last thing she remembers is a very good reason not to make friends. It's the first time there's been some emotion in her voice as she admits that. The strong, unwavering tone had something underneath it beyond curiosity or boredom for the first time. It only lasts for a moment though. ] I would avoid the same mistake on a second chance.
Queen Ev. I have more than earned the title and died resisting a tyrant's attempt to take our kingdom; you will treat me at least with the respect I deserve or I will not waste my time with you.
no subject
Yeah, I can see how that would turn you off the concept. Still, not everyone's a power hungry bastard around here. Some of us are even kind of nice. The choice of whether to pursue friendship for its own sake or any other is one only you can make, Queen Ev.
Video
*There's a small amused smile on this skeleton's face. Of course he'd choose the first one - that's vanity for you*
Re: Video
How do you speak without vocal chords?
[ For the first time, she's reconsidering the skull mask and puts it back upon her face. Everyone else's reasons were stupid, a fellow freak is not. ]
Video
*He says this with great joviality as though he's just told a joke and this is all very amusing*
How do I have feelings with no organs or central nervous system?
*Again, is this a joke? Jack certainly seems amused!*
video;
[She likes a person that honest...Honest about not nice things rather than the happy things.]
Re: video;
[ So much for her being the one who is supposed to have the big head. ]
You're the first to choose honesty. Why?
video;
[She shrugs slightly.]
Because why do what everyone else wants one too? I do what I want without a care for what others say and just tell them what I think. [Not in a nice way, but still.]
video;
[ Langwidere is smart and very much not the type to do as others want. Her question wasn't because she wanted to adhere to the people, but... ]
It is better to know the people of a foreign world with a simple question than wander aimlessly with nothing but dry facts.
video;
[She still doesn't care for people.]
But sadly it means actually interacting with people even if only once. Sometimes it's just easier to learn about someone from watching the feeds this device does.

A facade isn't a facade if it's honest. How can a mask really be a mask if it isn't hiding something? You wouldn't need it otherwise. Was that a purposeful contradiction to see how many people would notice?
no subject
[ But he's wrong about one thing. ]
I wear a mask every day of my life, but I am not one to lie or hide. Would you consider this a contradiction?
[Here's a dragon who is also wearing a mask.]
[ And she clearly has no intention of doing such. It's none of his business. ]
[Then why is she willing to ask a question if she won't answer one?]
So why should we answer yours then?
No one, really. I was merely curious. I could provide an insightful answer, but...
[He trails off with a shrug.]
Oh well.
[ Like she was actually going to take the advice of anyone on what mask she should wear. She'll wear what she likes. But it's a question designed to see what the answers were. Answers that people believe power is the most important, that they seek the familiar, that they seek something pretty but tame, that they seek to be feared. It's been more than enlightening.
This dragon doesn't trust. He believes that he deserves something in return for his presence when he has done nothing to earn it, not even answer the original question. She's gleaned more than enough from him. He may be a monster with words and a mask, but that does not make him unique. ]
[It's not like she's earned anything from him either.]
But if you insist... Wear whatever suits you. I wear this mask to reflect who I am. Whether other people like it is irrelevant.
Re: [Video]
I always intended to.
[He can respect that much, but that's about it so far.]
no subject
I think I prefer the third mask. Why would you want to look sweet when you can look fearsome instead?
no subject
Why look fearsome when fear inspires violence in others?
[ Not that she's against violence. Quite the contrary, she's rather intentionally tried to force someone into being incapable of saving their country from mass destruction out of a desire for vengeance. But her question is less about which mask she should choose and more about the people who respond. ]

[And sometimes you overestimate your means. A lesson she has learnt the hard way.]
