So I'm just going to get straight to the point for this: I need some sparring partners. And I don't just mean people who are good at punching and kicking, I mean someone who can test me and push my limits.

[She shakes her head with a small frown.]

I just... I need to be better. More controlled, more thoughtful. So whatever you're good at, weaponry, magic, super powers -- I'm interested. Maybe I'll give you a run for your money too.

...And if you're any good at dealing with enchanters or illusionists, send me a private line. There's a bounty that's giving me more trouble than he's worth, and I could use some tips, or back-up.

If you're looking for a spar I can certainly help you out. I'm versed in Shinmeiryu swordfighting and some use of magic and charms.

In fact, I might be able to help you with the illusion problem. Depending on how it works or what you know of it, I might be able to make a charm that would mitigate or prevent the illusions from affecting you.

Ahhh can't say I'm too familiar with specific styles of swordfighting and martial arts, but that's fine. If I don't know what's coming it'll help me stay on my toes, right? You're on!

Yeah? That would help a ton, thanks! Would the person making the illusions be aware that they're not working? Because if I can fake it, I might have the upper hand.

That's understandable. The Shinmeiryu swordstyle is designed for fighting against spirits and magical creatures, but it certainly works well enough on regular humans too.

Of course I'll be using the back of my blade. Name a time and place for our spar and I'll be there.

That would depend on the person casting the illusion. By itself the charms wouldn't reveal themselves, but if they can sense the charm activating, they might get suspicious.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say using the edge is going to damage my soul? If that's not the case, then you don't have to hold back. I'll just activate my aura; as long as it's up, I won't take any significant damage, it'll just wear me down.

Well It is a sword, it's going to cut you if I use the blade. Though, I don't know what aura is, if it's anything like a magical barrier my sword style would be more effective.

Not at all. I'm from a world where magic is hidden, but I'm part of that hidden world. So I'm knowledgeable about several aspects of it.
