Part 1
[The concept of both Friday the 13th and Halloween were very foreign to Qubine. So when he heads to Attleton to exercise his battle skills at the Coliseum, he had no idea terrible things would be happening.]
[It's nearing sunset when Qubine starts to head back to the archway leading to Fayren. Along the way, he spots a very familiar figure up ahead. A painfully familiar figure. He recognizes it immediately as a Spiral dragon from Sornieth. A closer look reveals that the dragon is covered with slash wounds, but very little blood was coming out. Its eyes were lifeless, expressionless. That's when Qubine recognized it as a dragon recently deceased that has been reanimated. Its scales still had a bit of their light hue before death had turned them into a light gray. There was only one blue Spiral dragon in Qubine's clan that had died, one of his own sons.]
Gaheris...?
[Qubine lowers his stance as if to pounce on the creature as he cautiously moves closer. Only then did he begin to notice other details. The reanimated dragon was adorned with dark silks dotted with silver glitter. Qubine paused, his heart skipping a beat. The Spiral dragon lifted its head to look in his direction. Qubine spotted the one thing that confirmed the identity of this dragon - the diamond talonclasp pendant that he had gifted her with during the plague. It wasn't his son, it was...it was...]
[Qubine began to back away, his breaths becoming rapid and heavy.]
Oh no...no...Shayla...? Not you...please, not you...
[Not Shayla...anyone but her... Qubine freezes, paralyzed at the sight of the love of his life in such a gruesome state. His first desire was to send her back to her grave...but he can't bring himself to strike her down. Shayla shambles towards him, dragging her long thin body on the ground, almost like a snake. But when the sun's final rays sink beneath the city skyline, everything changes. Shayla lets out a feral scream as she rushes at Qubine, swiping at him with her claws. Taken by surprise, Qubine endures a slash in his forearm before running away. She chases him all over the city before Qubine runs through an archway, which he thought would take him to Fayren...]
Part 2
[Instead, he finds himself in Genessia City. Various monsters have begun to appear and attack the first person they see. Qubine blinks at the spectacle until the monsters start coming for him. With his rage fresh from what he'd seen in Attleton, he lets out a pained roar before fighting back. From there, he rushes throughout the city, slashing at the monsters within reach, although he pays particular attention to the zombies, tearing them apart. Each time he pauses to catch his rasping breath, he screams out his lover's name, his cry loud enough to echo throughout the city.]
Shaylaaaa!
Part 3
[Near the end of the week, Qubine realizes what he must do. Since he had failed to save Shayla's life, the only thing he could do was return her to rest. He returns to Attleton, his heart already aching all over again as he searches for her.]
...Shayla...?
[As he came to realize that Shayla only runs at night, Qubine faces her during the day to make the task only slightly easier. It doesn't take long for her to reappear after he enters the city. When she spots him, she crawls over to him, obviously lacking the grace she had when she was alive. But rather than attack as she had before, she begins to crawl over him, coiling her snake-like body around him. Now that was something she did in life, and it confuses Qubine beyond words. She nuzzles her face against his oh so gently for a moment.]
[For a few moments, Qubine's resolve falters. This is all he wanted, his beautiful partner soothing him after a hard day of hunting, scavenging, or combat. The one dragon he could trust with most anything.]
[But this isn't Shayla.]
Shayla...I'm sorry...I must release you.
[He grabs her with a paw and slams her down on the ground in front of him and then uses his claws to rend her scales. He closes his eyes, not daring to look at her becoming more and more unrecognizable as he slashes, slashes, and slashes some more. Finally, he stops, getting a peek at her lifeless form. But then something strange happens - the body disappears. Qubine blinks at the empty spot. Was he being tricked? Had this form of Shayla been a fake the whole time? Whether it was or not, the sorrow Qubine feels right now is very much real. How dare they...how dare they mess with him like this. He's shaking from head to tail at this point, looking like he's about to cry. But he doesn't cry. Instead, he inhales deeply and lets out a piercing roar into the heavens, filled to the edges with grief.]
[OOC: All three parts are OTA. Just let me know which part you're tagging into, especially for the Attleton parts.]

Part 2
no subject
[But then the high-pitched screech got his attention, and his head snapped over in Rapunzel's direction. He begins to move slowly towards her to get a closer look. Fortunately, his rage isn't 100% blind, as he's able to recognize Rapunzel as A) not a monster, and B) someone he had spoken to recently through the devices. She, like many others, tried to claim that necromancy wasn't a bad thing, since the bodies were no longer being used. How is necromancy not a bad thing? Look what it did to Shayla. And look what it did for Qubine's current mental and emotional state.]
[Qubine tilts his head as he regards the little human. She doesn't appear to be fighting the monsters either.]
What are you doing?
[He hisses at her, his tone not particularly pleasant, but at least he's not outright yelling...or roaring, however a human would perceive it...]
no subject
[Once she was sure he wasn't going to accidentally hurt her she slowly lowered herself. As soon as her feet touched the floor she decided to speak again and maybe explaining things a little bit more.]
I was seeing what I could do next from a high vantage point, that's all.
