Playtime! OTA

Betelgeuse had been intrigued by the small, turtle-like creature he had acquired. He spent the last two weeks bonding and training the little guy, though not exactly Pokemon training. Instead, Betelgeuse was training Squirtle to appreciate pranks and the value of scaring people.

Now, however, Betelgeuse just wanted to have some fun.

Betelgeuse found the top of an unimportant building in Genessia City and juiced it to be water-proof. He had Squirtle fill the roof with water, creating a giant swimming pool. Betelgeuse changed his clothes into what he considered a very sharp pair of white and black striped swim trunks. He splashed around, laughing. Squirtle swam around, occasionally shooting out streams of water down on passer-by below, making Betelgeuse laugh even harder.

The only question was who would show up to complain and who would join the party?

Squirtle squealed, as the Mantyke came down at him, trying to backpedal out of the way. Spinning, Betelgeuse sent a pillar of water up, underneath the Dewott, trying to get him out of the game. Laughing, Betelgeuse turned into a jellyfish and headed for Yuri, trying to wrap her in his tentacles.

Yuri's eyes quickly darted back to Dewott, who was thrown up by the pillar of water. She does have some pretty good reflexes, but looking for a jellyfish under water in a rooftop pool made by a Squirtle? Not exactly what she's looking for. So when she suddenly feels tendrils wrapping around her, she immediately jumps at the first sign of being touched, then starts yelling almost immediately.

"Get off of me!"

Honestly, if it's a jellyfish she isn't 100% sure if it's a Pokemon or an honest to god jellyfish with poisonous tentacles that's going to kill her or what. But no one gave her a heads up about Betelgeuse's abilities, really, so it might take her a second to realize that it's him. Not that it's going to stop her from attempting to punch down into the water right into him, regardless of who he is, since she's never really been the type to hold back in terms of violent behavior as an immediate reaction to things.

Because she's mostly a friend, Betelgeuse saved the more lewd groping for someone else/later. Instead, he ran a tentacle ever so lightly across the bottoms of her feet. Breathing types tend to be ticklish there, right? He certainly wasn't put off by a few punches. It was hard to laugh as a jellyfish, but Betelgeuse tried.

It was a good thing that he saved that, as Yuri has a known history of throwing people off of rooftops or letting them fall off of cliffs into a spike pit for crap like that. The tickling, however, merely made her fall over in the water because honestly? She was definitely ticklish on her feet.

And she was also loud. Ridiculously loud. Probably heard for multiple blocks loud.

"STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!"

..Of course it was also punctuated by flailing and laughing, so it lost some of its punch.

Betelgeuse had been dead for ages, but he did remember that mortals needed to breathe. He transformed back into his normal self, making sure he was under her, so he could lift her, if her head went below the water. He wanted to tease her, not kill her.

As soon as he was back to his normal self and Yuri's face was above water again, she tried to hit him in the forehead with the heel of her palm.. That was pretty normal for how she treated friends who she thought could handle it though.

"Hey, I'm trying to stop you drowning!" Betelgeuse protested, grumpily, releasing her. "Living people! Gyah."

Yuri blinked at that comment, as if she'd just remembered that that was an issue.

"Oh, yeah."

She was so used to being dead herself that she just had forgotten that she actually needed to worry about drowning. She couldn't just wash up a few hours later and recover like she could when she was a member of the afterlife.

"Oh. Yeah. That," Betelgeuse teased, shaking his head and moving back a bit. "Good to know one of your weaknesses, babes."

"If you ever exploit it again I'll launch you off the rooftop."

Those words were said in a very even tone, with the smile of someone who just said something incredibly sweet.

"Babes, I'm dead," Betelgeuse said, sighing. "And frankly, that sounds kinda fun. I can fly, you know."

He smiled, shrugging a bit.

"I know you are, I'm not a murderer."

She wouldn't ever kick someone who was alive off of a building unless it was honest self-defense. However...

"Flying isn't fair, I'll have to just keep a knife on me or maybe wait until we're in an enclosed space and lure you into a propulsion engine trap or something.."

Yuri is seriously thinking this through, tapping her finger on her chin and everything.

"Well, yeah, okay," Betelgeuse conceded, laughing. "All's fair in love and war, babes. Knives don't work and, really, babes, do I seem the type who's dumb enough to get caught in an engine? You could try tickling back, nice and basic, know what I mean?"

"What do you mean knives don't work? Are you impenetrable or something?"

She may have had a warped sense of what was ok and what was not ok to do to people who were already dead due to her own experiences in the afterlife. Then again, the people around her would starve themselves for a week if she asked, so there was a level of stupid that went beyond normal levels.

"I don't tickle."

