Video to Friends of the Doctors (backdated to 10/12 before event)
[The video starts on the Doctor, wearing that brown fedora given him by River (although it makes him look less like a rugged manly-man archaeologist, or even a curly-headed grinning maniac, and more like a nerdy teenager from the 1930s who wants to grow up to be a hard-boiled reporter), apparently in the singing meadow. As whimsical and silly as he looks (which is nothing new to those who know him), his expression is one of those half-serious faces which a few people in particular (Amy, Rory, River, his older self) know means he might actually be at his most serious.]
Got something to talk to you lot about, something important, important to me, and I'd like to think to all of you, as well. It's not a reproach, but a warning, try to bear that in mind.
[He pauses a tick, glancing downward, then back at the camera--then tilts its view downward, to his either passed out or very-well-faking-it previous incarnation. He keeps narrating as he goes, holding the camera there for a couple of seconds before turning it back to himself.]
...he'll be all right in a bit, defense against psychic trauma, Time Lord thing, well, lots of telepathic species have them, sort of like how your human immune system sometimes encapsulates pathogens, rather than destroying them or filt'ring them out, but telepathic instead of organic. Harmful memories, ideas, whatever you can't process, they get sealed off, locked in a box in a cupboard in an attic in a house you stay away from. Some of you know exactly what I mean.
[Which, really, in this case, mostly means his future self; or his younger self, if he watches this, later.]
I'm telling all of you 'bout this, because I think we all know what's been causing him problems. ...well, me, but that me, down there.
[He twists the camera again to indicate his younger self, then back to himself once again.]
Bringing back those memories can only make it worse than it already was--enough clues, and he might unlock that box, and--whew--all the troubles come out all at once, so, when I say foreknowledge is dangerous, I don't mean only because it risks paradoxes. I mean because we rarely understand it, and often we can't do anything about it, even without a paradox, even without a fixed point, sometimes there just isn't a better choice.
[A brief rhetorical pause, there.]
So, what's this mean, it means no more spoilers for Sandshoes, and it means you lot are going to have to be careful about what you tell him. It's hard, yeah, I know, been doing it for a while, but if you care about this face-
[He gives the camera another quick tilt downward to his younger self...]
-or about this face-
[...then back up to himself again.]
-I trust you all to find a way. You need to talk to someone, talk to me, pretty sure I'm from after all of you in my timeline, well... almost all, obviously. Let me know if you've got questions, complaints, doubts, all that sort of thing.

[It's one of those bittersweet smiles, still, although he raises his eyebrows a little.]
And I know, Amy... I know. And you know that I trust you.
[After all, they've both long since done Lake Silencio--both the before and the after. In retrospect, he has a good idea how she must have been struggling, from a couple of comments she let slip, from her reactions to certain passing comments of his own; he also knows she remembers convincing him to leap blindly into the Space 1969 Affair against his better judgment, on her word alone.]
You need me to help, or River--she's got plenty of practice--don't hesitate to ask.

[Still, she wasn't sure if she was strong enough for this. Follow the Doctor chasing after invisible monsters? Sure. Asylum of the Daleks, bring it on. Keeping secrets that MUST be kept... from the Doctor?]
no subject
Well... good. ...sorry, I know it's not how you'd have wanted things to be.

no subject
...oh, I don't know, a little coaching and you might be just fine.

[She took a deep breath.]
"I've been so happy here... You, all of you, Rory, River.... The Tardis is here, meeting other companions from the past, wondering who else is going to show up... I guess I should have realized that as happy as I could be, things could get just as bad here as anywhere. But... it's our job to fix them, right? Me and my boys."
no subject
...oh, Amy... nowhere's perfect.
[He raises his eyebrows, smiling a bit more playfully.]
I mean, think how crowded it'd get, no, ev'ry rose has its thorns, some more than others.
[A glance to the side, at that, because that that conversation...]
But what you said's still true, chance to see those we'd never had got to again, well, not a bad compensation, is it.
Locked
"I can deal with crowded, why I was asking younger you for help with the house. Trying to make more space for us." [She didn't want to think about roses and thorns till she found out what was going on with Rose. Infact....]
[She locked the call.]
"Do you think that Rose has been replaced?" [she asked softly.] "Remember the first Gangers we met, how that one woman, her Ganger started acting different, started trying to hurt people? What if Rose is Flesh?"
Locked
Ahh, if only it was that easy...
[Wouldn't it be nice if only fakes and duplicates wore a familiar face while doing something a bit disappointing?]
...I think... she's having a hard time of it, herself, in her own way. Not sure why she's taking it as far as she is, but, well, doesn't take a Flesh avatar to get a bit off the rails, should've seen me the second time I had curls.
Re: Locked
[She needed to call Jack. She had a feeling he would know if it were possible that Rose was pregnant. If she was.... Amy shuddered.]
[What if Kovarian was here too?]
Locked
[In other words, let's hit the brakes on tearing into his other friends, Amy What's-The-Point-Of-You-Then Pond. The Doctor smiles a bit wryly, although from his expression the point's clearly just to discourage any more getting carried away.]
...one of the worst things you can do to someone's to... disappoint them, not be as much as they want to believe you are, and Rose is... disappointed.
[He's pretty sure there are also things Rose just flat-out doesn't understand, and she's always been more likely to get cross and punchy about confusion rather than
demandask that Doctor explain what's going on, like some people... but he really doesn't want to turn it into a "haha Rose just ~doesn't get it~" conversation.]Re: Locked
"But two things. One... nothing you could ever do EVER to any of us to dissapoint us THAT much. This doesn't look like lashing out one night. this looks like a building pattern, like if someone was going off strength more and more as she got stronger. Second of all? The Rose I met when I arrived here... If she saw you, any of you, hurt? The first thing she would do is find out who hurt you and stop them. Instead... you saw her response to you here. That's not Rose, it can't be. Not unless something has happened to her. Like...brain worms or something."
Re: Locked
[Never mind that it's an actual thing he's encountered, but that's not quite what she means.]
Re: Locked
"You have to admit, we've seen weirder."
[A check that this WAS actually locked, then a grin.]
"Besides, she can keep seperate who knows what when even better than you can and is never actually late for anything. If that's not a time-head, what would you call it?" [Grin.]
Re: Locked
[He'd really just meant to tease Amy about making up medical problems, but he really does have some powerfully mixed feelings about the actual topic, there. Everything that happened on Demons Run, his relationship to River and whatever exactly she is, not to mention her relationship to time...
Of course, he just smiles enigmatically through all that.]
...point is, it can always be something simpler, or, depending on how you look at it, vastly more complicated.
