To those who know the Doctor--and particularly this one--it's probably no surprise he's already on the move by the time he actually tries talking to someone on that phone, obviously wandering/exploring the city, by the way the background moves behind him.

"Hello, lovely holographic welcome wagon you've got, very informative, except not actually, leaves a few important questions unanswered, well, all of the important ones, really, in particular, it says 'kidnapped,' well, it happens I don't generally kidnap that easily, raises some questions, that. All the obvious ones, and, which of you know something more about it?"

He raises his eyebrows (such as they are) at the camera as though prompting anyone watching to go ahead and not be shy, smiling harmlessly. Either someone would answer with something helpful, or no one would, which would be informative, in itself; the automated gas defense that a sonic scan had revealed in the holoprojector had dissuaded him from trying to hack it, but had also raised his suspicions just a bit.

"Don't hesitate to give me a ring, might just be I can help, sort of a thing I do."

He smiles a little more at that, and clicks off.




Meanwhile, of course, anyone who happens to be in the streets of Genessia might have a chance to stumble across the fellow in the Victorian coat and bow tie, looking around like he's expecting to find... something, possibly many somethings, seemingly walking aimlessly but at quite a brisk pace. He very might well approach, though, if he spots something interestingly out-of-place or suggesting access to useful information or okay let's be honest just anything strange or interesting at all might grab his attention, at least for a moment...

"Funny, I thought the most important question was where are the Ponds," [she said, teasing a bit. She was using the proper video phone at the moment, not the sonic, because for all her joking she hadn't yet tested to see if he would see her, or just her eyeball like an Atraxi. Still, she was beyond thrilled to see him. And she looked good, dark shades on, a big old smile and... was that the Tardis behind her? Sure looked like it.]

"About time you got here. I'll have to fill you in on everything, of course." [A bright smile.]

Amy gets to experience a particularly rare treat: the Doctor totally thrown off for more than a second or two, and he even stops walking. It's not much more than a second or two, of course, but certainly a longer-than-usual wait what moment, but he laughs and grins.

"Haha, ohhh, Amelia."

He takes another second to collect himself as he churns quickly through the likely permutations; a little too realistically flippant to be a hologram or synthetic replica intended to make him drop his guard, most other options don't fit the environment and profiles or shouldn't be any more possible than it actually being Amelia, so, timelines out of sync is most likely, which means time-traveling kidnappers. He files that away for later as he smiles, just a bit of that enigmatic look.

"Yeah, well, I know exactly where you ought to be, so, what're you doing here?"

Don't think he didn't notice that blue box, either, but he's not about to tip his hand i.e. admit to being that much out of the loop by letting himself get flustered over that just yet.

[Okay, that look, that moment... well, she knew his next face missed her. So... maybe he was past her time. Sad thought, but it just made his being here now all the more special.]

"Oh now that's just a long story Doctor. Short version is... we've all been kidnapped, guessing you either skipped the speech or tried to edit it or something. Please tell me you didn't take the hologram thing apart just because you could..." [she said with a groan.] "Look, I'm on my way, I'll fill you in on everything. Where are you now?"

Sir. I hate to break this to you, you'll want to sit down.

Are you sitting?

... You've actually been kidnapped, the hologram isn't being over dramatic.

He's maybe a bit indignant at those accusations, although he's still too pleased to see her to get really peevish about it.

"Yeah, woke up in a silver egg in a duck pond in a cave, I worked out that first part. Here--"

He gives his smart phone a tilt to either side, to let her see where in the city he was--by his reckoning, at least, quicker and more specific than things like street names.

[The answer's prompt, and doesn't exactly sound traumatized or shocked so much as slightly peevish.]

Yeah, woke up in a silver egg in a duck pond in a cave, worked that bit out, well, could depend on what you mean by 'kidnapped,' but you sound as though you might have some more details. I heard what the hologram says, but why d'you say 'kidnapped,' though?

"Right. On my way, I'm not far." [Amy started jogging. Three of the Doctor. Here. She had to get to him before the others did. Alright then. Time to give them a puzzle. Rory and River would get it. Hopefully the others would waste time asking her what she meant. She cut the connection, blasted a message to the network, then tucked her phone away.

And she grinned as she saw that back before her. "Going to turn around and give me a proper hug, then?"

In this case the ransom is already being paid, but you're not going back no matter how many times you give it.

In any case, that's why I'm using the word kidnapped, unless you fully intended on being here, came of your own volition, and now have decided to stay for the tourism.

That gave him a few minutes to process, if not exactly to prepare. He had a rapidly growing to-do list of permutations to check off, contingencies to prepare, and a few other crucial points of interest some of them not actually that crucial to anyone but him. He also paced, because what even is sitting still for five minutes?