Of course, the reality basically came down to that no one besides Battler really touched her at all without her being the one to make the first move regardless of what the case was. So she honestly wasn't sure what kind of response she was trying to have beyond instinctual tendencies toward hitting things.

"Well, no, ah...okay, look, babes, no, I'm not impenetrable, okay?" Betelgeuse stressed, flailing his hands a bit. "They go in, they penetrate, they just don't do anything, know what I mean? I'm already dead, so what's a knife gonna do? I don't even have blood to spill, hence my pearly complexion!"

Betelgeuse shook his head, feeling out of sorts about the whole thing.

"How does anyone not tickle? That's no fun!"

"It doesn't hurt at all?"

Yuri isn't sure if she's disappointed, frustrated, or relieved. It's honestly a difficult mix that she frequently faces. Her whole behavior could be pretty warped at times.

"I only started openly admitting I even had friends that I cared about a little over a year ago, so tickling was out of the question. Obviously."

"Nah, it doesn't hurt, not much anyways. I mean, I can feel it and tell it happened, but it's not, y'know, agonizing or nothing," Betelgeuse explained, then chuckled. "You can do a lot of tickling in a year, y'know."

"Oh. There's not much point in that then. I'm going to have to get creative with you, huh..."

Yuri wasn't going to go for something painful anymore, but something amusing to her might have to do the trick. At the very least, she was going to have to get creative with how much magic this guy was spilling out of his pores. Still, the tickling bit..

"Well they're all gone, even if I could go back to where I was before this, or from other worlds. So there won't be any tickling and I definitely don't want tickling from anyone here!"

Mostly because she's something of a control freak, at least when it comes to herself.

"Oooo, I like the sound of that, babes," Betelgeuse crooned, waggling his eyebrows.

Possibly that was masochistic of him, given her warnings, but honestly, he just wanted some fun. If that meant starting a prank war or just being used as a guinea pig for finding ways to hurt or embarrass the dead...well, it was a change of pace at least. Right?

"Okay, fair enough, but tickling is awesome. Ya outta be able to find someone you could share tickles with."

"Do you have to eat at all? Bathe? Take vacations? Go shopping? Where do you live?"

Yuri's series of questions were honestly just straight-up investigation so she could start planning her true counter attack. After all, if she couldn't go about punishment the regular way, she'd have to find another way. Making people scream and yell in a friendly terrorizing way tends to be one of her specialties after all.

"I definitely don't want to share tickles with anyone!"

"I don't gotta eat, but beetles are tasty. Um, I think ya have to have a job, in order to take vacations, so that's a no. Shopping? For what and with what? I don't live, babes, I'm dead. I haunt houses, when I feel like being in one," Betelgeuse recited, chuckling.

Betelguese shook his head. People always amazed him. Not wanting to be tickled?

"Well, okay, but are you sure you know what you're missing?"

"When I was dead, we didn't get magic or anything like that. We either had to follow the rules and disappear or rebel, so we ended up stealing everything we needed. But we still needed things, because even though we were dead all it meant was that we couldn't die again. Somehow I feel like your version of dead is totally cheating!"

She didn't sound like she was mad at him or anything, just totally being slightly envious that he gets all those cool abilities.

"I'm going to drug all of the beetles in the city with special... beetle laxatives!"

Okay, it was a horrible idea and probably wouldn't do anything.

"Not anything I would miss!"

"I hate rules," Betelgeuse grumbled. "Your world's afterlife sucks hard, babes. I guess it might be cheating, but I like cheating, so that's cool. Really, though, it sounds more like whoever you had to obey were cheatin' you!"

He laughed, shaking his head at her suggestion.

"Two problems with your beetle plan. One, you told me and now I can avoid the beetles are juice them to be harmless. Two, even if I didn't, I'd just juice the sickness or laxative to one big, quick reaction, like a really long fart or something cool like that. Heh, okay, no tickling for you then. Your loss."

"Me too, but I'm alive now. I have to follow at least some of them or I'll end up dying again."

And that.. isn't something she wants. Not that dead people aren't great, but the cost of what it took to get her alive was greater than she wanted to pay for it to begin with. The cost of losing this life would be a hundred times greater than what was paid to get it, too. Yuri honestly didn't know if she could handle dying again.

"That actually sounds grosser to me than it would be to you."

"Yeah. Sucks to be you," Betelgeuse teased, laughing a bit. "Just kiddin,' babes. Of course you wanna stay alive. S'the way it should be."

Really, as much as Betelgeuse enjoyed his magic...being dead sucked. There was a certain stagnation to death...not to mention being cut off from the living world. The afterlife, in his opinion, was just horrible. Everything was always fresh and being renewed in the living world!

"So, what's wrong with gross?"
