Butterfly Illusion: Mavis Dragneel, empress of Alvarez [Accidental Video/Action/OTA]
[The feed turns on showing Mavis wearing a fancier dress than what she's used to. Her face and body still retain the eternal youth that her curse granted her but her calm expression makes her look somewhat older.
A plain gold band shines on her left ring finger in the weak daylight as she reaches for the gold locket around her neck. It wears this symbol that some may recognize as the Alvarez Empire symbol.
She looks at the snowy land around her and murmurs, a gentle smile on her lips.]
"I wonder if it's been snowing in Alvarez as well, last night. Invel must be happy."
[She takes a few steps down a path and Fairy Haven appears in the distance.]
"It feels almost nostalgic to live here again after so many decades..."
[She brings the locket to her lips and kisses it softly.]
"I miss you, my son. And I know your father does too. But it's comforting to know you'll be looking over the citizens of our empire until we get back home."
[Mavis keeps walking towards Fairy Tail's guild hall. She's taking her time, holding her dress so it won't get dirty. She's not sauntering or running like she usually would. The feed still manages to catch a glimpse of her naked feet. Some things never change.]

She ponders it a moment before she decides to ask.] But why do you say 'than I remembered'? You've always known me as the Empress of Alvarez.

[Mirajane hopped up, did a backflip, walked a tight rope walking line forward and backward, and then balanced herself on one hand. It was a good thing she was wearing her old tank top and short shorts, otherwise doing a handstand might make her dress pool down around her face and have a set of legs awkwardly dangling in the air.]
Yup, my motor skills seem to all be intact, not a single wobble.

{ There's a saying in Alvarez: "The Empire never sleeps." Spanning an entire continent and numerous island territories, there was never a point in time where the entire Imperial population would all be sleeping, or at least, should be. There were a few mountain chains in the Empire, and likely, at one least one piece of Alakitasia was far enough to the north to get close to the polar regions.
Zeref approached Mavis from the side, clad in a far more regal outfit than his usual simple, loose-fitting robes. He places a hand on Mavis' shoulder, as she kisses the locket. }
It was a bit late snowing in Vistarion last year, though, so it's possible.
{ Zeref turns to Fairy Tail's guild hall. }
I wouldn't know. I've never been part of any guilds, and before you came to Alvarez with me, I rarely spent more than a year living in Vistarion at any given time.
{ And the absurdly colossal palace they called home was big enough to be considered a city all on its own. In fact, it basically was; the Imperial Family only really set aside one of the towers as their own personal residence. The rest of the palace was occupied by various military branches and the sprawling bureaucracy one would expect from the Ministry of a nation as massive as the Alvarez Empire. }
I'm surprised your guild took the news as well as they did. They knew you resigned after you married 'Emperor Spriggan.' Did they already know that he and the Black Wizard were the same person?

[She smiles and kisses his cheek softly.] But this has changed. You have a home and a family now.
[Mavis bites her lip at his question.] Not at first. But they saw how much good Emperor Spriggan did over the years. So when I eventually explained that you used to be known as the Black Wizard, most of them decided that what you used to be in the past did not really matter. Precht, Yuri and Warrod vouched for you, too. [Mavis is a tactician through and through, even when it comes to her husband's public image.]

He still wanted Acnologia dead more than anyone else in the world, but after what had happened with the Grand Magic Games, it was clear that Igneel's plan wasn't going to work. But at least, now, he didn't have to come up with a Plan B alone. Mavis was helping him. And together, they might have a chance. }
They're more understanding than most.
{ Even the citizens of the Empire didn't know he and Zeref were the same person; only the Spriggan Twelve were trusted with that kind of knowledge. }
I'm starting to like it here, honestly. Politics is such a tiring endeavor.

[As he starts complaining about politics, she just chuckles softly.] Could it be the reason why you nominated me to become Fayren's Guardian so many times in a row since we got here? [Every time there was a nomination really.] You get to take some vacation but I don't? [Her voice sounds amused. She clearly doesn't mind than he did this, quite the opposite.]

{ Family, friendship, all that jazz aside, a guild needed money if it had any intention of staying in business, and Fairy Tail, for all of its problems with property damage and the occasional skirting of the law, was the reason Magnolia went from a destitute slum left in Blue Skull's wake, to a town second only to Crocus or Port Hargeon in terms of economic prosperity in Fiore. They were able to pull that much money in from their contracts. }
You're more suited to that kind of position than I am. You know why I founded Alvarez. Fayren doesn't need a ruler, it needs a protector.

[Mavis smiled and kissed his cheek.] You always know what to say to make me feel special, don't you?

{ The Council does have a history of looking the other way whenever it's convenient for them. Case in point, Jellal. But then again, it wasn't just them; the King of Fiore would never stand for the Council ever carrying out their threats to punish Fairy Tail for their wanton lack of respect for property rights.
As Mavis kissed his cheek, his eyes closed, briefly. }
It is the least I can do. I don't even want to think about how my life was before we met... or how it might be, now, if we never had.
{ Words that are definitely going to come back to haunt him after this event, and Mavis finds out what happened in their own world from either Mirajane or Erza. }

[Mavis tilts her head slightly, puzzled by her surprised expression. But she answers anyway.] My son August, yes. Or as you might know him, General August Dragneel. [All her pride as a mother shows in her voice as she says that title.]

August is your-- When? How?! [As far as she had been told by Mavis, they had just kissed before Mavis "died"! ...Then again, it seemed unlikely that Mavis would share the more carnal moments of her history with the guild as a whole.]
...Actually, never mind. [Being called "Miss Scarlet" was a little odd for her, but she didn't bother to say anything - if she asked Mavis to call her Erza, then Mavis might ask Erza to call her by her name instead of "First", and Erza felt that might be too informal given Mavis's role in the guild.] I... wasn't aware that August was your son, but from what I've heard about him, I suppose it makes sense. [It certainly explains his ability to master every magic, not to mention his sheer strength.]
I just-- Mirajane's been acting odd lately - more aggressively than normal. I've had to avoid some parts of the guild, or else we'd start fighting if she saw me. I'd rather not damage the guild if I could help it.

Or so I noticed. I thought maybe she had been partying too much lately but... if you think that is more serious than that, maybe I should try to figure out if something is wrong with her. [Back home, she would not interfere with Fairy Tail's business unless asked by the guild master. But since Erza had been guild master and was asking her now, it was probably okay for her to do that.]

I'm hoping this will sort itself out, but if there's anything you can think of, I'd greatly appreciate it. ...Though I'd suggest being careful with what you try - she's acting like she was when she was younger, so she can get quite violent.
How is Alvarez, anyway? [She did notice the mention of "our" empire, once she got over the shock about August; hopefully more information will clear this up.]
