[When the feed starts up, the only thing visible is a black hooded figure's head and a still-ajar door. Were it not for him speaking up, it would have been hard to tell exactly who it was. Even then, he doesn't offer a name - only a sigh of annoyance before he speaks.]

You know, for a place that tries to be so accomodating, it sure does leave a few tripping hazards.

[He temporarily tries to angle the camera to show what it was that tripped him coming in - a medium-sized package all wrapped in red paper, just inside one of the starter apartments - but considering his own little... handicap, only a corner is seen.]

I was wondering, though - is there an audio version of the reading material? While the girl's voice was helpful, I... can't read them.

[Not through the blindfold wrapped around his eyes, and he didn't want to remove it for his own personal reasons. Not that anyone could see it with his hood up in the first place, or any of his facial features beyond silver hair that escaped its confines in the tumble that was likely heard throughout the entire apartment complex with how thin the walls are.]

...Was hard enough finding my way here.

[The feed ends after a few seconds of fumbling for where the off button ought to be.]

[He lets out a contemplative hum.]

Yeah, it's better sometimes n-not to think of the cost of things but...

[Their travels have been a lot more sinister than they expected, they've lost a lot more than they expected too, everything, really.]

I j-just mean, I get that. But seeing the actual places? Even this one? There's still amazement to be had.

[His voice is soft, contemplative, he does know what Riku means by a cost, but it's not really what he meant. His tone at the end is hopelessly optimistic.]

['Better sometimes not to think on the cost of things', huh. He can see why this guy thinks that, but it's... hard. Especially since he didn't want to just throw that away, too.]

I'll have to take your word on that, you know.

[The whole blindfold thing. And if that thing's reaction to his learning Zexion was here was any indication, it's a good thing he still has it. Still, he at least sounds amused this time.]

Oh man, sorry that was kinda dumb of me.

[He's mentally freaking out because really, you can't say that to someone who can't see, even if he'd just been babbling and he groans a little.]

I should know better, I really should! [One of his friends is also blind.]

I'm really sorry!

[Hang on a moment, he's kind of stuck in apology mode.]

Breathe, man. I'm guilty of the same thing.

[There was a hint of amusement in his voice. Sometimes he wondered if he even made people think he could see through the cloth over his eyes. The joke was on them. He almost always had his eyes closed, anyway.]

Besides, the sounds and scents are just as good. And... I still hope that this is temporary.

[What he wouldn't give to see his friends' smiles again.]

Okay, I mean, good, I mean, thanks for forgiving me.

[He's flustered, very much so but if he takes a few breaths and calms down, he can get over it, maybe.]

They can be, yeah. I know, I should get Iggy to make you something. H-His food is amazing!

[He pauses.] Yeah I get that too...I th-think we're hoping Iggy's blindness is temporary too.

No worries.

[His fingers are crossed for ya, man. Though you can't see it.]

[He notes that pause, thinking for a minute.] Does he- have problems getting around?

[He hums slightly, as he thinks about that.]

Well I th-think he's from before I am in time? So he's a bit off balance, but I know he gets it soon.

He even fights blind, so Iggy is amazing, my total hero! [He grins, why shouldn't he admire his friend?]

[The longer Prompto speaks, the more he's reminded of his friends back on the Islands. He's a lot more shy, yeah - but they all... Nah. Now wasn't the time to think about it. Instead, he hums in thought.]

That's good to hear. [A pause.] I know it took me some time, myself - fighting like this.

Can't cook more than a few fish dishes to save my life, but...

[He can almost hear that grin in Prompto's voice, and it gets a soft "heh" out of him.]

Don't think I caught your name earlier. I'm Riku.

Ignis is the best cook. [He's smiling pleasantly.] He's always been our chef.

Oh right! S-Sorry! [He laughs nervously.] I'm Prompto Argentum!

Nice to meet you, Prompto.

And, if he wouldn't mind help from someone he doesn't know... I've already been asked to consider being an instructor to the royal guard.

[He would not mind doing it for free, honestly. Heh. Maybe Sora's bleeding heart was contagious, after all.]

