[The woman that appears on the screen appears frustrated, her hair red and shorn close to her scalp and her lilac dress half-damp from momentary unsteadiness in the bay. There are dark, damp splotches up the front of it. Regardless, she carries herself like some kind of royalty]

I am Medusa.

[Her speech is measured, but it almost feels like she might be trying to be more personable. It just isn't going well. It would help, potentially, if she were smiling, but she doesn't have it in her today.]

Since this is my only method of communication at this time, I wanted to make my presence known. [She takes a deep breath, expression still fixed.]

I'm sure that given everything I have seen so far you have heard this before, but this is not a good time. No offense meant, of course, to our hosts.

[Oh, it was meant.]

If anyone happens to see an oversized bulldog, please let me know. I need to get home.

...In the classical sense, or is that just your name? Either is fine, mind. Just wondering if I need to start wearing my anti-petrification glasses or anything.

[Scott is checking the comm rather casually during his lunch hour at work, which is why it takes him a second to register who is he looking at.

....and he immediately drops his phone to the ground.

So much for him trying to keep a low profile in the city about being a mutant. If an Inhuman is here, and one that once tried to kill him, that won't work for long.

After a few seconds, he picks up the phone again. It dawns on him the horror that must be for Medusa to be stripped of her powers like that. He too arrived with a dampening collar on, coursety of Emma Frost, it's not fun to be that vulnerable.]

Queen Medusa? What...happeend to your hair?

[It's a direct question but it shows in the teen's face that he knows this is now how things should be.]

Lockjaw isn't in the cities, I'd have noticed.

Sorry. Where I came from, this is a legitimate concern. I've been petrified... more times than I care to remember. Usually over spike pits.

I've seen the box. The brochures. [She shakes her head like the entire thing is still ridiculous to her.] That's my main concern. Unless there happen to have been any other recent arrivals. Anyone who maybe...stood out?

[She doubted she was not alone. But still, she could ask. She wished she didn't sound so hopeful.]

[He knows her. The fact itself should not be troubling, but there is no recognition when she takes in his face. His eyes may be covered, but she thinks she would recall if one of her people's terrigenesis had resulted in some sort of need for peculiar eyewear. No one on Earth should know her, even if he had been one of those effected recently.]

[Her hand goes to the back of her neck, the edge of her hairline there almost by reflex. A pained look flickered over her face.]

How do you know me? Who are you? I don't know you.

[She forced certainty into her voice. He even knew Lockjaw's name. Something wasn't right.]

Well - that depends on your perception of standing now, doesn't it?

You could argue that we all stand out to each other to varying degrees.

[Because to be honest Ten didn't second glance at the five new arrivals]

[Why was he talking to her? She had put out the video, but there seemed to almost no point.]

[She wasn't going to give specifics right now. This was about expedience, but it wouldn't pay not to at least be careful.]

Moreso than I like to admit. As for advice... Couple things. First, whatever you did back home, put aside your conflicts for the duration of your stay here. There are plenty of problems for us to deal with without someone bringing a war along. Second, you're going to have to find a job; if you don't have marketable skills, try to figure out something you enjoy and look for a tutor. Most of us are more than willing to share expertise. I know someone's been advertising blacksmithing lessons, among other things. If all else fails, there's the bounty board - signing up for that will get you steady pay plus bonus pay for any bounties you take from the boards or the paper.

[Despite their issues and the deaths, Scott is more than happy to put that behind them. She didn't seem to recognize him and that is as concerning as the new haircut. Perhaps the people who did that to her tampered with her mind? Scott lock the post for both of their sake just in case.]

[His voice is calm and he's a bit too serious for a man of his age but he doesn't mind answering all her questions.]

[Put aside your conflicts? No. If Maximus showed his face there, there would be no hold to the qualms she with him whatever this person said.]

I have some experience in management. [Try a kingdom.] Should this be enough?

[The idea of being there long enough made her sick. The idea of resorting to something like hunting bounties... Maybe if she had been there the week before, it could have even been enjoyable. Not without her hair.]

[It was Medusa's first instinct to tell this boy that her business was none of his. Something stopped her though, whether or not it was the fact that he seemed to know her. Either he was the ally he was attempting to be, or some enemy that she would do well enough to keep a close eye on. At least respectful. Either way she took a deep breath.]

