[when the feed turns on, Cloud's no longer sitting in an empty, plain room. he'd moved out of there a while back and into a cheap apartment in Genessia. no, instead you'll find that the blond is surrounded by books at the library, some bits and pieces of loose leaf paper with notes scribbled on them strewn about. when he wasn't working or training, this was what Cloud spent most of his time doing these days. searching for answers and learning more about this world.
subarchways... they caught his eye amidst everything that kept throwing him for a loop. with the sacrifice of something important to him, he could unveil a piece of his world, however superficial it was. admittedly, the thought disturbed him. even if it was his choice on what he lost... to be honest, both the good and the bad memories were what made him who he was. if he forgot something, would he lose a piece of who he was? no; there was no way he was going down that road again. coffee in hand, Cloud's taking a break from the various books surrounding him as he plans on staying a little late. his gaze fixes onto the camera as he looks tired, but not unwell. a small smile crosses his lips as he tries to find the right words.]
Guess this is some kind of late catch all, but...thanks for the Christmas presents.
[they'd know who they are. Cloud was going to eventually make it up to those that he missed... he was still extremely new to this, after all. but more importantly, as his smile fades—]
Did anyone else get something a few days ago from "Santa Claus"? [Ted talked about him] How'd they know to take something from my home? Anyone got any clue?
[shot in the dark, he supposed. but there was another reason why he didn't spend as much time at home anymore. he couldn't just throw it away, but for some reason it ate away at Cloud looking at his gift from Santa. not that he'd show it; he was just the same old calm delivery boy for a bakery here. that was everything he wanted to ask for now. some small talk as he skims through books while staying warm inside wasn't so bad. the video ends]

[It made her wonder how they even got there in the first place, which made her wonder if they could leave here in order to do that and even travel worlds in which case, she wondered how.]
I mean, they must have done something to get those things... But I don't really know much to give my thoughts.
video;
Every little bit counts. [still...] Wonder if catching Santa would work...
[yeah you kind of...missed your window of opportunity, Cloud.]
video;
[Unless he does make another appearance.]
video;
[drat. but, if that's the way it is? there's not much else he can do about it. not that he wanted to stay here that long
not like he had a choice.]What'd you get?
video;
[It might seem like an odd gift to get, but to her, it was a reminder of the way things were and how honestly, how much things have changed from that time. It was a nice little memory to have, even though bittersweet at the reminder of what happened afterward.]
What did you get?
video;
[he got the same thing. guess Santa knew how valuable memories were in the form of photographs.]
I got a picture of my family.
video;
[She smiled slightly.]
I think it was a very nice gift he gave us then.

[i.e. some real villains got a gift too so hell if he knows what joker is pretending to be Santa]
What was yours? Something good?
[His was...poignant.]
[Video]
[weird. unless Cloud was being judged super hard for what he did in AVALANCHE, he imagines he'd be on the 'good list' if there even was one. but Ted brings up a good point. he pats down some papers and organizes them.]
....
[before stopping to think about that question. more time than he would have liked passes before he thinks of an answer, his voice even.]
Yeah. A picture of my family.
[no sense in lying.]
Re: [Video]
[Well you did blow up a power plant Cloud. That's kinda messed up.]"Aheh, yes, that very phrase."
[He figures the pause is because Cloud's gift was like his own: a little too close for comfort.]
"..ah, a not entirely joyous thing, I take it."
[Video]
definitely the most naughty good boy ever.]Something like that. [the second those words slip out of his mouth, Cloud's almost too quick to correct himself. he may not have liked himself in that photograph, but... that was still Tifa, Marlene and Denzel. how could he even think something like that?] I mean, it's fine, it's just...
[damn it. probably wasn't a good idea to even bring it up. instead, he clears his throat]
Hope to see them again soon. [he says as he ignores his worries to think about getting back]
Re: [Video]
[He wishes he could agree less reservedly. Still, homesickness, nostalgia, and all the rest...he swears he's seen that weaken and even destroy people, sometimes. There must be a way to hold on to past loves without having them tempt or distort. If he only knew what. But he can't, so he'll go with his usual standby: jokes]
Santa's a little strange this year, eh?
[Video]
This is my first Santa experience, so... [he lightly huffs with a lazy, amused smirk] I take it the guy's usually on the up and up?

