[As Qubine turns on the feed, he lets out what sounds like a deep, guttural sigh.]
...Under ordinary circumstances, I wouldn't take issue with predators hunting their prey. It's only natural...and necessary for one's survival. But the fact that this so-called "Apex Predator" not only hunts for sport, but had also taken out a dragon has me concerned. Its ruthlessness and cunning remind me of the Beastclans of my own world...although I have no reason to believe that they have found their way into Genessia...yet.
[He pauses for a moment. If the Beastclans did arrive, what would they do? It occurs to him that he doesn't know much about them other than their hatred towards dragonkind.]
...I would investigate this myself, but yet...we don't have enough information to work with.

Sometimes the best solution to that is simply to go forth and seek the answers yourself rather than wait for others. A creature capable of bringing down a dragon can not be left unchecked.
[Hell, it gives him a bad feeling. Cipher may not be here, but that kind of strength is enough to remind Kazuya of him. It's enough to intimidate even him.]
no subject
I would agree that a beast like this cannot be left unchecked, but I also know it's foolish to rush into a situation blindly. If I don't get killed doing so, it would certainly escalate the situation in one way or another...
[Such as when Liora and her partners went into the Ghostlight Ruins unprepared and ended up running into Erebus. Although Amadeus seems to believe that Erebus would have revealed himself regardless, seeing as he'd had an eye on Liora for some time even before then.]
If I had my clan with me, I'd hunt down this beast without a second thought. But as it stands now, it would be too dangerous for a solo mission. We'll find our answers somehow...

evildragon would start things out that way. Is it any wonder why knights treated them so? If only he could convince how fun and chivalrous dragon-slaying truly was.]That story was a little sparse on detail, wasn't it? All they really have to go on are corpses, correct? For all we know, something was being repeatedly savaged by beasts, and so it--whatever it is--defended itself. Unless you've reason to believe dragons would never attack someone so pitilessly?
[But, ya know, dragons. When aren't they assaulting people for poops and giggles?]
no subject
That's another reason why we need more information. If this beast really is just defending itself, then we'll have a better idea of what to do from there.
As for dragons, the only reason we'd have to 'attack someone pitilessly', as you say, is for sustenance. Either self-defense, or food.
[He won't deny that some dragons in general would probably eat humans, but not him...]

[Says the guy who gone into ruins that have had monsters that killed dozens of people on his own and promptly kicked the crap out of what was killing those people. Herp.]
I have had the thought of attempting to track the creature myself. Should you or someone else attempt to track it, I would gladly lend my aid.
video;
[Not that didn't stop Yukiko from considering it herself. between that and what was reported the last time she was getting very worried.]
If you want to investigate yourself, I will allow you to do so. Because it does make me worry.
video;
As for me, I've determined that it would not be a good idea for me to investigate alone. Unfortunately, we dragons are not unlimited in power, as some tales would suggest...
[Although he was stronger than those back home, Genessia is a whole different ball game. He'd have to exercise more caution than what he's used to. He sure doesn't want to join the Fallen, temporary or not.]

[Most of the time. Even in Sornieth, new places are always being discovered, as well as new beasts.]
I may well accept your aid. What sort of abilities do you have?
video;
[Even if they are mages, with the last thing that happened two weeks before this and now this...]
If you want me to come and help, I would be okay with that. I mean I want to inve3stigate myself after all.
video;
[Or perhaps more than one thing, but it's always best to steel oneself for the worst.]
Perhaps it is something we should do as a team. There is another...human...who is offering his aid as well.
[At least he's assuming that Kazuya is human...]
video;
[Which means it was a good enough reason if she was to leave her post for the time being.]

[Postjudice. He knows allll about dragons; probably more than they do! Read all the right books.]
Huh. If it's as natural and plain as you say, why worry whatsoever? It doesn't sound like it's doing anything especially egregious. Not slaying endangered species or posing a threat to civilization.

