[ Here's a new face for all of you. Just this young man, sitting cross-legged on a wall with his hands tugged into the large sleeves of his dark cloak that is generously pooling around him. His phone? Is either propped up somewhere or plain floating in mid-air, but details.

At least he looks cheerful enough. ]

Hey.

[ He nods once. ]

My name's Anakin Skywalker. I'm a Jedi Knight and General in the Grand Army of the Republic. And while I guess that this doesn't mean anything here, the latter may be explanation enough for why I'm not too happy with being here.

You see, there's a war going on back in my galaxy and I'd rather be with my men than sitting around on some forced vacation.

I'm not getting much of a say in this as it seems, however.

[ Anakin's expression relaxes and he looks down to where his hands come free from where they have been tugged away. The money he has been given rests within his fingers and he gives it a contemplative look. ]

I was told I'd need a job and a place to stay, but being a Jedi I'm not allowed possession. Including money. I don't mind working. I'm good with droids, building and fixing things. But I wonder if it's possible to just work in exchange for a place to stay rather than material pay.

Sorry about the bad news, we're all kind of stuck here, but from what I've heard,
time stops while you're here.

I don't have a job or place to offer, but I hope someone with space does. For the first month at least, you can live for free in the Commons.

I understand needing to be home due to a war, however from what I've heard, time doesn't pass while we're here, and resumes when we return home. Take from that what you will.

It's nice to meet you General Skywalker. I'm sorry that you've been forced into the situation with us, but I'm sure the people here will be accommodating.

If I may offer a suggestion? Accept the money and only spend for minimal room and board with enough for food, then donate the rest to a charity?

... There's so much he wants to ask. Which Republic, for one. The one in his future, or the one he's fought against? There's a war - which one?

And, he would quite like to say, for the Force's sake, to get off his high horse and accept some food and clothes for himself, it's not like you can live off of the energy of self-righteousness alone -

He takes some time to compose himself - to try to squish down and repress every trace of the Force that he can within him - before making the video transmission.

He can't keep away, he has to know.

I think that means you outrank the others here, maybe. Well, depending. I think? No, one of them also called himself General - that's my mistake. Sorry about that. I'm still trying to figure everything out ...

It's really disorienting to get pulled into here - at least, that's how it was for me.

[ He listens, raising a curious brow at her comment about time not passing.

This sounds an odd lot of what had happened when Obi-Wan and Ahsoka and him had been brought to Mortis. Maybe this place is similar... ]

I see... I mean, I know that Rex will look after the other Clones should I really be gone for a while. I just... It's my responsibility to be there. Not here.

And I appreciate your suggestion and will meditate about it before making any decisions.

I can only hope that time stops, but it's strange to imagine. I will trust in my troops to be able to look out for themselves as long as I'm gone.

Maybe I'm lucky and won't have to stay here for too long.

[Anakin is certainly not the person Cad Bane most wants to see - but maybe there was an opportunity here and he was never one to shy away from a possible opportunity.]

If you build me a droid to my particular specifications I can see what I can do for you.

[ Yes, complete stranger, never commanded an army against your Republic, of course not, ~~you might be from the future~~. ]

Well, I mean. I think we're probably from the same galaxy. Same as Captain Andor, and Captain Solo, and General Grievous, anyway. I mean - it's probably a safe guess, since you said 'Jedi', and I'm pretty sure nobody from any other world I've read about here has mentioned them yet -

[ And then, he flushes, as if he's embarrassed for babbling on.

(Those transmissions were public. He can't pretend they aren't from the same world. He needs to lay all the data out right away, clearly be open as if he's hiding nothing.)

Uh. Not long, really. Three weeks, coming up? I'm still getting used to this place.

[The mask may look familiar. The voice may even be familiar. But this was not the cyborg of the Clone Wars. This is the Kaleesh alien he was before Dooku and Sidious turned him into the Jedi killing machine. This one comes from a alternate timeline where he swiftly defeated the Huk, saved his homeworld and his family and so there was never Jedi interference and he never changed his name to Grievous. It's a temporary condition and the cyborg will be back in a few days... but right now he continues to do his duty as a Deputy Guardian, protecting the cities.]

You will bring no wars here.

I think it does, everyone certainly believes so. I'm sure they will be fine, even if that's the case. Not that I'm saying they don't need you, I'm sure they do.

I've been here roughly a month and a half or so. Some people have mentioned a lot longer though.

[ He narrows his eyes at that response. A standard year? That can’t be... ]

What makes you think I would build you a droid?

[ Because he apparently can’t argue with her ‘being late’ part. ]

[ Well, yes. This one does seem a little familiar, and yet Anakin can’t put his finger on anything specific. ]

I never said I would.

[ He assures calmly. ]

I just said I’d rather be back at the war I’m coming from. My friends need me.

However, here we have had relative peace. I am Sheelal and it is my duty to uphold that and protect the citizens of Nova City as its deputy Guardian. You are welcome as long as you do not cause any trouble.

Of course you are also free to roam to any of the other linking cities as well.

[ There’s a brief, angry flicker of static as Anakin repeats the word in disbelief. Oh, you asked about Obi-Wan? Too bad, because Anakin suddenly has words for you. ]

You broke into the Jedi Temple. You stole an important Holocron and first captured, then killed the Jedi guarding its memory crystal. You tried to kill my Padawan! You kidnapped innocent children from their parents!

But I’m being judgemental for refusing to build you a droid?!

[ The static increases as the Jedi’s anger raises just as well. Just a little Disturbance in the Force... ]

Do I have to go on?!

[He can't feel the Force and they aren't in the same room, but even Cad Bane can sense and see that rising anger and understand that's causing the static. Provoking the Jedi further may not be a good idea. He merely shrugs, though, as if all of those heinous things meant nothing to him.]

It's in the past. You're not supposed to judge others on their past deeds here.

You want to arrest me, you're going to have to pin me for some crime I committed here.

[ It’s that nonchalance that makes Anakin pull his lips back into a snarl. Cad Bane acting like the lives he took mattered nothing.

And in this place... they probably do. ]

I don’t need to arrest you to know what you’re capable of - And what you’re willing to do for something as trivial as money!

[ He raises the money in his hand into view, still obviously agitated, but also disgusted. At least the static receedes somewhat. ]

I’d probably have to hire you myself to keep you from accepting any dubious jobs.

[ Of all those names, only one really sounds familiar. ]

Grievous, you say? Grievous is here?!

[ And yes, that's an alarmed tone. ]

Where is he? Has he murdered anyone yet?

[ This is important, okay?! ]

It's nice to meet you, Sheelal. It's good to see you're taking your duties seriously. And believe me: I mean no trouble. As a Jedi I'm technically a peacekeeper myself, the war has just... Changed things.

[ There's a moment of contemplative silence. ]

...I wish we could just end that war, trust me.

At any rate, if I can be of any help, let me know. I kind of got trained for that kind of thing.

And they expect us to simply accept all of this and go about our lives as if being dragged into another world is perfectly normal?

[ Well that reaction was fascinating. That certainly answered when the Jedi was from, too, since Captain Andor had said the farthest anyone was back in time - before him - was from the “Clone Wars”. So this Knight had to be from the same era.

He kept the confused, uncertain look on his face - made himself look increasingly nervous, in fact. ]

N-no? At ... at least, not that I know of.

I mean. He’s a deputy Guardian of Attleton.

I thought that’d mean he was ... well ... interested in protecting people.
