Everglade's Mysterious Vigilante Appears! Crime? Mr. Snuffles Snuffs it Out!
A recent new vigilante has shown up and basically accused anyone who isn't him of not taking care of the city, even though there are a few key points that he seemed to have missed.
1. Fai's actions actually resulted in the changes to the laws in Everglade that now give humans a right to defend themselves just as much as non-humans have a right to hunt for food. Sure, he probably didn't plan on the criminals all being let go, but that's another matter entirely. Half of them shouldn't have been in there in the first place.
2. Non-humans do have rights too, and many of them are incapable of eating foods that aren't human. No one would be mad if human beings were mass-hunting sentient chickens and humans would be complaining if they weren't allowed to because the only thing else to eat were foods that were poisonous to them, like that bad part of the blowfish.
3. The barrier will go down if everything is safe and happy and hunkydory in Everglade, so lol get over it it's a couple of people who are a part of the food chain or everyone here.
4. Anyone talking like that past the sixth grade is either really really dumb or has some kind of disorder where they can't grow up and has no business fighting crime.
5. About the crimespree: The majority of the crime in Everglade after the release is likely due to a small portion of the city's criminals who are very loud and obnoxious and can't keep their urges in their pants for 20 minutes, not all of the criminals. In fact, the majority of the imprisoned in Everglade were actually victims of the previous Guardian's anti-necromancy laws and then self-defenses cases from the curfew. The others are what bounty hunters are for, there's no need for vigilantism. In fact, I'm 99% sure it's just as illegal. Oops, Mr. Snuffles.
As you can see, chances are that the new vigilante is more into making snuff films of non-humans than actual justice. Couple that with his known speech patterns and demeanor, Mr. Snuffles is the only appropriate name. He's been officially registered as a bounty under that name in Everglade. Watch out, Genessia! Don't let Mr. Snuffles snuff your sense of justice out!
Encounter with the Everglade vigilante
To be honest, I'm not even sure why I'm writing this. This is honestly one of the most traumatic things I've ever gone through. I guess it's because I hope that somehow, it helps catch this sicko
To start out, me and my friend are both werewolves. Yes, that means we can eat humans, but we never did. We knew it was wrong, and never acted on the impulse. Sometimes we teased or made threats but it was just to scare people or joke around, you know? By now everyone knows Everglade's barrier is built on fear, and I guess we thought we were helping out.
That night we were in a pretty secluded alleyway. He'd just got off work and we were walking home, shooting the breeze. I asked him where he wanted to eat, and he made some bad joke like "how about the orphanage?" or something. Around that time, we both sensed something, or someone. Werewolf senses are really acute, but even then, it was faint.
We kept walking, when suddenly, my friend just fell over. Before I could even turn around to see what was wrong, I heard this sickening snapping noise. His jaw was ripped right off his face. Then I heard this voice, this childish, mocking voice. It said, "If ya can't use yer mouth properly, maybe ya shouldn't use it at all!"
I didn't see him. I couldn't even smell him. I couldn't even move. I tried to get away, but somehow I was paralyzed. Apparently this psycho overheard our conversation, and took it to heart. Then I heard this scraping sound, and my eyes, the only part of me I could move, saw my friend's flesh being scraped off his bones.
Then he started talking to me. I don't remember what he said, but it was something like "so you monsters think it's funny to eat people, huh? Or maybe you think you have to to survive? Let's test that." Then I felt something really sharp point into my throat. It drew blood the moment it touched me, but I still couldn't see the weapon or the guy holding it. Then he laid out the rules for his sick game.
"Here's the deal: I'm gonna feed you yer friend, okie-dokie? And if you don't eat every last bite, I'll kill ya. In other words, you have to eat another person to survive. Should be easy for ya, right?"
I wish he were joking. He wasn't. Something grabbed my jaw and forced it open, and he shoved the pieces of my friend he took off into my mouth. I tried to resist, but it was useless. I don't know how, but he worked my body like a puppet. He moved my jaw, massaged my throat, and everything other torturous thing you can imagine to make me eat the guy I'd known since college.
I tried to scream, or spit it out, or run, but my body only moved when he wanted it to. Worse, he kept talking in that horrible voice, saying these twisted things like "down the hatch" or "choo choo", or "if you don't eat your dinner, you won't get dessert!" He scooped out my friend's eyeballs and shoved them towards mine.
The only relief I got was when I threw up. Then I could actually start talking. I begged him to stop, then tried to scream, but before I finished my mouth locked up again. He took my vomit, made me eat that too, and kept going.
I don't know how long this lasted. Five, maybe ten minutes, but it felt like an eternity of hell. When it was over with, all I could move were my eyes. He said, "So, how did that feel? Not so funny, huh? Maybe you'll think twice before you laugh at the idea of eating people." I still couldn't see him, but I heard a noise like lifting a tablecloth, and could tell he was gone. My friend vanished with him. A few minutes later I could move, but I didn't see a single trace. No blood, no fur, nothing. It was like he was never there. I threw up again in the nearest garbage can, then ran as fast as I could.
I can't begin to describe the shame. The pure revulsion I felt as I was forced to do something I'll never live down. The horror, wondering when this guy would kill me too. But I guess that would've been a mercy, letting me die. Truth be told, suicide is looking pretty tempting after all that.
I guess he wanted to make a point. Please, Guardians, anyone, stop this vigilante. I've lived in Everglade my entire life, and I've never seen anything as demented as what I had to live through. I'm begging you, bring him in before he hurts anyone else.
Summer’s End
Summer is coming to an end in just a few short weeks. So stores are already starting up their Summer Sales. If you are interested in getting some summer clothes that might have been too expensive for you previously, not is the time to hit the stores!
Some stores have already gotten a jump on their Fall clothing as well. So be sure to prepare for the coming season. This year might be a particularly cold one. The polar opposite of the warm Summer that we just had.
Culinary Decimation
The Chicken Lounge in Nova City is now under new management. It has been reported that Ryo Kurokiba, owner of Nakiba, challenged the Chicken Lounge to a contest where the business itself was wagered. The workers of the Lounge served as judges and after putting his own dish up against theirs, Ryo’s came out on top.
When interviewed after the battle, asking what they were going to do with it, Ryo simply stated that he believes Alice Nakiri might want to use the restaurant space for storage. Ryo himself seemed completely disinterested in answering any further questions and continued on his way.
Alice Nakiri along with Ryo Kurokiba are both chefs at Nakiba. Their food is critically acclaimed and they are viewed as the top restaurant in Nova City. And likely other ones as well.