As it's stated in this "newspaper," this beast is hunting for sport rather than food, which is unnecessary. It's killing animals and dragons as a sick game and nothing more. Do you honestly find that acceptable?
no subject
[Adorable]
But how do they know that? Was this predator given an interview? Did it attack things that wouldn't hurt a fly otherwise? Do the slayings match something an expert knows of before? As I said, we can't rule out self-defense as a possible motive. [Though that might be optimism talking.]
no subject
It's obviously given them reason to believe that it's hunting for sport. That's what the initial investigation is for. Perhaps you should join them, instead of pretending that you know everything. We'll be happy to hear what you learn.
no subject
If only they shared that reason with the rest of the class, eh? I'd happily join them, had they not, according to the newspaper, already made their trek to see what they could see. Or is something else being organized?
no subject
[He knows, because it happened with his sons.]
no subject
Hmm? They been out too long? I don't recall that worrying piece of news. Granted, I don't know much of illegitimate magic, but I'd have thought they had some mystic means of keeping in touch with others. Have they lost contact inauspiciously?
no subject
How long has it been since they began their investigation? That information was never specified either.
no subject
How you work said device is an impressive feat. I'd never known, hehe, dragons' digits to be so dexterous. But you see what I mean about the paper being poor on particulars? Philosophy we can only guess at; not the tiniest tidbit of timekeeping. They must be confident in those mages, at least; goodness knows we've plenty of altruists with time on their hands who'd like nothing better than to accompany them, however long they're taking. And yet, rather than ask for help, they elect to go their merry, singular way. It's almost conspicuously suspicious.
no subject
[Huff.]
I'm assuming they would investigate in small groups, rather than the "merry, singular way," as you put it.
no subject
That they're doing so on my very doorstep is just flat out insulting. I may be a deputy guardian of Genessia, but Fayren is where I hang my hammers. If whoever seeks out this predator wishes an experienced summoner's aid, I would be more than happy to oblige.
no subject
Haha. Let's hope what else I'll discover is equally noble.
Oh, not that. I mean the general way the world carries on without us. Don't most of these things in the paper seem so remote? Some invisible divide between us and...the ones without necklaces. Suppose one can't help the distance, perhaps unreachable, between the ensouled and the soulless.
[Video]
video;
...I'll let you decide then. Do you think it would be better for me to stay and guard Fayren while you investigate this yourself?
no subject
I would welcome any aid, but I'm afraid I'm not in charge in this world. I am merely a deputy in Fayren myself. I'm leaving the decision to the Guardian, Yukiko.
[Video]
Well, I appreciate your aid. And Fairy Tail...I need to learn more about that...

[He admires that confidence, although he's puzzled about one thing.]
I have known many killers of dragons. Exactly what makes your equipment suitable for hunting such creatures?
no subject
[No. She really is not kidding.]
no subject
[If this were Sornieth, he would have doubted her claim. But he's already seen abilities beyond his imagination here in Genessia, so it doesn't sound so farfetched.]
Are there any gods to slay here?
no subject
[The gods she's killed were summoned by the beast tribes of her home world, but they were incredibly powerful all the same. Especially the Warring Triad...]
[Video]
Sure. What do you want to know about it?
video;
video;
[He gives her an affirmative nod.]
All right then, I'll join you.

I'm ready when you are.

[He can't think of anything he would need. His teeth, claws, and ice would be his weapons. Normally he'd bring a few potions, but Orphne isn't here to make them...]

[This "apex predator" really would have been right up his alley at home. Where he didn't have a reputation as a "pirate" he would likely earn the reputation as a beast hunter.]
I specialize in ice and water magic, but I have some ability with light as well. I'm able to use some healing magicks as result. I'm well acquainted with sword and gun as well.
[And flute, but he doesn't need to mention that being a weapon and get weird looks for it.]
no subject
[He's seen swords in Sornieth, although he hasn't seen any dragons wield them. They have been wielded by several of the Beastclans, however.]
Your abilities would certainly be useful.

I see. Normally I'd bring some potions myself if I don't have a healer with me. However, I don't have my medicine expert, and it's highly unlikely that anyone could make a potion large enough for me...

[Part of his ice decision came from the fact he's kind of the guardian-to-be of water and ice, but not that he knew it at the time.]
I will be happy to lend my services. [He bows his head slightly.] My name is Kazuya.
no subject
[The dragon gives a nod.]
I'll remember you if we do need to take action. I am Qubine.
