[It takes an uncomfortably long time for Genessia's latest arrival to regain consciousness, and even after he does his best to make sense of the introductory pamphlet (not the strangest way he's been welcomed to a new world, it has to be said), he remains a bit disoriented.

He'd been on his way to Radiant Garden... hadn't he? What, or who, transported him to this new world? Maybe it's an unannounced part of his keyblade training?

Thinking about it makes his head ache.

He studies his reflection in the shallow water for a moment, and once he's confident that he's still—well, himself—he slips on the weird necklace and stiffly regains his feet.

Only to faceplant in the water a second later when he tries to take a step. Groaning, he sits up and rubs his head, muttering to himself.]

I knew there'd be side effects, but this is ridiculous!

[...The side effects of having undergone magically hastened training in Merlin's little pocket dimension thingymabob, of course, where 'time flows differently'. But the vertigo certainly hadn't been this pronounced before, when he'd played the dashing hero and had swooped in to save Sora and company from the 'nort army right in the nick of time.

That had been pretty awesome.

Overlooking what had been done to his childhood best friend, anyway...

Sighing, he retrieves the pamphlet and videophone from the water, shakes them off and hopes he hasn't ruined either, then carefully makes his way out into the city proper.

The videophone proves to be ~~a Nokia~~ sturdier than it looks, as it functions without a hitch, playing the public audio and video messages of residents as they're broadcast. Lea pays close attention to each message, but refrains from responding to any, instead focusing on exploring the city for a time. The residents around him seem to infer intoxication from his slightly antalgic gait and occasional stumble, and give him a wide berth. Being dressed head to toe in black probably doesn't give the most friendly impression either, he figures. But there's nothing to be done about it.]

[Eventually realising he's gone past the exact same area several times now, Lea drops onto a sidewalk bench and slouches back, staring up at the sky. Just his luck, it's looking like it'll probably rain soon.

He considers his videophone for a moment before thumbing it on to broadcast a video message.]

Yo!

[He waves at the screen.]

I know most of my questions can't be answered by anyone here, so I won't waste your time with those. What I do wanna know is, where can a guy get some ice cream?

[Priorities: He has them.]

And that applying for a job thing. What kind of—work, are we talking about here?

[Operating under the assumption that this might very well be part of his training, he won't presume he gets the luxury of a vacation. And if he seems circumspect with his work inquiry, his former 'employer' and profession can be fully blamed for it.]

[And the image of a girl in red and black almost instantly pops up on the screen.]

Did you just say ice cream?

[The reply is so fast it almost startles him. A+ customer service or someone cultivating an ice cream addiction too?]

Yeah, that's the important part. [It's said with a smile and no sarcasm whatsoever.] Any ideas where I can get some?

[Mainly column B. Scratch that, it's most certainly column B.]

I most certainly do!

[She'll pull out a map of the city. There are numerous circles drawn on different parts of the map.]

All the green circles are places where you can get ice cream. You're at the bay, right?

So the closest spot is probably right here.

[She'll point to a circle not too far away from where the Bay is marked on the map.]

If you want some company, I can always join you!

[...The bay?

He rubs the back of his neck while taking in his surroundings once more. He did try to follow his map before, when he was wandering around, but still isn't sure where he is, exactly.

Her guess is as good as his.]

The bay, huh... [Studying her marked up map, he nods. Shouldn't be too hard to find. Hopefully.] Thanks. I guess the least I can do is buy you an ice cream in return for your help, huh? I'll meet you there. Might wanna hurry, it's starting to rain.

[And sure enough several drops fall onto his vidphone screen as he turns it off. He tucks away the device and fishes out his map from the pamphlet, and begins finding his way to the nearest ice cream hot spot.]

Really!? You'd do that for me? You're the best!

[She's not going to say no to free ice cream, she'd have to be crazy to do that.]

Don't worry, I'll be there in a jiffy.

[Luckily moving fast is actually one of the things Ruby is very exceptional at. She wont just arrive at the ice cream shop, but she'll take a bit of extra time to track Lea down herself.