Casting - A serial killer has been kidnapping people and murdering them by coating their bodies in liquid metal. Once it hardens, he puts their bodies on display somewhere in the city. A level 3 payment is being offered for their capture.

Stoned - A hellish creature has killed several people over the last few days by turning them into stone. It's unknown how it accomplishes this, but a level 2 payment is being offered to anyone that can stop it.

It was advertised as a bounty in the newspaper the other day. Mages claiming to be imbued with the powers of Deities have been running amok in Fayren, known as the Obsidian Tribe. Of course, Jade thinks they must be weak.
While, Jade has no problem fighting alone, but better to be safe than sorry, he's looking for at least one to join as party.
"Good evening. I haven't catch your name the last time, but if you would like to join me to hunt these mages, we'll split up the bounty and then part ways." He said with a smile. "It looks like easy money, I'll say."

Tsukihito turns his gaze away from he self-proclaimed scientist as he quietly ponders about their target. It seems that a clergy of mages known as "The Obsidian Tribe" are causing quite ruckus in Fayren as of late. These mages claim to be bestowed with the powers of ancient deities native to these foreign lands. If it hadn't been for that bit of information regarding their bounty, Tsukihito wouldn't have signed his name to the contract.
Since arriving here in Fayren, the Moon God has been seeking a way to amplify his power. What better way to do so rather than steal the power of another? Tsukihito is full aware that their target is wanted 'alive' rather than 'dead' but the beast within him is yearning for blood.
"Ah, I am Yukimura Tsukihito. 'Tis a pleasure to meet you in person." He says with a deep bow. The humility is no act on his part. Tsukihito might as well make nice with this researcher if he means to earn his reward. The money will be put aside for provisions if nothing else. Despite being a divine, Tsukihito realizes that his current form is indeed mortal.
Food is necessary and the same could be said for proper lodgings.

Pushing his glasses up, "Now remember, we're suppose to capture them and arrest them in order to get the money." He said. "I heard murder and killing is looked down upon. But I can't guarantee that accidents on the job do happen."
Make nice translate to, just temporary but meaningful cooperate as a team. And it's no big deal, if anything, they're just colleagues working for money. Only business~."
And anyway, it's a win-win. Capture the bad guys, keeps the citizens safe, get cash quick. But Jade's intention in contrast to the fox, is more genuine as he did so to protect the citizens.
"Well then, shall we?" And off they go for the hunt.

"There will be no accidents. The mage will be defeated and arrested as promised." The kitsune says curtly. "I wish not to lose the people's admiration all due to our carelessness." More like his carelessness if anything but Jade doesn't need to know that. He'll never live down the shame if such was to occur. This is why he grips the hilt of the Ame-no-Ohabari so tightly now. May the 'Sword of Takamagahara' guide him in his virtuous endeavors from here on out.
Life within this strange realm is bound to be challenging.

Jade cares to know, but wouldn't pry unless the fox deity would care to speak it. It's challenge because it requires the deity to cooperate with mortals, much to his discomfort.
"Let see, according to the paper: Elyon preferred to sink small villages into the ground to cleanse a territory. Well, we'll just follow a trail of any destroyed villages that sank in a hole, then."

He watches the scientist from the corner of his eyes with muted approval. Out of all the mortals he's met so far, Jade is definitely the most polite of them all. The rest have all been quite rude to the fox deity, enough to make Tsukihito question if he should deal with mortals at all. A loner by nature, Tsukuyomi is just going to have to get over his own ego and cooperate.
"A reasonable deduction." Tsukihito says with a pleasant enough smile. "Do we have the location of the last village sunk by Elyon?" He asks while fingering the hilt of his sword slightly. Depending on the distance, it might be unwise to trek this journey on foot. Tsukihito certainly has a method of transportation that could possibly help them both.

Fayren isn't a technology advanced city, and horses and carriages is a preferred mode of transport. Jade came from a world where magic fueled the vehicles and ships, but some people used horses. The only advantage being in Fayren? The land forever those imbued with magical powers and the land has a more nature and natural feel, which Jade rather liked.
