The best family is the one you choose [Closed to Fairy Haven regulars/Residents]
WHO: Mavis, Naoki and OPEN to Zeref, Tatlyn, Mira, Erza and Jack.
WHAT: Further to this discussion between Mirajane and Naoki, Naoki discovered the existence of the mage guild named Fairy Tail. He decides to come to Fairy Haven and see if he'd like tobecome a member of their crazy family join the guild.
WHEN: February 12th, 2018 - end of the afternoon.
WHERE: Fayren - Fairy Haven.
WARNING: None that comes to mind.
OTHER: Feel free to create new threads or to threadjack, it's a FT-stlyle log. ;) No posting order as of now. Will change if needed.
Mirajane had told Mavis about this half-demon boy named Naoki Kashima who wanted to join the guild. Truth be told, Mavis had never been prejudiced against dark magic. The fact that she was dating a black wizard was proof enough of that. Still, she was curious about their new recruit.
After a productive day at her office as Guardian of Fayren, she was back to Fairy Haven. She could relax now. She sat near the bar, in the guild hall, holding a mug of hot cocoa and letting its warmth spread through her body.
Upon hearing the door open, she turned around and offered the new arrival a bright smile. "Hi! You must be Naoki. I'm Mavis."

And his eyes went everywhere, unsure where to even start. Thankfully someone calling him out helped a ton. He walked over to her, extending his hand. Well it was a good start. And hey an open bar for later seemed promising.
"Pleasure to meet you. I guess Mirajaine told you about me?"
no subject
"She said you reminded her a lot of her younger self." the blonde added. "And that Fairy Tail might be able to help you just like it helped her." She hoped back onto her stool and gestured for him to come sit next to her.
"I would love to hear more about you, though, and where you come from. But first, would you like something to drink?"
no subject
"As for me well, I come from a regular Earth that I thought had no magic or demons, but things got...complicated. Before my body was changed, I was just a high school student."
no subject
"Mavis, we need to discuss the--" he falls silent, seeing the... strangely bio-luminescent young man with her. "Oh, I didn't realize you were busy. I'm sorry."
Another new recruit, perhaps?

"Here you go," she said cheerfully as she handed Naoki his drink.
When she heard Zeref's voice, she turned to him. He was always so business-like... well most of the time, at least. For people who were meeting them, it was probably difficult to tell they were actually dating.
"Zeref, this is Naoki. He's interested in becoming a member of Fairy Tail." She gave Zeref a small smile. "We can discuss later. Feel free to stay, though."
She then turned back to Naoki. "No, don't worry. Zeref lives here, too. So we'll have plenty of time to talk later. For now, like I said, I'd be very interested in hearing about you."
no subject
"I suppose I could." He'd only ever seen part of Tatlyn's recruitment into the guild; this would be his first time observing the entire process. He set the folder down on a nearby table, and took a seat. He'd remain in silence, and Mavis began her interview process.

Confidence rising a bit, he finally spoke again.
"Like I said, my world didn't have mages or was at least kept a secret from everyone. By the time I found out about occult elements being real, I was visiting my teacher in the hospital. I soon found out she brought me and my friends to survive the end of the world."
He paused for a bit, memories coming back as he witnessed the sky darkening, lightning killing millions within seconds. Even the screams were few, for they died but a moment later. For as strong as he was now, he never witnessed magic on such a grand scale.
"But my old body couldn't survive in that world. Suffice to say, I couldn't survive as a human, so I was made into a half-demon, able to converse and summon demons to my side if we formed a contract. I even forged one with the future version of the Dante in this world. Um, assuming you guys know who he is by the way." Hard not to. He imagined the devil hunter made an impression on everyone at some point.
"In addition to summoning demons, I can also use magic and ki. But it's all the source of this parasite called a Magatama inside of me. Leaving out the more...gruesome details--" Because remembering it really hurts Naoki's eye when he had to describe it. "--That's what made me into, well, the new me. But there's something else you should both know, and I was planning on saying this over the network anyway."
He takes another deep breath, and sighs. "Not sure how familiar you are with Christianity, but I did confirm it with my demons that I was given this power by Lucifer, the rebellious king of hell the very angel cast out by God, and the leader of all the Fiend demons, like the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse."
no subject
"What caused the end of your world, if I may ask?"
And why was being turned into a half-demon the only way for him to survive the end of his world? She let the rest of the question unsaid, though. She didn't want to make it sound like it was a bad thing. She was just curious about Naoki's teacher and why she'd decided to turn him into a half-demon.
Instead she asked: "What happened to the mages? Did they survive the Apocalypse too or only the half-demons like yourself?"
She had read about Christianity, about the Devil and its demons. They were rather different from the demons of Earthland, or the demons of Zeref's books. But she'd found little about half-demons. So, what Naoki was telling her was making her all the more curious.
"If I follow correctly, you're also saying that the Magatama is the source of your magic. Is this parasite specific to demons or half-demons as well? Or is its magic of a completely different nature?"
Hopefully, Naoki didn't mind being asked that many questions. But, at least, he should be able to tell he'd picked her interest.

And demons... the Etherious were demons, but they were his own creations. Naoki was summoning them from hell itself, by the sound of it. And half-demons? He remembered Raven, from before. He didn't know it was possible for half-demons to exist, and not just because all except one of them would rather revert to their book forms and be thrown into an erupting volcano than find out.
... oh. Parasites. That... wasn't quite like ethernano, was it?
Whatever the case, Zeref was now officially interested. He didn't interrupt, only continued to listen.