Considering his peculiar sense of style, it was perhaps remarkable once she'd gotten a full view of him that he was definitely not wearing that beige tweed, but a somewhat snappier (if still wildly anachronistic) coat. Maybe that's where the gray-haired one got the inspiration for his? He turned to meet her, and if he had any intention of being coy, it went straight out the window as he laughed and reached his arms out to hug her, only just stopping short of picking her up off her feet.

"Hahaha, ohh, Pond, how are you?"

He pulls back after a few seconds, enough to get a look at her--on the surface just pleased to see her, but making a point to gauge her point in her time stream based on how her clothes, her bearing.

[Well, he could do without the garnish, but aside from making a face, he mostly just picks out the bits he's interested in, disregarding the rest. He did at least answer the question, even if not directly.]

Random's already being paid, what d'you mean, what ransom, to whom?

Your emotions. Fear, I hear, is usually the preferred one but emotions in general.

To whom is another question, and I would love to explain everything about them.

She hugged him back tightly. "What, no kiss?" she teased. She ruffled his hair. "So, what's with the Jacket? She pulled back also to run her hands over the lapels. "Nice, I suppose." She grinned and winked at him from behind the glasses. "Alright. Figure I bought us another ten minutes, maybe, before anyone else shows up. So we'll have to start with the quick version."

[He raises his eyebrows slightly--then just answers with the smuggest smile. Snark, is it?]

Well, that's all right, you've been very helpful.

[Either that's exceptionally subtly-delivered sarcasm, or else he found something more useful in those answers than Szel'd intended to offer.]

I'm going to guess you think you have a lot of answers now, don't you?

"Ah, yeah, y'like it? Picked it up in Victorian England."

He gives her one of those enigmatic smiles, so there's obviously more to it than just finding a coat--but there's always more to it no matter where he goes, after all, so perhaps that's not exactly suspicious. He's a little perturbed at having to be filled in at all, really, but if someone has to do it, Amy's far from the worst choice...

"Got the 'kidnapping' bit so far, ransom's emotional energy, or so I'm told, narrows the field a bit if that's right, what've you got?"

A lot, no, of course not, I've been here about five minutes, a lot should take fifteen at least, no, not a lot, just some of the important ones.

[A brief pause.]

Why d'you ask?

"How about three of you and only one Tardis?" she asked with a grin. She found herself a place to sit, and sat, stretching her legs out in front of her. "The one of you before you, and one sometime after. The one sometime after fixed my glasses for me, and bought me this skirt. Spoiler alert, you actually grow something close to a sense of style. Almost," she said with a grin, gesturing for him to sit beside her. "No more bowties, anyway."

Fifteen entire minutes to puzzle out a brand new dimension?

No, okay, I'll grant you that, this one is not that complicated, I could do it in ten minutes and half way into a bottle of Gray Goose.

I'm asking because nothing you or anyone else here knows of from home even applies here, and I would know that for certain because I've personally discovered it myself.

Everything is made up and your rules don't matter.

Three of him? Oh, that was going to be trouble...

He's a little too perturbed in that moment for her to even get much of a rise from him with that teasing. It takes him a moment, peering at her, before he moves to sit down. He does get a bit indignant once he's sitting and processing, though, his chin wiggling a little combatively.

"...whose TARDIS, then?"

Meaning from which point in his timeline, of course, since it seems there are three to choose from.

Yes, very impressive, eleven-hundred years of time and space, I've seen a parallel universe or two, but thanks for the tip anyway.

[Okay, that was definitely sarcasm. ...as though everyone old has seen parallel universes.]

They're not all the same, you peasant, every dimension is intrinsically different than the last one in some way, shape or form, even if the difference is absolutely the most idiotically minute thing.

This one has it's own particular quirks to it, I just said it's not complicated.

"Don't suppose you can tell me what you were thinking, the whole Metacrisis thing? I gave her my two cents of course, but it was mostly guessing made to look like certainty." She bumped his shoulder lightly with hers. Guess where she learned that, Doctor.

[His reaction's not just thoroughly unruffled, but amused.]

Never said they were the same, I said I've seen a few. If you're going to be stroppy, you can at least try to pay attention. Now then if you've got something to add I don't already know, I'm all ears, well, sort of, I've been more ears in the past, actually, but never mind that, as you were.

There's a bit of a squeak in his voice, at that, although he recovers quickly.

"..ah.. not just you and the two of them, then, anyone else I ought to know about?"

As with most personal questions about his past, he's a bit less than eager to answer if she's not committed enough to hang on past a distraction or two, especially when there's something more pressing on his mind.
