[As far as brooding teenage boys, he certainly looks the part, glaring at the device in hand. He looks in fact, like he needs a shower, dirt and blood smudged on his cheek like he's been in a fight.]
Something tells me this isn't the afterlife.
[His voice is somewhat sarcastic.]
Is there some sort of god I should be...offering my thanks to?
[Not that that thank you will be especially pleasant.]

Video.
Not sure myself dear, but at least you're alive. This place is complicated, especially to Blair.

Complicated doesn't surprise me anymore.
no subject
What's wrong with staying alive?

[Well, that made Blair sad when she heard that. If it wasn't for her hat, her ears be folded down. She had to make due with the frown and eyes.]
Maybe cute guys weren't meant to die. You can cuddle Blair if you want.

I...I'm good.

Scoffing: ] Nobody claimin to be a god has stepped up. So far.

That's somewhat disappointing, because if such a thing did exist I'd have many choice words for them.
no subject
Are you sick of people sayin they're a god, or ...
[ Or disappointed you're not dead? That this isn't the afterlife? The question might hang in the air, but Shinjiro cuts himself off before he asks. ]
no subject
No, I've never met anyone like that.
[It's very much the latter. He sighs, looking tired.]
no subject
[ He gets it. He really does. Which is why Shinjiro isn't going to call attention to it. Personally, he's also exhausted, but much too practiced in hiding it. ]
no subject
[That would be something, really. He's just had a really rough night.]

A not unreasonable conclusion; some have guessed at Purgatory, but that's doubtful. At any rate, welcome! And yes, there is a God to be offering your thanks to. Healthy habit, that. What's your name?
Thank you, I suppose.
[He snorts softly.] I'm not sure thanks is what I'm offering.
[He pauses.]
Yuuki or Koide. I don't care.
Re: [Video]
Hah, well when you are sure, I'm sure it'd be just the thing.
"Yuuki or Koide", eh? Not many are fortunate enough to be endowed with two. What do they mean?
[He could look those up, but he's pretty sure those are asian names, which bear different meanings depending on the characters. Blasted Kanji!]
[He blinks at the question.]
Koide is written in the sense of it meaning leaving. Yuuki is written in manner of walls, or a castle.
My dad has a terrible sense of humour, my first name is worse.
[Ugh, parents.]
Re: [Video]
[Dark!]
...your life, you mean? Being fine with it ending at all is...unusual. Suppose if one were martyred that might bring some satisfaction...
Aheh, oh, a surname too, my mistake. I confess I'm in the dark to your father's humor. What joke was he making? Intuitive of you to pick up on the difficulties though.
[Some contrast, perhaps? A wall meaning enclosure, shelter, but leaving being a negation of those things? When it comes to jokes, he must know.]
[He shrugs slightly.]
He named me Natsuno after a noble. It means summer field. It is all terribly ironic. In any case, one is my legal name, one is my proper name. Things get complicated when your parents can't be bothered to get married.

[She knows she pretty much is back home anyway, but she can't really say the same for others.]
So...instead of the afterlife, maybe it's something else.
