♕ A King's 1st Blood ♕ [Accidental Video]

[The video clicks and the feed begins with a quick red haze passing through it. It's hard to identify what it was since it was now deep within the owner's pocket. The feed appears to be in someone's pocket and had a clear view of Genessia Hospital's emergency ward. Right beside the owner was an old woman whom was slowly coming to her senses. If she wasn't in the emergency room, one would doubt that she was ill in the first place - because she looked perfectly healthy.]

Thank you, young man.. I mean doctor. I've never been better. I need to show you my appreciation!

There's no need for it.

But there is! I was half-beaten to death by those thugs who stole my money. But with your care, I don't even have a single wound or bruise in me. I wish I could pay you, but I have nothing of value left. Thank you, Doctor.

It doesn't matter. I'll have you discharged by daybreak.

[The woman still sounded frail but looked upon the doctor with great appreciation in her features. The doctor on the other hand sounded professional if not indifferent and cold. If only this woman knew that in exchange for healing her completely, he took some of her blood. Happily, the bandages that remained on her body, however small, hid the puncture marks well.]

[It was a few minutes before daybreak. The doctor seemed to be filing the necessary paperwork to discharge most of his patients. In front of him was the head nurse for the night shift.]

Doctor Duzell, time to leave?

Yes. Endorse the rest of my patients to you know who.

[The head nurse seemed to find this amusing. In fact, he was laughing so hard. Duzell didn't mind him so much, since its mostly just the two of them watching over the hospital during night time, them and a few other nurses and lab technicians. Admittedly in the beginning, he found his cheery disposition to be too irritating. Though as the weeks passed by, he got used to it. He reminded Duzell of Yuujel.

Though Duzell did his best to handle all the priority patients for the evening, he always endorsed the rest of his patients to the same person. Not that he didn't think the other doctors were capable. Also, he could have finished all his patients for the evening since the job was relatively easy, but he was too lazy for that, and she knows it.]

Doctor Ishtar will throw a fit again! You should have seen her when you endorsed 30 patients all in one morning.

Really?

She had her hands full and no doctor could touch the patients and help her because of your endorsement! She wasn't exactly happy about it.

[Clearly this amused him to no end. His face did not show it, but he was certainly pleased with his actions. Perhaps this place was not as boring as he initially thought. In any case, this is all Ishtar's fault. Forcing him to work was a ridiculous idea. Where does she get the guts to tell a Vampire King he should work to earn money for rent? Sure she was the Princess of Pheliosta but he was still the Vampire King, Duzell. Wasn't she the one who was supposed to be providing for him? At least, that was their set-up back in their kingdom. He does everything else while she makes sure he has a cozy lifestyle. It wasn't set in stone, but that was how it was in the castle and Duzell got used to that.

Shortly after the nurse spoke, Duzell noticed that his communicator was blinking. Before the feed ends, it gives everyone a glimpse of Duzell's immaculate features, his long and shiny white hair and his hauntingly beautiful red eyes.]

[Duzell sighed upon hearing that. Sometimes Ishtar often joked about serious matters which left a bad taste in his mouth. If it were him before he met Ishtar, he'd laugh it off and probably volunteer to end her misery permanently. But now, he found protecting Ishtar as one of his most valued priorities. So he didn't look too kindly at her complaints.]

[He slowly walked towards her. She really did look tired, but perhaps it was simply the routine. He watched Ishtar fall on her back to rest a bit. He looked at her curiously. His hands clasped together, and his back hunched to meet her gaze. He didn't relent with his dauntless expression.]

As they should be. Even children can get passing marks on those exams.

[ Ishtar just shrugged her shoulders and stretched like a cat for a moment longer before pulling herself on her feet. She might as well go restock all the things she needed to restock since the hospital ran out of things here and there and needed things from the lower floors.

She looked up at him as he hunched over to meet her gaze. That was always a bit too close for comfort but Ishtar got used to him invading her personal space most of the time. The guy walks around naked when they're alone and sleeps next to her as a cat. It could't get anymore personal than this. ]

H-Hey. I'm trying okay. I never had a reason to get serious about that stuff, but you know a lot of things happened and I do want to work harder.

And you never considered being a Princess to a nation, something serious?

[He would actually yawn right now, if it wasn't too rude. The distance between them was too small for that. Duzell was up all night with his rounds and he wanted nothing else but to continue his nap. If only he could turn into a kyawl form right now so that he can rest on Ishtar's lap. Instead, he sits closely beside her with his body barely touching the backrest of his chair.]

There's a Pizzeria 3 blocks from our apartment. The smell is intriguing and I've never tried it. I don't mind if you treat me to some of their offerings.

That as the past you know? I learned a lot of things since then. I mean it.

[ She looked at him seriously as she said that. ] Please, said the guy that wanted to destroy Phelios' Kingdom. If you kill his reincarnation, you'll be a happy king won't you?

[ She half joked to him as he said that to her. Ishtar was leaning back a bit but keeping her eye on him as she always did, unfazed by the fact that he was extremely close to her face again. She watched as he sat beside her, sleepy. He was right though. Vampires like him don't die in the sun but they still get tired. ]

...You want to eat pizza?

