[ VIDEO ]
[ Dorothy is normally pretty expressionless, but by her current face - eyes slightly narrowed, lips thinner - anyone who's spoken to her before might be able to tell she is Not Amused.
Coolly: ]
I am curious.
What holiday do you celebrate, where everyone loses their minds?
Please inform me.

[ A pause. ]
One friend of mine runs a bakery, but it is closed, and she isn't living in her home above it. It has been abandoned. I have been trying to find her, but I haven't yet. I am ... very worried.
[ Her eyes have changed, a little, as she continues to talk. Her voice grows more quiet as she continues.
It's hard for her to show worry, but when her distress is like this? It will show in little ways. ]
Another person I know is ... Captain Cassian Andor. He is a good person, a Guardian of Attleton. And he is not himself.
And my friend, who I live with, does not remember me any longer.
[He folds his arms, now a little worried about this girl.]
They didn't kick you out, did they?
[ Her sister, it still remained to be seen. ]
I'm not concerned for myself.
It's the others I'm worried for.
Send me their names and descriptions, photos if you have them. I'll keep an eye out, and contact you if I run into any of your friends.
I am most worried for Orihime Inoue. It isn't like her to abandon her job, and I don't know if she has a place to stay outside of her apartment.
[ She gives a brief description,
but of course Kirk won't be able to find her because welland tries to believe her friend is all right. ]... Is there anyone else you know who has been changed?
I'll keep my eyes and ears open.
[At the very least he'll be able to report that he didn't find her trying to sleep on any park benches or in cardboard boxes at night.]
Ahh...not well enough that I could call them out on it. Spock I've known for years, though, so he's my best shot at this.
[ They're strangers, but Kirk has a way of exuding confidence, that even Dorothy isn't immune to. She feels inclined to trust his word, that he'll at least try.
More curious than anything else: ]
Why would he be more emotional?
[He pulls his hand over his jaw, thinking it over.]
Vulcans place a lot of value on logic and keeping control over their emotions. It's not that they don't have them, they're just able to keep emotional reactions subdued in favor of logic and reason. What's more, Spock is half human. He was raised on Vulcan, though, so his behavior isn't all that different from any others of his species.
He seemed sober, so I can't blame this on alcohol or sucrose.
Could he be ill?
[ But then, Dorothy pauses, and thinks. Memories. ]
What if Vulcan raised him differently? If his planet was changed, in his Memories, then he would be changed.
[ Considering what happened on Paradigm, an entire planet being different in one Memory as compared to another didn't seem that outlandish to her. ]
In any case, he doesn't seem to think anything is wrong from what I've seen, and hasn't mentioned anything about the shift in behavior.
...
At least, your friend is different, but not dangerous, or in danger.
[And he's grateful for that. As far as he can tell, Spock sounds like he still knows his usual self-defense moves, after hearing him describe his tussle with his new girlfriend. ...ARE they boyfriend and girlfriend now? ...No, he's getting off track.]
But your friend doesn't have a communicator, I'm guessing. I'm not sure why she wouldn't pick up otherwise.
[ She doesn't quite understand what he means. ]
But she doesn't answer my calls.
[His
enormouseyebrows draw down as his gaze shifts a little upward, examining his own communicator.]Do these things have any sort of tracking device? Seems like that would be useful if people go missing around here fairly frequently.
... I don't know.
[ She peers at the CPU, considering it. Absently: ]
It may be a breach of privacy.
[ That was always the balance, though, wasn't it? Safety and privacy. ]
But if you think she's really in danger, use it. Now I'm not going to advocate complete disregard for the rules, but keep in mind why those rules were made, and if breaking the rule goes against that reason.
[Because, as it turned out, Spock's accidental tracking device in Uhura's necklace wound up saving her life, so.]
