welcome to the team

WHO: Dorothy and Cassian
WHAT: officially hiring her for the Attleton Deputy team, and, um, awkward conversations
WHEN: Jan 10th
WHERE: Attleton Guardian's office, streets of Attleton

Dorothy had been helping out as an unofficial volunteer in the Guardian's office ever since Cassian had his meltdown after the doppelgangers and Kay's murder, so it wasn't a surprise that he found her already at the Guardian's office, sorting through a stack of files.

His gaze strayed to the empty desk where Thirteen had worked. The precinct seemed emptier without him here, wrong even. He'd been here before Cassian, he'd never known this place without him, or been able to imagine it without him. Yet... nothing was predictable here, and there was still work to do.

"Dorothy?" he asked as he pulled on his jacket, "I'm going on patrol and grabbing a quick lunch. Would you like to accompany me?"

Carefully stacking the folders back together, Dorothy looked up at Cassian. She didn't see anything out of the ordinary about the request. There was something calming about patrolling, Dorothy felt. Making certain things were calm. Helping others in need. Hopefully stopping a crime.

"Yes," she replied, and set the files in the outbound folder tray.

Dorothy walked over to Cassian, looking up at him. "I can make certain you don't forget to eat."

"Just when you need it most," Dorothy pointed out, unknowingly echoing his thoughts. But, really, it was the truth. Honestly. She didn't know why she kept befriending humans who didn't know how to take care of themselves.

She's looking around at the snow-covered yards, the slightly iced streets, the salt-covered sidewalks. Dorothy can tell it's cold - mere function - but it doesn't bother her. Though she does wonder at Cassian, a little. Winter seemed to be an odd season to enjoy, wasn't it?

As nearly always, she considers her words carefully before speaking. "Patrolling is calming." Another pause. "I like knowing we have a chance to do some good. I want to be able to help people. And I know I can trust you, judging which way we can try to help Attleton the best we can."
