WHAT: Battler has something he wants to say!!!

[after his conversation with lucy, there was something very important he wanted to ask. lucy was his friend, someone he already found to be very special, he wanted to sort out a big issue here!! love is a fragile thing, a heart cannot be tampered with, these are things he really believes in!

SO! it had taken him a couple days since talking with her, but he was going to ask a certain natsu some questions. he knew there might be others in this place that would hear him, but he didn't care! this was essential!! this is all for a lovely maiden!

when battler arrived on the scene, he didn't bother knocking (and he ignored the hole in the wall) so he simply opened the doors with an epic push. he walked in, pointed and if someone really listened they might be able to hear his theme music start playing.

....okay maybe not that, but hey it would be cool.]

Stop, stooooppppp!! I have something I need to ask, I need to talk to Natsu-san! Everyone, listen uuuuppp! This is a very serious matter which cannot be ignored!

[He's starting to think this guy might be out for a spar.]

[battler looks at him daringly...!!]

[he takes a step, pointing at him once more!!] Sleeping with Lucy-san?!

[Daring or not, this guy is acting like a clown and Natsu is not impressed. The question that should have sent anyone and especially Lucy, into a flailing mess, barely so much as dinged off of Natsu.]

Yeah though not as often now since Erza is making it harder to sneak into her room.

I knew iiiiit! Now then... the real question remains... do you love her? Are you in love with her....? Someone as great as Lucy-san needs someone that would love her completely and fully!

A woman's innocence shouldn't be taken without a care!

[This guy...what the hell is he going on about it. However his cheeks do light up faintly and he suddenly gets defensive before turning that into apprehension.]

[Uh oh. He's getting riled up.]

[battler stops yelling at natsu, a gentle smile replaces his earlier expression.]

...That you really do have feelings for her, and they're proper. I don't want to see anyone get hurt in the name of love, so I had to ask you what your intentions with her really are.

[Funny he mentions fire since that's what bursts around his hands before Battler mentions something about being Lucy's friend. Which immediately means he can't punch this guy's lights out for snooping around.]

Ghk. You damn...

[Wait when did Love come into play in this? Anger gives way to confusion before he manages to cling to the one part he had an answer to.]

My intentions? They're the same as always. Keep her happy and safe no matter what. I still don't think that's any of your damn business though.

Ihihhi~! A good answer! And it is my business, because if a man and a woman are sleeping in the same bed.... and one is my friend... I need to find out just what's going on here!

[battler places his hands in his pockets, looking oh so confident.]

Natsu-san.... I'm being totally serious here, do you love Lucy-san? Because keeping a woman waiting... take it from someone that knows more than anyone, it's ridiculously painful for them. And you want to keep her safe, so protect her feelings as well.

[That look. That smug confident grin. Battler is lucky he announced himself as Lucy's friend or Natsu would have handed his ass to him by now.

And then he decides to touch upon a topic that has been plaguing him even before arriving in Genessia. Which is why unless Battler Dodges his hand, he's going for find his face pulled in awfully close.]

[good thing battler is far too nice for his own good, he would have let natsu beat him up if it meant getting through to him. and he lets himself be grabbed too! suddenly oh so close to natsu and being pulled down to his height. it was difficult being 5'11 sometimes with certain individuals...]

When and where, then? I'm stubborn, I won't give in.

Back Garden. Right now.

[He lets go with a growl and stalked off towards the door next by the bar that led to it.]

[oooh someone's mad!

...but battler figures there must be something huge going on, he's curious for sure. so the redhead walks behind him, hands still in his pockets as he stares at his back.]

[Yes someone's mad. Those matters are something he's been keeping in his head for over a year. The last thing he wants is to have them spilled in front of the whole guild and whoever else was there at the time.

Natsu keeps walking until they reach a tall tree at the edge of the garden. It's far enough from the guild that even Wendy or Gajeel could hear their conversation. Unless Natsu started yelling which he still might depending.]

This should be good enough.

