A win-lose situation [Action]

[In the dead of night, a caped vigilante finds himself staring at a hologram of a female explaining why he was in this "Genessia."]

He hissed and narrowed his fiery eyes."

"So I wasssss... kidnapped."

[That... sure is a demon, standing there. But it's a demon with a human soul. Soma can relate. That doesn't mean he's going to go say 'hi' to the big, scary man in luchador-slash-vampire-chic getup. That would just be begging for trouble, and he doesn't make a habit of doing that.]

[...Who the hell am I kidding? He does that on a daily basis. So, Spawn, meet Dracula's reincarnation, who looks curiously like a college student.]

I take it you're new here? I think I'd remember seeing someone as... distinctive as you.

Easy, big guy. The lady in the hologram is Weiss Schnee. She's a good person, but she has family problems. And no, she's not the reason you're here, so don't go deciding to threaten her, because it won't help. We're all trapped here against our will, her included. And... sorry, but I don't know any Wanda.

[Soma's not stupid - he knows what it looks like when someone represses an attack instinct. So he's not approaching, nor is he being threatening, at all.]

You might want to dial back the aura a bit. People are trying to sleep, and sleep's a damn hard thing to do when you're feeling waves of malice like what you're putting off. I can take you someplace it won't bother someone, if you can't control it.

Yes, I do. I have one of my own, but it's pulled in tight enough you won't be able to detect it that far away. Can you fly? The place I'm talking about is a bit far away from here.

[Not an idle question. Getting this guy in the air, away from the surface and innocent bystanders, is priority one right now.]

I'll take that as a 'yes'. Follow me.

[Soma leads Spawn to the Everglades intercity gateway, then demonstrates how to get through the checkpoint there. He uses the same rooftop-hopping flight method, mostly because he can only do 'true' flight as a bat, which is slow as hell. Once they're in Everglade, he makes towards the Castlevania subarch.]

A few things you need to know before we get there. One: The place is full of monsters. They won't attack you if I'm with you, at least right now. If you attack them first, though, it's open season. Two: I'm not the owner of the place, but I know the guy. With you not being fully human, he should be fine with you popping in. Three: I'm not a vampire, but the owner is. If that's going to cause problems, tell me now.

[And at that last bit, they've stopped just outside an archway with a portal inside.]

Mind you, I don't particularly care if you beat the crap out of him - but his wife is another story. If you harm her, we're going to have problems.

[Soma nods in reply, and enters the portal first. On the other side, they find themselves in a castle courtyard, one that's currently playing host to a pack of wargs - very, very large wolves. There are a few werewolves, too - and there seems to be a game of some kind going on. One involving large bits of wood being thrown by the werewolves, chased and brought back by the wargs.]

[Yes. The demons are playing a (literally) giant game of fetch.]

...I have to admit, this is the first time I've ever seen this happen.

Same here. [He's just going to join Spawn in staring for a few minutes. As he watches, he begins to understand - if not the specifics behind it, then at least who was responsible. It could only be Lisa's influence.]

Well, let's leave them to their game, and I'll show you to a guest room.

[There's a curiously festive air to the whole castle as they wander its halls, heading for the Demon Guest House. ...Yes, that is an actual location in the castle.]

I think I know what's going on, or at least the root cause. Vlad's wife arrived here the other day; she was burnt at the stake about seven hundred years ago, for practicing medicine. The church called her a witch.

[There's a not-insubstantial amount of anger in his own voice at the thought.]

[OOC: No, this is at least two weeks before the event. At this point this log is pretty heavily backdated.]