In a burst of speed and rose petals, a fifteen year old girl in a red hood has suddenly sprung up beside him. What do Lea?]

Hey!

[So Lea's pretty used to people popping up unannounced, but generally preceded by a Corridor of Darkness—not simply appearing, as she seems to do, and he's predictably startled.]

Oh! Looks like you beat me.

[Which is a good thing, seeing as he'd been kind of lost. Being disoriented is bad enough, but being dropped into an unfamiliar city just makes it worse. He laughs a little and rubs his neck.] So, uh... which way was it again...?

[Realising he doesn't even know the girl's name. Manners, what are those?] I'm Lea, by the way. [Pointing to his temple.] Got it memorised? [Don't worry, it's just ~~his catch phrase~~ a rhetorical question.]

[Ruby will smile brightly, she's awfully proud of herself for catching up to him.]

Oh, it's this way. Come on, I'll show you!

[She's about to grab his hand and drag him off in the direction of the ice cream store when he goes to introduce himself. She'll raise a brow when he asks if she's got it memorized.]

Lea... Lea... Lea... Lea...

Okay, I think I got it!

Oh! I'm Ruby, nice to meet you!

[His brow tenses as he squints at the screen.

He's actually looking at one detail. It doesn't take long for his question to be answered: there aren't any tattoos under this guy's eyes.

So, had Lea wound up somehow following after him from That Place? If that was the case, it'd give Sora some hope that Riku would follow suit.

Still, Zeref hadn't remembered Sora, so...there was a chance Lea wouldn't have memories of that place, as well. The brunette did his best to shove all doubt aside and hold firm to the smile he greets the redhead with.]

Lea! So, you wound up here, too, huh? [Pause. He saw that someone is already taking him to get some ice cream, sooo...] There's all sorts of places to work, around here. I think it'll just depend on what kind of job you're looking for?

[He shrugs a shoulder, reaching back to scratch at the side of his head.] If you want, I could show you to some of the places I know need help. And, maybe we could stop for ice cream, in the meantime?

[Sora's reply is met with wide-eyed surprise. And not just because he actually got Lea's name right on the first go. ~~He does get a cookie for that, though.~~]

Finally got it memorised, I see.

[He can't help but smile. Admittedly it's still kind of... awkward, interacting with Sora, knowing that he might not share Roxas's memories and so may never fully understand what his Nobody meant to Axel—to Lea. It's difficult to deal with losing a friend, on top of being forgotten like that. But Lea's been trying to make peace with that fact, for both their sakes.

Well. This more or less confirms his suspicion that he's here for a reason, whatever that reason may be. Can't be coincidence that Sora's here too, right? Something's definitely... up.]

Sure, I'd like that. [And to his credit, he doesn't bat an eye at Sora's ice cream invitation.] Maybe you can fill me in on what you know about this world, too. Wanna meet up somewhere? [He taps his chin with a finger, looking thoughtful.] ...Of course, I don't actually know what part of the city I'm in right now.

[That immediately answers his question. It's the same response he'd gotten from Lea when he first met him, aboard the Spades' ship. He's not able to hide the disappointment in his smile. Letting out a somewhat awkward laugh, he scratches at the back of his head.]

Well, I...kind of had plenty of time to do it, back in the last world we were in together. [Pause.] Well...sort of. I'm assuming you're like Zeref and- don't actually remember that world. The three of us were on the same crew, though.

[His eyes do brighten at the agreement, however. With a grin, he nods.] Yeah, sure! I'll tell you everything I know! [To Lea saying he doesn't know what part of the city he's in, Sora blinks.] Oh, uh...that's fine. I'll come to you. What all can you see?

[Being in the last world for seven months had taught him a couple of things about locating people.]

[Have a blonde on your screen trying to look as serious as she possibly could.]

What kind of work Why anything you want to do, of course. I for one am doing something just until I get some money and then my real job will begin.

[She gives a light chuckle.]

Basically if you want to do a certain type of work, I'm sure you can do it.