I don't know you by either of those names. I don't know of these 'mutants' you speak of either. The last I recall? Maximus had staged a coup. I'll assume you know of him as well? [She touched her hairline again, almost a nervous tic when she mentioned his name, though her expression drew more resolute.

Karnak, myself, and my husband were forced to flee to Earth. Gorgon was already there, searching for Triton. We were...separated. [Stupid dog.]

You say in your world these three peoples coexist? In mine I saw an Inuman girl - one who had never even been to Attilan, who we were attempting to bring back to safety - hunted and gunned down by three human men who considered her a freak.

Whatever you know, even if some of your information on me and mine is correct? Is not what I know.

Maximus?...[Scott frowns slightly, pondering about the name. It's familiar but not all that much.] King Black Bolt's brother? I've heard of him but I can't say I ever meet him in person. I do not know what might have happened to him in my world but last I saw of you and your husband, you were the appointed rulers.

[Maximus's coup and the separation from her family explain Medusas's current state, so that's one mystery solved. The rest, though...]

We live together but don't always see eye to eye. Society as a whole is a complicated animal with the tendency to fear what they don't understand. But there are also good people trying to make things better for everyone.

[Scott's posture straightens a little, wondering if he should tell her that one of his very best friends is an inhuman. Maybe later, Medusa might not believe him now, anyway.]

As I see it, there are two options. Either you are from my same world but we belong to a different point in time, or we are from two universes with similarities. Both things had happened to me before. [Scott had a pretty interesting life.] Besides, the forces that operate in this world are petty, they do things like this.

I think you are the only Inhuman in the city but I might be wrong. This device, the communicator, has listed the names of all the people who received one upon arrival. If you search for specific names in the CPU, you will be able to know for sure if somebody you know is here.

[Fair enough, it's just advice. She's actually the second royal he's given that particular advice to, at that.]

Pretty sure there are businesses in Nova, Attleton and Genessia proper that could use someone with those skills. Nova and Genessia are probably your best bets. For what it's worth, I'm sorry you ended up here, under whatever circumstances. Also about the glasses comment; it was rude of me, even if it was valid.

[She listens attentively through the whole of that - half sure that someone had obviously had the boy doing some public speaking. It was good information to know, some parts of it more useful than others. The most important part came at the end, and she promptly closed out the video.]

[It's only a minute before the video flashes back to life, Medusa working to keep disappointment out of her expression.]

You are correct. [They weren't there.] It's just me.

[The flicker of hope put out, she turned her mind back to the rest of the conversation.]

That is the Maximus of who I speak. Though I assure you it is a matter of time until we are back in our rightful place. Regardless of this... intermission.

Nova has seemed the most fitting from what little I have seen of them.

[It wasn't quite a thank you, but you could read one into it. It was an acknowledgement of the advice being taken in. She hesitated just a moment after his apology.]

Accepted, and I appreciate your condolences as well. What's your name?

[He reads enough of one into it that he doesn't comment on the lack; after all, she did just arrive, and he's been accidentally rude to her besides.]

My name? It's Soma. It's been a pleasure speaking to you, Medusa.

And you, Soma.

[It was a little rote, a little political but it was something. She even gave what could almost be a smile before adding;]

I hope you don't find yourself petrified over any more spike pits.

[He actually managed to coax a smile out of her? Huge success! He'll return it, even if his is a bit wry.]

The way my luck runs that may be a vain hope, but I appreciate the sentiment all the same.

[If only, Medusa. No one taught Scott how to talk in public, this is how he happens to be...too serious for his own good. While other people might be surprised or even slightly offended at how quickly she turned off the video, Scott only blinks and waits. He even offers Madusa a sympathethic look at her disappointment, he knows how hard it is to be alone.]

For now. You might find a way back or they might arrive here too. Sometimes people come to this world in batches. And while we stay here, time freezes in our universes. So if you do get back, things will be exactly as you left them.

In the meantime...some cities here are safer than others. [He hopes she bothers to listen to him because Scott's not sure how much attention Medusa has paid to the information given to her.]

Nova City, Genessia, and Attleton are the closest thing to new Attilan and Earth. Fayren looks like it's stuck in medieval times and there's a lot of magic and magic users in it. All of those cities are still relatively safe, it's not always the same in Everglade. It has its own set of laws, it's home to a lot of dangerous creatures and it's often foggy. I don't recommend wandering around there at night.

[And with that same hint of a smile, she's turning off the video.]