[battler's smile had lost its strength somewhere along the way, and he figured he should be taking this very seriously. he stares at natsu, slowly nodding.]

Go ahead Natsu-san, say what you have to, I'm listening.

[He runs his hand through his hair with frustration before growling out a warning.]

This doesn't conversation doesn't leave this tree. Got it? I don't want things to get awkward all over again.

...I don't know you very well yet, but I'm willing to be your friend if you'd let me. So of course, I promise not to say a word. I just need to know.

After that entrance you'll have to understand I ain't that convinced. But if you do blabber about this stuff too then I will kick your ass to the moon and back.

[Natsu will likely follow through somehow.]

Look. I don't know myself. This whole love thing isn't something I've ever thought about. All I know is that she...has this weird effect on me. Like just being with her makes me happy and seeing her cry or hurt makes me want to destroy whatever made her feel that way.

[And he's already done that. More than once.]

Mm...

[battler nods to himself at that, cupping his own chin as though he were deep in thought.]

Love is.... difficult. It can be painful but it can also be very rewarding. I would like to think I'm an expert on the topic, but even then it's so hard to determine what love really is. The best way to describe it would be....

... everything is filled with much more color. You feel more alive, you feel the need to be with them night and day, and you want nothing more than their happiness before your own.

If that's how you feel about Lucy-san, that's love.

[For an expert he was awfully vague. But he's having a hard time denying anything that's said.]

Is it really? I always thought you were supposed to care like that for your partner. Someone who you could trust in a fight with your back. But she...she's much more than that. She's a weirdo who overreacts about the smallest little thing. If this was really love what would that do? I don't...wanna end up making her awkward and pushing her away.

[That's most likely his biggest fear.]

...I'm going to tell you a little story, Natsu-san.

[okay, deep breath.]

Before being in Genessia.... I was back in my world. There was something called the community, it would call out to you and interrupt you at the worst of times. You could talk with people from different worlds too, much like here. In any case, I met someone while I was... fighting my own demons.

I fell for her, I had a massive crush on her, and no matter what I did she just kept pushing me away. I would joke around with her about it but she never wanted anything to do with me.... she said it was complicated. After all, she was dead and I was alive. She was in the afterlife and I was in purgatory. It took me about two years, according to the community at least since time never moved for either of us, to convince her that love is worth the risk. And I still stand by all of that. She's here in Genessia now, and I'll never stop loving her with all of my heart either.

And trust me, a girl letting a guy sleep in her bed and being comfortable about it wouldn't be awkward about becoming more. I had briefly talked with Lucy-san about this too, and while she said you two were just friends.... I could tell. The way she talked about you, it was in such a fond manner that there was no way she didn't love you either.

[That is quite the story indeed and surprisingly enough he manages to follow it all the way through. However before he can give his own take on what he learned the topic of him sleeping in Lucy's bed comes up.]

But it's just sleeping. Not like anything else like kissing happened. We do that when we're awake.

[.......... god DAMMIT natsu!!]

[serious expression gone, battler laughs so hard about that.]

Aaahh are you seerriiouuuus?! You're more stubborn than me! You love her and she loves you, so don't deny it already!

[He just said he didn't know. Not the same thing. Though he did just blurt that out a bit too quickly.]

But she hasn't said anything.

[And on that argument, his mood dims a bit more. If she did love him why didn't she say anything?]

...Ah? Oh that.

[THAT'S SIMPLE.] Every girl wants to be treated like a total princess! You know, be completely nice to them, make the feel special- because they are! And they're waiting for the guy to do it!

Become her shining knight in armor and sweep her off her feet! Don't be afraid...!

...that doesn't sound like Lucy's style at all. She left the life of a princess to come to Fairy Tail and work with us like any other mage. Back home she makes a fuss about her rent all the time and gets angry with me for blowing stuff up and getting the reward money taken down a peg or two to pay for the damage. She's no Princess and I'm no damn stuck up prince. Dragons are more awesome anyway.
