[Rapunzel is sitting in her apartment. On her lap appeared to be a puppy that she had come across when the dogs had been let loose. Why she decided to take it home with her was really any ones guess, but it was currently relaxing while she was giving it a fuss.

As Rapunzel stroked it, she usual smile had been replaced with a small frown. She was pondering something.]

So... from the newspaper and learning something has made me think that... My mother wasn't full wrong in telling me of the dangers that exist. I mean she made it sound like everything was and.... she was wrong in that, but... I am not naive enough to think everything is okay. It's just really hard to tell.

[She paused for a moment, carefully moving the puppy off her lap and onto her bed.]


But I have a question. Is there a way to be able to tell if someone has bad intentions or not? Is it something that is even easy to tell? I ask because I am curious that is all.

[She looks over for a brief moment before remembering she had something else to add. So putting some stray strands of hair behind her ear she speaks.]

Also, I am still taking requests for paintings and clothing still as another job. So if you have something even a wall that needs painting let me know by this device or through the post and I will get to it as quickly as I can.

Experience, mostly, as far as I can tell.

[Helgi sighs, he wasn't sure if he should have spoken up, since he was lacking in said experience himself. But it was such an earnest question he didn't want to leave it unanswered.]

You have to trust your gut as well, if something feels off even if you can't tell what it is then you'd be smart to keep your guard up.

But really, sometimes, you just can't tell.

Well experience is something I don't have.

So...the gut is something one uses. I got it. Not sure how I will figure out if it's my gut but we'll see.

Yeah, I'm working on that myself, but it will come in time.

And yes, your gut, instinct, woman's intuition, whatever you want to call it. It's just, when someone seems okay, and you got no reason to think they're bad but they still give you the creeps, that's probably your gut telling you there's something off even if you can't really tell what.

It's hard to describe when you've never felt it yourself... but have you ever had a moment like that? When everything looked right but felt wrong?

No, I've not had a moment like that, not back at home and not here either.

Lots of people look like regular guys, but are ... seriously bad news.

[ Shrugs ] Though, it can happen the other way, too.

So the opposite effect can happen as well. People who look mean that aren't really?

[Makes sense but she isn't sure how this is helping her in anyway.]

I know it might not be easy, but I want to at least have some understanding of how some people might be able to tell.

Usually. If you see 'em doin somethin which goes against what you stand for.

Some people'll put up a good front, though.

I ain't got an easy answer for ya.

Ah, so those are the kinds of people I should look out for.

What sort of clothes do you make?

So...watching people for a really long time?

I make any kind of clothes. I mean I am still learning things like trousers, but it's not that hard.

Often I find you need to wait to form an opinion.


Do you mind working with the color black?

You can feel it! And sometimes you can tell just by looking them in the eye.

What can you see in the eye? I mean you said you can tell by looking them in the eye, so I assume it's because there is something there.

Well...y'know how you can look at some people and see they're just really sincere? It's almost like they're warm?

Sometimes you can look at someone and see coldness in their eyes. Or something icky...that just doesn't feel right.

It can be hard to tell, especially if they are good at pretending they are good people. That said though, I think most people have good intentions.

[He sighs softly and tilts his head.]

What kind of clothing do you make? Not to distract from your question, but I did only come with what was on my back and it is...in poor shape to say the least.

I like to think that, but I get told it's not always the case and I think people think because I am wanting to trust people that it makes me naive. I mean... I can be due to circumstances, but still, I am learning.

I can make any kind. I am working on expanding, beyond dresses to shirts and trousers and things like that, which is actually really fun.

No, I don't think it's naivete, and when someone does do something they shouldn't the blame can hardly fall on you. I still believe most people have good intentions, most of the time.

[He sighs, he'd know.]

I would not be looking for a dress, but yes, shirts and trousers would be ideal. I have some money that I was given when I arrived, how much would you like for your services?

That's... really hard. I mean, I always give everyone I meet the total benefit of the doubt, and nine times out of ten there's a good person to be found in everyone. But sometimes....

Well, the best we can all do is to be our very best, and try to encourage the people we surround ourselves with to do the same.

That is what I am trying, I mean after being told of the horrors of the outside world and seeing what I have seen... I want to try and do that if I can and I like to think I am...

[She still gets scared at things she still found from time to time, more so if and when she goes to Everglade again.]

Try and encourage people to be their best. I might try and do something like that in the future, maybe.

[This is a subject that is touchy for Mitsuru, but one that she cannot ignore either.]

I don't think it's possible for us to truly know what is in another person's heart and mind if they don't want us to know. That is the limitations of communications.

If one side wishes to deceive, then we are susceptible if we wish to interact with them.

But it's just as foolish to think that everyone is out to deceive as it is to think that no one is. Only experience can truly show who is on which side.

[As she listened she figured that it meant there really was no easy answer to knowing. But Rapunzel felt like she was starting to understand that.]

So... Just experience and hoping for the best is all one can do?

[Nothing is so black and white as to have a clear-cut answer. Especially not when it comes from dealing with other people.]

Blind trust isn't something that I would recommend. Keeping a level head on your shoulders and remembering to listen to your own conscience is the best advice that I can give you.

A lot of people did say about instincts, which I am starting to understand now. It's not something I have just yet.

Usually instincts come with experience, and most, if not all, experience isn't pleasant.