[ Ishtar almost chuckled her lungs out. ]

Sure Duzie.

[ He'll get a big hug for that. ]

I'll just have to see the change for myself then.

[He gave her a flat expression and answered without even thinking twice about his answer.] Of course I would. I'd kill him in a heartbeat. If he showed up here, I'll end him quickly or in a manner that will suit my satisfaction.

[Then she suddenly hugged him. Out in the open. Where nurses, medical staff, patients and orderly could see them. He tried to give them all menacing looks, but he couldn't deny the warmth of his cheeks which he was pretty sure everyone had noticed upon the contact.]

Will you behave yourself!

[He looked at her with a menacing glare. He should clearly push Ishtar away. He should disappear on spot. And yet something about that hug made Duzie stay and uncharacteristically move closer to that hug. He badly wanted to push her away because he didn't want everyone to see him this close to her. And yet, he couldn't pull away because he wanted this. He always loved her embrace. And a tiny part of him was happy that other people could see how important his existence is to her.]

Of course, I'll show you what i'm capable of I promise.

[ She replied giving the vampire a huge grin as he looked at her flatly. She didn't say anything other then that. She was happy for seeing him again and seeing that he was unscathed and mostly well if not for the sunlight that was making him drowsy. ]

I am behaving myself. You're not embarrassed are you?

[ She giggles as she hugs him even tighter for that comment. It was that he was important to her that she could do this. She missed Darres a lot but her emotions were always so confusing now. She didn't know what to feel about him and she didn't want to ask him unnecessary things. She didn't want to lose her family again. Falan was with her and now Duzie as well. ]

[He struggled to even nod at her words. He wanted disappear right now. Though, not really, he always enjoyed Ishtar's warm embraces. But he didn't need all the hospital staff and patients to see Ishtar clinging to him like this. What if people thought they were lovers?

Then again, what was so wrong if people saw them as lovers? It wasn't like Darres was here right now to argue against it. He'd lie if he'd say he never wanted Ishtar to see him the same way she saw Darres. But for now, this was wrong.]

People are staring. Behave yourself, Princess.

[It was difficult to keep a stern voice as he warned Ishtar when her body was pressed so closely to his. It used to be alright when she hugged him before, because he didn't know he had feelings for her back then. Now, it made it so hard for Duzell to keep that reddening away from his cheeks. If only he could kill everyone inside the emergency room, it would make things easier for Duzell.

But for now, they must escape this crowd. Because he knew that Ishtar will chew on him if he killed everyone out of embarrassment. Not that he'd let her stop him.]

Can we go now?

[ Ishtar just cuddled him more than usual and finally lets him go after a few minutes. Ishtar didn't care what people think because he was precious to her. She wouldn't even explain it anymore. IT's whatever people wanted to assume, she supposed. She and Duzell knew the truth at least.

She chuckles. ]

Let them stare. I'm so tired of caring what others thing.

[ She shrugged falling back and not hanging to him anymore but she was amused. ]

One more thing a we're good.

[If only Duzell could hide his face, he would. But he didn't want to push Ishtar as well, because that would embarrass her. Better him than her. So he just had to endure. His head falling defeated on her shoulders. If he didn't care for the people staring, this would actually be nice. Ishtar was so warm and her cuddles felt nice. It made Duzell feel safe, as always.]

People might think I'm your lover...

[He whispered with his brows furrowing slightly. No. That was a dangerous assumption. He could not assume such things. He can't assume such a wonderful state of being - he can't let himself assume that he could ever be a replacement for Darres.

When she pulled away, he instantly looked at everyone with a deadly glare. Which happily made them all go back to their stations.]

What is it?

[ Ishtar wouldn't let him do that but she knew how he was so she didn't say anything as she hugged him. It would be weird if she told him the truth, that she knew of his feelings for her and that she had wavered a little on her own feelings towards Darres. It was also that she wasn't the real Ishtar. It didn't make sense to be with Darres if she wasn't even Ishtar to begin with? She was this Ishtar, who loved and cared for her friends and family-- who grew up from the sorrow and the pain and who also knew of the vampire king's feelings towards her, yet she had not once brought it up. Ishtar wanted Duzell to feel safe when he was around her. She wanted to prove she could protect him, even if it was painful. ]

They can think whatever they like. It doesn't matter. Doesn't it sound fun?

p She chuckled softly, though half hearted as she pats his head a bit at his words. She had always loved Darres and will always be in love with him, but let's face it, she was not going to see him anymore. He wasn't going to magically come here. She was not letting her hopes take the best of her rational thought. ]

Humm... just seeing a little girl. I promised I'd make her paper flowers. Ichiru showed me a long time ago.

[That was received with an icy glare from Duzell.]

What in the world are you spouting?

[He keeps both arms folded across his chest as he looked at Ishtar. This woman had too many ideas for her own good. Rather, she was so care free. He's realizing even more why Darres and Sir Keld would always freak out with Ishtar. She was said crazy things. And yet he can't deny the redness on his face as he turned his gaze at something else.]

Stop saying ridiculous things!