Realizing she was asking questions, he snapped out of it, going back to answering them.
"A man named Hikawa, who manipulated two different cults, gathered something the Amala Drum. Through a ritual, he was able to bring on the Conception, which in turn caused the end of the world. The goal in that world was that whoever rose to the top of the tower and defeated the Kagutsuchi could shape the world into something else. Kinda like getting a wish in a way."
He shook his head at the next question. "If any mages did survive, they were reduced to just angry souls. Very few were active, and couldn't even do much. The only one who I could consider a mage was Hikawa, since he knew about all of this stuff while I'm still struggling to figure out the details of everything."
He prayed calculus was easier to understand. Probably not. Then again, he may not have had to worry about college. The magatama though...He put a hand under his chin, trying to recall the info passed down to him.
"From what I can tell, it's just the essence of a demon that bonds with a normal human. Other demons had them, but they just wanted money, so it's pretty useless to them. Not sure if it works on other half-demons though. Maybe? I mean I am able to switch which Magatama I carry. Each one does imbue me with different spells to master, along with resistances and weaknesses." A pause. "Um, that answer works, right? Not sure what else I can say about them."
no subject
Mavis looked a bit saddened at hearing Naoki say that mages were reduced to angry souls... It reminded her too much of Precht. Part of her still wished she could have helped him. But it felt ironic, considering her death and the discovery of Fairy Heart had sent Precht on the initiatory trip from which he came back as Hades.
So, instead, she decided to live the past behind and focus on the present, as she often did ever since she arrived in Genessia. She listened to Naoki as he explained how Magatama worked and mentioned that there were Magatama of different natures. He could switch Magatama in order to change the nature of the spells he could use? That sounded like a very powerful ability.
"Is it painful for you to switch Magatama?" She asked. "Also, can you give some example of spells you can use? I would love a demonstration as... assuming it's not too destructive, of course."

He thought a bit more on the spells. There were a few, but they wouldn't go well here. Would likely break a few things. Hard to use healing magic without some help too and--
Ah the summonings. Yes he could show off a few of his friends. He stood up from the stool, turning away from the duo of Fairy Tail.
"Let me summon a few of my friends. Pixie! Cu Chulainn! Cerberus!"
Three bursts of black lightning suddenly burst and faded in the span of a few seconds. In their place, three entities emerged. The first was a small being about as big as Naoki's head, the form being female and having beautiful wings from its back, constantly fluttering to keep her in the air. She only wore a blue leotard, and didn't seem that strong. But looks could be deceiving. If Mavis could sense magical energy, she would find this little demon had far more energy than the other two demons.
The next was humanoid. We're it not for the pale skin, one could mistake him for a human. His armor was a plain white, blue outlines adorning it. This was Cu Chulainn, and he carried himself with pride, holding the lance close to him.
The final demon was Cerberus, though rather than a three-headed dog, this canine had the body of a lion save for its face. And the tail was quite thick too, slowly moving, almost as if ready to smash something. Its fur was all white, and despite the menacing appearance, it did look comfortable.
Naoki turned back to Mavis and Zeref. "I can only summon three at a time. Anymore than that, and I get a headache."
"And it would just tamper with our performance," added Pixie, flying and landing on Naoki's head. "A four-man group is better any way. Last thing we need is to trip over each other."

"Interesting ability," Zeref replied. The main difference between what Naoki just did and Zeref's Living Magic is that there seemed to be no limit to what Zeref could create; once an Etherious was summoned, it remained fully autonomous, unless Zeref reverted them back to their book form. Some of them even formed their own guild. Naoki's magic seemed to be similar to what Zeref was capable of, albeit on a much smaller scale.
The way he described the summoning limit, it sounded very similar to the same kind of limit that applied to Celestial Spirit Mages. The most any Celestial Spirit Mage has ever been capable of summoning were three Zodiac Keys at once, and all of them were members of the Heartfilia family. That many spirits at once was an enormous drain on a mage's magic reserves, and could even be fatal if they proved incapable of handling it. And by all accounts, Lucy has only gotten stronger since she managed to summon three at once.
Zeref said nothing more. He wasn't a member of Fairy Tail, and while Mavis may value his opinion, it ultimately wasn't up to him. She was the guild's master. This was her call and her call alone.
Open
It was still kind of early for eating, so she's going to sit around somewhere in the bar area, playing a folklorish song on her tin whistle at a pace one could dance to.
She wasn't aware there was a visitor to Fairy Haven.]
Re: Open
Sounds really good. Where did you learn it?
no subject
She put down her tin whistle.]
Many thanks, stranger. This one I wrote myself. Do you play too?
no subject
Not really. Just a guy who has been separated from a lot of good stuff for what feels like an eternity.
[Now if only he cou ld find better clothing and afford It, especially due to the horn on his neck.]

[Don't mind her. Elins like to joke about poison. Even if it does happen as pranks.
Even if the horn is visible, Tatlyn won't judge. Have you seen the Amani or Castonics? Those are some seriously horned-up mother fu-]
I'm Tatlyn, by the way. The guild's resident healer. You here for a check-up? Or just browsing?