Anything I want to do? Sounds like my kinda place. [His reply is wry, but he's grinning. In truth, it's something of a relief to find out he presumably won't be required to do any of those... 'icky' jobs, the sort he was stuck with so often back home.]

Hanging out at the beach with friends, eating ice cream... I don't suppose there's any job openings for that, is there? [He sounds so hopeful, too.]

[She pauses for a moment.]

Considering summer is coming soon, I wouldn't see why there wouldn't be. [Summer usually mean those kind of things after all.]

[Kairi looked slightly happier at seeing him. Someone from their own world being here.]

I see your here as well, Lea. I'm glad. {Yep, she knows your name since she was use to it in the last place she was in before now.]

As for ice cream, I believe there is a store that sells it somewhere.

[Having already discovered that Sora's in this world, it's less surprising to see others he knows here. What is unexpected is that Kairi actually appears... happy? Even claiming to be glad that he's here?]

Really? [He raises his brows, then chuckles as he rubs his neck, glancing away from the screen. It's heartening that she doesn't seem to hold a grudge about that whole—er, kidnapping business, from back when he was Axel.] I mean, it's good to see some familiar faces here. It's just that—I kinda... I owe you something.

[She pauses for a moment, utterly confused at what exactly he meant by owe her something.]

Owe me something? [No matter how much she tried to think about it, nothing came to mind right away.]

For what, exactly? [She had some idea he probably wasn't the same Lea she knew in that other place, so she knew that anything there was out.]

An apology. [Because he'd sort of... died?... before he could offer one before. And since he views his return to personhood as a second chance, that makes it a prime opportunity to try to make amends for his past actions as Axel—the ones he regrets, anyway.

This resolve is reflected in his expression as he looks at the vidphone screen.]

Before, when I was Axel... I'm sorry for what I did to you, Kairi.

[Ah, so that was it. She pauses for a moment. To be honest she had personally forgiven that a few months past, but she felt like she should at least say it out loud.]

It's fine. So long as you mean it when you apologize then I forgive you.

You get sent to a totally different world and the first thing you want to find is ice cream?

[Aren't human's ridiculous?]

[An indifferent shrug, and his voice is amused.] It's the only thing I want that I stand a good chance of getting.

[After all, he already knows the information he wants isn't something that other residents can give him. And of course there's things... friends... he'd want more than dessert, but those are likewise an impossibility. Hey, he's pragmatic.]

You're not seeking basic amenities and more basic forms of nourishment?

[He finds that quite interesting to say the least.]

Probably any kind of work you're qualified to do. We don't need people going around and trying to be doctors when they have no medical experience.

[Oh, and there's the catch. Not that he's planning on impersonating something he's not, anyway. Nurse uniforms aren't his thing.]

Makes sense. [But unfortunately doesn't really narrow it down for him.] I'm sure I'll figure out something...

What sort of things do you normally do?

Before I was brought here? I was training in preparation for a war. And before that, I was part of an—Organization.

[He taps his chin with a finger, thinking.]

I've spent most my time learning magic, improving my fighting skills, rescuing the hero and his friends, gathering information, doing reconnaissance, juggling plots within plots... I mentored for a while... [Don't ask how it went. :|]

[A frown as he realises it sounds like everything he does revolves around fighting. Well, it basically does.] I guess... I need to find out what else I can do. Doesn't sound like many hero-rescues are needed here.

No, but if you take that you can phrase it in a way that describes skills you can use when you interview for a position.

For example: You're a diligent and determined learner, illustrated by your practice of magic and ever-improving fighting skills that have allowed you to go so far as to rescue someone-- which also shows that you're willing to put others ahead of yourself. Gathering information could be stated as self-sufficient at research and working, and your bosses trusted you to get your job done independently.

I probably wouldn't mention that you juggled plots, since that sounds like you were probably double-crossing someone and that isn't something you want to tell someone who wants to hire you. The mentoring is good to mention though, as long as you did it well.

[ What can she say? She's the heiress to a large corporation, she knows how to turn literal job skills into more generalized ones that can be applied in multiple ways. ]

Label them all leadership skills and you should be able to convince someone you're hireable.
