[Since the election had ended, Qubine had been thinking about the kind of leader he was, and the kind of leader that a City Guardian needs to be. And well...it just wasn't him. Qubine begins the feed with what sounds like a relieved sigh.]
So, another election campaign has passed, and the results were about what I expected. I've lost, and Mavis has become Guardian of Fayren. The first thing I'd like to say is, the people made the right choice.
One thing I've never been good at is bringing comfort to those who are grieving. I've always been one to push forward, regardless of what I or my clan may be feeling. My clan is accustomed to that, and may even find inspiration in that. They've encountered many challenges and faced losses throughout their Passage. They've grieved for their fallen comrades. And if I let myself fall in the trench with them, I can't help them. As their leader, I had to remain above it and move the clan forward. I urge my clan to steel themselves, because there are many more challenges ahead. That...is not the kind of leader that Fayren needs. For all the dangers that Genessia does throw at us from time to time, it still pales in comparison to the dangers of my own world.
The people of Fayren - and even all of Genessia - are not my clan. They look for someone strong enough to protect them and gentle enough to help them heal after the rough times. Someone like Mavis. I'm afraid I lack that kind of gentleness. There are other dragons in my clan who are better with that than I. My mate, Shayla, would be a primary example. She comforts my weariness after a hard day's work, and after a tragedy strikes me particularly hard. I've lost both of my sons, so believe me when I say that I am no stranger to tragedy. Since then, Shayla and I have leaned on each other to move forward.
I would best describe myself as a survivor, a warrior. A protector? That's debateable. My clan - the Kalma Clan - have protected our sister clan, the Filia, so that they can live in peace. While it may feel strange to not be the leader, I believe the Deputy position suits me better. Because when a threat comes along, I can't turn away from it.
Now...as far as Deputy business is concerned, I have something of an...odd request. Is there anyone who can craft me a saddle? I would need to visit your place to get the proper measurements beforehand. Afterwards, I will also need practice flying with people on my back, to understand how many people I can carry at once without being weighed down too much, and how fast I can safely fly with them. Of course I would be willing to wait until after the upcoming blizzard to begin this project.
Also concerning the blizzard, being an Ice dragon will enable me to travel through it without much trouble. Therefore, if anyone finds themselves needing any supplies during the storm, I would be willing to deliver. I would strongly encourage everyone to make sure they have everything they need beforehand, however. But if the need does arise, I would be available.
...That is all I wanted to say.

[He doesn't want to accept this as graciously as Qubine.]
[He'd have to hire a secretary to do his paperwork if he had won.]
It also seems that the Guardian requires more diplomacy than a Deputy. But it's not impossible to be both a warrior and a diplomat.

[Qubine would do the same thing.]
...Is that the case with you and this "Jedi" that you keep rambling about?
[Sounds like Weiss's sister. But in Grievous's context, it doesn't apply to just her.]
...Sounds like most civilizations. Each one has their own idea of peace, and oftentimes they don't align with one another, and that causes conflict between them. At least that's what this sounds like to me.
For instance, that human...I assume he was the "Jedi?" He says you murdered people. I don't automatically believe that, since it implies that you killed innocent people in cold blood, which you obviously haven't done in this world. But I am assuming that you've killed a number of these Jedi in the heat of battle? Is that what he was referring to?
But this is the Jedi's way of thinking that they are always the only ones on the side of what is 'right'.
Well, it doesn't sound like there's any hope of peace then. I know of that kind of war all too well. At the very least, try not to wage your war here. If it's just you and him, there's no reason to drag the rest of us into it.
[Just get rid of that one pesky Jedi...]
All right then. I know you've worked to protect Nova City, but I believe this Jedi is new here, so he hasn't seen you work. All he knows is what happened back home. So he's not exactly wrong to hate you either.

[ Cassian inclines his head in a friendly greeting. ]
You are taking the results of the election very well. I'm afraid I'm no expert on gentleness myself, but I do trust you as a protector.
[ He had indeed voted for Qubine, the one he knew best of all the candidates. ]
I suspect that Fayren craftsmen will be more suited to crafting dragon saddles, but if you can't find someone there I'm sure Miss Ayame Sasaki will be up to the task. She provides the gear for the Attleton Guardian's office.

[He's definitely breathing a sigh of relief there.]
I'll check around Fayren then. Thank you.

I'm sure if you had to, you would have done your duty, no matter who is involved.

[Winter has yet to earn Qubine's respect, and if her behavior in the debate is any indication, she doesn't seem keen on trying.]

[ He pauses, thinks for a moment. ]
Not that Fayren internals are any of my business.
[ But if he were in Fayren, it would be a concern to him. Of course, if he were in Fayren, Winter would be his bigger problem... ]

[The Guardian would have to work with the Captain of the Guard for sure. The Deputies, perhaps not so much, but it's still a possibility. Regardless, Qubine would try to avoid it if he can help it.]