I can tell him about you, sure. A r-royal guard though?

[And he doesn't mean Ignis? Interesting.]

Apparently there's one in Fayren. Since I just got here, that's all I know about it.

[At least he knows his skills won't get rusty for however long he stays here.]

Ah, I see. I d-don't know anything about those royals, so I don't know what they're like.

[He laughs softly.]

I have my own king to worry about.

[Well, Prompto. If he wasn't curious before, you certainly have his attention now. Because these parallels are starting to border on the uncanny.]

... Ordinarily I'd be the same, but, since mine hasn't contacted me... I can only assume he isn't here.

[Just a small collection of the enemy, to which he is going to have to keep an ear out for.]

[He makes an agreeable noise.] Mmhmm.

If you get the ch-chance to meet Noct, he's our king. I'm his Crownsguard and best friend.

[A beat.] Don't be intimidated by him, his favourite thing to do is fish. It's n-not very scary at all! Ignis and Gladio are also members of his guard.

["Noct", "Ignis" and "Gladio" - names he's going to try and keep in mind in case their paths cross. But, since Prompto shared, he'll do the same.]

Mickey is from a different place than I am, but... I owe him my life.

[There's a bit of fondness in his voice at that. He... wouldn't still be struggling, fighting for his own way if it hadn't been for the little mouse king he considered a close friend. He'd be lying if he said otherwise. And, along with that:]

Kairi, one of my best friends, is a princess. Though I'm fairly certain she'd get flustered if anyone called her "highness". And Sora... That guy could sleep through just about anything, and smile about it all the same.

[...He misses them dearly.]

[He sounds cheerful, it's what he does.]

He sounds like a really important person to you. Th-That's really good! I mean, it doesn't matter where he's from right?

[He finishes with a slight hint of anxiety in his tone.]

Really? I don't think th-that's ever bothered Noct. But he sleeps a lot. [He laughs.]

Your f-friends sound nice.

Nope, not at all. [Prompto will get 0 arguments from him on that.]

To be fair, Kairi didn't exactly remember much from home when we met. Hadn't until recently, either. [For him, anyway.] It's been, what, almost a year since I last saw her? So that might have changed...

[Man, time flies.]

So do yours. [He doesn't deserve any of them.]

[He understands how it is, when you're not from the same place, but it doesn't matter as long as everyone gets along.]

Yeah, I th-think that too! I mean, lots of new um, friends here.

I'm sorry you've been apart, and now even longer. M-Maybe she'll come here too?

[Ever the optimist, Prompto is.]

[And there's the nervous stutter again. He does his best not to chuckle at it, for his new friend's sake.]

Maybe, but if not, it's alright.

[They'll meet again eventually, and he knows it. He's not sure on the how, or even if he'll be himself anymore, but.. Prompto doesn't need to know any of that.]

It's my own fault, really - I told Sora to protect her while I was gone and off he goes taking a nap for months.

[Aaand there's the exasperated sigh of an older brother figure who is really tired of his little brother figure's shit.]

[He does his best, but it takes time for him to get comfortable and stay comfortable.]

For months? Are you s-sure he's okay? I mean he sounds like he's hurt or something.

[But maybe not, because he doesn't sound upset, just exasperated.]

[Well, the answer is "he really isn't" but ~~the social link is not high enough to get him to talk of that part of his past~~ he isn't comfortable discussing it yet.]

He'll be fine. It's just a waiting game for now.

[Though he should have been awake by now, and it does have him worried, but he won't express that. Not yet.]

Oh, I see...w-well I hope your friend wakes up soon then.

[He sounds sympathetic, Noct had an incident like that, but he didn't know him back then, so he can't really know what Riku feels like.]

I hope so, too.

[It's his way of saying he appreciates it. Though for a moment, there's only the sound of something shifting and- was that the sound of a weapon being summoned?]

But, no use worrying about it here, right?

[He makes a thoughtful noise.]

If you can ignore that kind of feeling, then yeah. P-Probably, I mean with everything all frozen at home.

But I can't do that kind of thing, turn it off, n-not how my brain works, personally, heh.
