Winter's Super Fun Training Camp - Week Seven

WHO: Winter Schnee, Ted Satchel, Link, Navi, Hamusuke, Mael Radec, Eleanor Hume
WHAT: Winter's training regimen is nearing its end, now it's time for the recruits to head out on assignment to deal with some of the many problems facing Fayren. Will they manage to work together and complete their tasks in a week? Let's see!
WHEN: Saturday, December 24th - Early Morning
WHERE: Fayren - Training Camp

Instead of being sent out for their daily five-mile run, the members of Winter's training regimen were ordered to line up. It was freezing outside, but what else was new? Winter approached with a series of envelopes.

"Today you will be paired up with a random partner, and given an assignment, the nature of which will not be revealed until you choose an envelope." Her lieutenant passed out small manila envelopes, each one containing a letter: A, B, C, and so forth. Those with matching letters would be made into a team.

The teams and assignments were as follows:

Team A: Navi and Ted
A rash of thefts have struck the homes of Fayren's richer residents. The culprits are a tribe of bandit halflings, wily and tricky. They're exceptionally good at laying traps to ensnare people who try to track them down, and making fun of those who get caught in them.

Team B: Eleanor Hume and Hamusuke
A young blue dragon, capable of breathing forks of lightning, is abducting children from the outlying farms. Rescue the children. How you deal with the dragon is up to you.

Team C: Mael Radec and Link
A nobleman of questionable character will be arriving in town tomorrow with intentions of wooing the princess. Investigate him to make sure he's who he claims to be before he is permitted into the castle. (A thorough investigation will reveal that he killed the true lord and assumed his identity; he's an aspiring sorceror responsible for torching elven villages and trying to stir up contention between the monarchy and the elven tribes.)

[OOC: I won't be running the NPCs unless requested; I'm a lot slower and it might be a while until I'm caught up enough to give boomerang tags. Feel free to run with it and have fun! They have until Friday, December 29th to complete their assignments ICly, but there's no OOC limit. If it's taking too long, feel free to send an OOC summary so Winter knows how things went. Trainees can assist other teams if they complete their jobs early, and may also call on other characters for help if they're having a tough time! There's a thread for each character. Winter will be available via communicator and will assist in case of an emergency.]

Navi on the other hand, her agility was above average than any fairy she knew. This fairy could easily sprint through a forest and avoid any bumps on the way, a quick fairy. Keeping up with Ted was a simple task.

Then, of course, Ted had a little bump in the way. Navi watched poor Ted, then saw something ready to crash down. The fairy bounced in the air repeatedly with a couple chimes to warn the poor fellow.

"Look! Above you!!"

Hopefully she was quick enough to warn Ted.

A large, dull-brown mass came crashing down. Ted jerked his head up at Navi's Cry, then leaped back just as the tree smashed into the ground.

"Aww! Dumb firefly; thought we had 'im! Oh well; he'll fall for the next one!"

Ted was too relieved at what transpired to continue the pursuit just then. "Aheh, thanks, Navi, almost met my doom there. It really is terrific how one with no eyes sees so well; I'll be counting on you to serve as mine, all right?"

Fortunate, for Ted's observational skills were lacking. Were it not for Navi's guidance, he may have stumbled into a pit fall, or gotten tied up in a counterweight rope, or any of the other many, many devices designed to thwart them from the cunning halflings.

What he lacks in eyesight Ted made up for in agility, and soon enough, he closed distance to pounce upon the first unlucky halfling in his grasp.

"Got you!"

Ted dangled the mischievous creature upside down like he wanted his lunch money.

"Now cough up what you stole, or so help me-"

"All right, all right! Hey, Horster, jig is up."

"Nuts," said his partner in crime, kicking the dirt.

What followed was a patient walk back to the tribe's camp. Where they were all rounded up. "Don't worry," Ted tried to comfort. "While the rich are very possessive of their possessions, I'll try and put in a good word." He did, after all, have fun. Perhaps it was Ted's willingness to play their game that warmed him to the tribe. They were made to give all their ill-gotten goods, and despite for a few bruises, scrapes, and a missing tooth or two, all was well that ended well.

As they made their way back to Winter to report their success, Ted talked as though he hadn't had his life endangered by a tree.

"Wonderful work, Navi. Haha, where would Link be without you, I wonder?"

It was indeed a trivial day. The halflings were dealt with, the riches had their possession, and no one was hurt badly. Navi gave a good lecture to some of the halflings after they were caught. They got an ear full enough they would had wished the fairy would keep quiet.

Navi looked at Ted happily. "He would probably be chasing girls." Navi honestly blunt out. She really cared for Link. "Good job Ted!"
