How long have I been gone?! I didn't expect to fall asleep one day and find myself back in a welcome box, but now I've discovered that my tea shop is closed?! What manner of-

[The woman with the blond hair, curls, and white ribbons takes a deep breath to steady her nerves. Turning on her device and just broadcasting her question was probably not the smartest way of getting the answers she sought. Clearly it had been some time, even Robin's book store was empty, but some of the businesses she as familiar with were still running.]

Miss... Amagi? I would ask once again if I might partake of your generous hospitality until I have sorted myself out. I assume you are still here, even if some of my other closest friends and confidants no longer are because your business is still open. Unless of course you had the foresight to write a will and someone else has inherited your business in your absence... which should I re-open my business I likely shall do.

[She heaved a sigh... it felt like the worst of times she'd had when she was a ship captain, or when she'd first started out here.]

Miss Schnee... it seems you were correct about me, I did not stay for as long as I thought I would. Nevertheless, I hope you are well and will continue to offer you an olive branch of peace should you choose to accept it.

[She wasn't sure if the woman had gotten over the whole incident with Battler, the memory of it still fresh in Maribelle's mind, as well as her choosing to not attend the grand opening of her cafe.]

Smoker... if you're still here I could use a friend like you now more than ever. Please contact me if you have any information regarding anyone from the kingdom of Ylisse, or if any of the marines from the grand line are still here. If you do know who I am, I would appreciate seeing a familiar face right now.

[Maribelle comes back on to make a quick addendum now that she's found Robin, and had some more time to think clearly.]

[Grell remembers that voice, and seeing her face finally...isn't as helpful as she had thought.]

If you truly must find your friends, you can find a directory of who is here and deduce that anyone not on it isn't here.

[Yeah... she'd managed to sort of avoid Grell and Marco the last time she was in Genessia. Being confronted by the Captain of the bloody roses... was rather unnerving.]

Err... yes... thank you for the assistance. I suppose I was simply in a panic when I first arrived here.

[A panic that is not being easily calmed by the first person to respond to her... when she said she'd appreciate seeing a familiar face...]

[Her grin widens at the recognition. Surely she'd be seen from the wanted posters from the previous world. But here? She'd be seen because she's a guardian of an entire city.

That happens to most of us. [But not her.] Although I thought this wasn't your first time here.

[Really? Why her?]

As you may be well aware, sorting through a flurry of information is not my forte, but besides that, I myself am a recent re-arrival, so perhaps the others might have returned, and thus not be on such a directory.

[Or at least she hoped. Because with enemies like Grell... she could REALLY use a friend... or twenty.]

[Shrugs casually.] I'm certain you'll find some down time to sort through it all. Depending on how long you've been gone, I can catch you up.

[Maribelle... can you really show disdain for someone assuming something that's been proven to be true on more than one occasion? She doesn't like this... she doesn't like this at all. She remembers Grell's crew setting fire to an entire island, but at the same time most people her are likely unaware of this fact, and calling her out on it might just make her seem like the villain here in the eyes of the innocent citizens of Genessia.]

If you are willing to catch me up on just the current events, then I will listen.

[See Grell? Maturity! She's listening to what pirate scum has to say, even if she doesn't like them, and likely will double check everything she's been told just in case.]

Let's see...we currently have four City Guardians, and two co-City Guardians. David Haller protects Genessia City, Yukiko Amagi protects Fayren, Cassian Andor protects Attleton, Garrus Valkarian and Mercury Black have taken over for Weiss Schnee after she stepped down, and I protect Everglade. Nova City and Everglade have new mayors. The father of Miss Schnee is one of them, for Nova City.

In the time I've been here, which is almost two years, the barrier has broken in Genessia City, and that was a headache to deal with. It's back up again, though. The usual odd events still occur.

[There! All updated! And Grell smiles to her in a pleasing way. She dares you to call her out on being an awesome pirate. Just to see what happens.]

YOU?!

[Maribelle is actually shaking with contempt and rage. Grell wouldn't make such an easy to prove lie, so the thing that Maribelle dreaded most was that... she was telling her the truth because she knew how much it would rile her up. Well... she certainly succeeded there.]

YOU are a city Guardian!? THE BUTCHER OF MAHILINI ISLAND?! THE WOMAN WITH THE HIGHEST BOUNTY I'D EVER SEEN!? YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO-I... YOU....

[Maribelle is actually stammering with clearly not very well withheld contempt and rage.]

Unthinkable! Absolutely grotesque! HOW!? What pagan gods did you sell your soul to, to ACCOMPLISH such a feat?! I-

[Must... remain calm... must... not snap.]

*Ahem*

[Yeah... even her normal dainty ahem is strained.]

C-Congratulations on your... success.

[Someone please stop the planet, she wants to get off.]

[Some time between the second and third attempt to form words and vent, Grell was cackling with pure glee. True, Grell couldn't invent a lie that would have been better at riling her up, and Grell was always a strong believer that the truth hurt more than lies.]

You've some nerve! Have you forgotten that the entire island was full of cannibals?! I doubt even you would not be as forgiving if they tried to fatten you up and season you to perfection!

[Shrugs]

Besides, one of the co-City Guardians is a known murderer, who is reformed. So...anything is possible~!

[Well congratulations Grell... Maribelle has faced a fell dragon of the apocalypse, fought kings and gods on equal terms, but for one of the first times in her life she wants to scream in abject terror.]

Do you know if Battler had ever been caught? There had been an incident with him when I was here last, and I'm not sure if he simply disappeared or if he ever got a fair trial.

Sometimes, you may not be wrong, but that would be far too much flattery for me.

[Now there's a name she hasn't heard in a bit. Grell raises an eyebrow at Maribelle.]

A fair trial? Now that would have been difficult, given his broadcast.

[She would have loved to have seen that trial go through, and all the protection he would've needed for no one to kill him.]

Unfortunately, he wasn't caught, but he did disappear, along with his accomplice.

I see... I'm not sure whether I am disappointed or relieved. It likely is best for all involved that he is no longer here, himself included. I know he stirred up quite a lot of bad blood with many of the citizens here, but I'm not entirely convinced he was acting of his own accord.

[She'd seen someone forced to kill against their will before, and she would not have wanted the entire community to forever hate and scorn a man who could in fact be innocent.]

Oh? He would certainly be quite the actor if that's true. What makes you so unsure he didn't act alone?

[Battler didn't seem like someone was twisting his arm, and even his former girlfriend was his victim.]

I don't think it's the olive branch you need to be offering.

[He's just saying. How she treated Weiss, and all of the others by association, wasn't the best.]

Because as I understand it, he went through a rather sudden transformation from being their friend into being the monster that harmed everyone. From my experience, there are not that many people who would have the patience to sit and pretend to be something they weren't for so long simply to hurt as many people as possible. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I would have liked to get to the heart of the matter rather than jumping to conclusions like everyone seemed to.

It seems much more likely and possible to me that he could have been controlled by someone or something else. That opinion is vastly unpopular and has earned me the ire of many of his victims, but if that something or someone is still at large we could all still be in danger of something happening again.
