[ Mariko had asked Chiaki out to go see the sights of New York City during the costume party at Attleton. Anxious and excited, Mariko took her time to prepare for this day. She even picked out an outfit appropriate for a date, and made sure she looks nice and presentable in a simple casual outfit, that is slightly uncharacteristic for her to wear, given how Mariko prefers darker colors. Either way, Mariko picks Chiaki up in Genessia City, and drives her to the subarchway in Nova City aboard a rental car. With Mariko behind the wheel, they listen to some video game music along the way and trying to see if a game from Mariko's world exists in Chiaki's.
Once in the city, Mariko drives along the streets of the city, passing through the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and giving Chiaki a nice view of the skyline as the car cruises along towards Manhattan island ]
Cool, huh? Welcome to New York.
[ Mariko smiles at Chiaki on the passenger seat, lowering the window for her. ]
The city has a few game stores that sell some really old-school ones. Rare games that you can't find anymore, chances are they'll have it.

She couldn't help but be impressed.]
It's really cool. [She continued looking amazed, a wide smile on her face as she continued to look around. After a moment she glanced over, the smile still on her face.]
Old school games, huh? Those are some of the best kind of games. Though would they work back at Genessia?

[ Mariko is hoping it isn't some kind of magic that doesn't allow subarchway electronics to work outside of it. She's never really been through them much, or have brought anything back from it. ]
They sell some really old consoles too. I mean, they're used, but hey they would still function.
[ Mariko rolls her shoulder, passing through the end of the bridge and taking their first cruise over the island of Manhattan itself. They make it to the long stretch of street underneath an overpass. Very slowly, the everyday life of the city shows itself to Chiaki the longer they drove along the road, more pedestrians and more shops and businesses and buildings can be seen from the passenger seat's point of view, as they keep getting closer to the heart of Manhattan island. ]
Anyway, I don't have my ID with me so I don't think we can go inside the buildings of my old campus. If it would even work here, which it probably wont. Sadly. So what do you say we go touring the city, or watch a movie first before we check out the game stores? We have all day.

[Chiaki really knew very little about how things worked, but she liked to hope that if they could they could just bring them over and it means things to play.]
Used means nothing so long as it still works for the most part. Besides used means, it has a history as well. [She kept her eyes looking around the window before looking back.]
What movies are around? That would be something nice to do in the afternoon. Touring the city is a first though.

[ Mariko presses down on the gas pedal just a bit more, not enough to startle her passenger. She's just feeling a little bit more reckless from her excitement.
The day went as expected. First was passing through the campus of Columbia University where Mariko was going to right before her second coming to Genessia. Then they passed through some landmarks all over Manhattan, like Central Park and iconic buildings like the Empire State. After driving around and taking photos, they went to see a random horror movie in Mariko's favorite theater. Leaving the car in a parking lot a few blocks over, Mariko and Chiaki find themselves walking on the sidewalk to go get it. But not before Mariko points out to a beauty salon across the street. ]
Hey, see that place? I used to work there part-time.

[She nodded slightly before looking at the road for a moment. However, during the day, Chiaki had made sure to keep close so they didn't get separated or in Chiaki's case very, very lost while at the same time smiling and enjoying the sights that she was seeing, taking pictures and wondering if she was taking them correctly or if the light was decent enough.
When walking on the sidewalk she looked over to the beauty salon, pausing for a moment. It wouldn't have been the first thing she would have thought of for her working part time.]
I would never have guessed you worked there.