[He took a few measured breaths to regain his composure. Seriously, his heart can't take this much time with Ishtar. It was still very difficult to think of what the woman was thinking about.

But at the mention of the task, Duzell just looked up at her slowly.]

Why?

[ Whatever Duzell. Ishtar just does what she wants. ]

Well, if people ask it would be weird to have to explain all the above that I cannot say aloud.

[ She shifted as she glanced at him. Ishtar was always full of bad ideas Duzell, don't you know that? She's really good at it as well. ]

I am not saying anything bad. You make it seem like it's super bad.

[ She giggled before standing and walking towards the last patient. ]

Because it's nice to do for people. Children are cute.

You just have too little care in the world, Princess.

[He snapped. Both his eyes closed shut as if to shut away any thoughts of her. At that moment. Seriously, he doesn't know if it is a good thing that she's with Ishtar that very moment.]

Lies.

[He huffed as if truly believing it. Though really, he just gave her a quick answer so he can rest while he's waiting for her to be done with her patient.]

Of course. This isn't Pheliosta. Why should I care about anything?

[ Besides people and taking care of people. She smiled at him. ]

Well, I guess I care about the people more than anything to be honest.

[ She went over to her patient while leaving him with that thought. She didn't seem to care too much if he called her a liar. It meant a lot for her to do things for other people. It didn't matter what it was. ]

[If only Duzell can roll his eyes at her. Sadly they were closed at the moment. He wanted so badly to tell everyone that he doesn't know Ishtar sometimes. But there are times when she had her moments. So instead, he just sighs while sitting down.

For a moment, Duzell simply rested his eyes. Contemplating on their life ahead. Can they really handle everything together? Both of them so used to having everyone serve their every needs. When they escaped that life, it was always just at a whim and not out of necessity.

When she came back, Duzell's ruby eyes just slowly rose to meet Ishtar's gaze.]

Finished?

[ It's not like it matters to her how he reacts to what she has to say. She's just being honest and that's all there was to it, really. She didn't know how else to say otherwise to him.

She thought so. She always trusted that Duzell and her would be able to go through a lot of things together no matter what happens. Ishtar smiled brightly at him. ]

Yeah, let's head back, Duzie.

Good.

[He stood up slowly and blinked his eyes a couple of times like a cat. He would stretch too, but there were too many people surrounding them. So instead he started walking by Ishtar's side.]

About time too.

[ Ishtar stretched as he said that and stood up. She then shifted towards the exit once she told people she was checking out along with Duzell. ]

Sorry, I like to spend my time with people at the very least.

[As Ishtar made her way to the exit, Duzell easily found his place, which was a few steps away from Ishtar. Far enough so it won't be too intimate, while near enough to tell people she is under his protection. If he could, he'd announce to everyone that Ishtar was off limits. However, that sent all the wrong messages to people. Really, all that matters to him is that Ishtar will always remain safe and unharmed. Unlike in that wretched world where she came from before coming here.]

Are you perhaps suggesting that I'm not sociable, Princess?

[Obviously, someone who viewed everyone as dolls wasn't Mister Sociable.]

[ Ishtar was walking and stretching at the same time. She didn't really like the term doctor, because the girl wasn't really the doctor type. She didn't know anything about medical procedures and did first aid and healing only. That meant she was more suited to be a nurse. She just told people to call her by Ishtar though. ]

You're pretty anti-social you know? Surrounded by no one but yourself and you don't really make friends much. I'm just being honest, Duzie.

[ she chuckled as she looked around for some pizza place that she could get pizza from. ]

So food right?

[Duzell gazed at Ishtar for a while before looking forward to where they were going. Clearly unfazed by her words.]

What reason do I have to socialize with these humans? I will gain nothing from talking to them. Every single one of them screaming over the network with their idiotic thoughts. Each one, a different type of idiot.

[Duzell then took a deep breath as he walked.]

Two to three blocks.

[ Ishtar was teasing him if anything. There was no harm in her words, just teasing. ]

Well for one, you could get information and two well you get to have allies instead of enemies. It's nice.

[ She shrugged. ] But Duzie you always work solo so I get it, I suppose.

[ She smiled giving him another look. ]

Okay, let's keep walking then.

What use do I have of allies?

[He continues to walk forward with Ishtar. The scent of food increasing each passing step.]

If I work with too many people, that requires having to trust my life and your life to some other person. How can I guarantee that they won't harm you? Also, I haven't seen anyone in the city worth making trusting.

They will help when stuff happens, even if you don't completely need it.

[ She pointed out as a matter of fact. She continued to walk alongside him, keeping up with his strides. ]

Mostly everyone has been kind to me and protective of me. I am the same for them. I just want you to get along with them. you don't have to like them. I trust them and we've been through a lot together. So, it's not like they're complete strangers.

That will require me to help them when they need me. And chances are, they'll be the one needing me.

[Nope. He's too lazy for that sort of commitment. It's enough that he has Ishtar to worry about. He didn't need anyone else to worry about.]

It doesn't matter. For all you know, they might just be playing you so they can use you at an opportune moment.

[Then he halts in front of the pizza place.]

I think this is the place.