I wouldn't spend too long trying to figure it out. This place is weirdly perverted. Or something.
Didn't you get something you wanted?
[Video]
This is my first Christmas, so... [he didn't realize he could ask for things, let alone from someone who called themselves "Santa Claus". the question, however, gives him reason to pause as he takes a sip of his coffee.] ...mm. Just something to keep by my desk.
What about you?
[Video]
*Because there seemed to be plenty of people around moaning or upset because they don't have all their family and friends around. Whatever*
Huh. I just got this old tape.
*Faye reaches across the sofa and holds up a VHS tape, clearly something recorded for personal use*
I don't even have a machine to watch it on. Not that I'd want to...
[Video]
[he blinks in surprise at the VHS that Faye presents. he was from a completely different world from her, or anyone else here. but there were some commonalities at least. he at least knew what that was.]
You think someone's even got a VCR kicking around somewhere? That's old tech.
[Video]
If they have, if they haven't, it's all the same. I know what's on it and I don't care to say it again. I mean... Of all the things.
*She shrugs again and turns just to look at him with a smile*
You new around here?
[Video]
[he keeps it short and brief. Faye seems content in her decision. just as Cloud is, for the time being, temporarily content with his about his own gift. Cloud flips through a couple more pages before his gaze sets back on the woman]
Yeah. Just around a month. What about you?
[didn't he see her at that date auction a little while back? he thought he saw someone who looked like her]

[Belle is sitting on her bed at home when she replies back to Cloud. True to her character, there are books littered around her on the bed spread and then many more stacked on the nightstand. Some are bought and some are borrowed from the library.]
I was given something of mine from when I was a baby.
[She holds up a rose shaped baby rattle.]
My mother gave this to me. It's the only thing that I have that she's given me. I'm not sure... how he got it but I am happy to see it.
video; Private
Sounds like Santa really went for the whole 'sentimental' thing.
[the only thing Cloud has left of his mother are in his memories. but...that was alright. it had to be alright. to see someone value their family so much puts a small smile across the blond's lips]
Make sure to keep it safe.
video; Private
I will.
[Her expression softens.]
What did Santa bring you? If you don't mind my inquiry.
video; Private
... ...
[in a way, Cloud's gift wasn't meant to be painful either. but every time he looked at it, his mind ran amuck with doubt. what did he have to look forward to? coming back home? his own expression softens in kind]
Santa got me a picture I used to keep at my desk. It's my family.
video; Private
Isn't that a good thing to have?
[She isn't able to see her father while she's here and while they're far away, she'd love the chance to see him, even if it's only in a picture.]
Please excuse me. If it's too personal, you don't have to answer.
video; Private
[he's known Belle long enough. but he's never wanted to burden anyone with his problems. problems that could easily be solved by him moving on, regardless of what happened to him. if he still carried it, maybe he'd show Belle in person.]
.....
[he's hesitant. it was personal, but all she ever did for him was offer kindness and help. everyone here did... he sighs before finally,]
...don't know if I have a family to go back home to.
[saying that outloud causes him to seize up a little; it's clear he's not used to talking about his weaknesses. he hasn't even told the likes of Yang, Robin, Ted, Angela...anyone, really. and he certainly didn't want to tell Belle this either. didn't want to confess that there was a chance that he wasn't even alive back home. but there it was, part of his answer out in the open. if he bottled it away, he would have shut Belle out. and something inside of him screamed at him to not do it.] Sorry, that's uh...
[he makes a half frown at that, tone lightening a little in an attempt to lift the mood.]
