[ It only takes waking in her pod for Madoka to realize something is up. She's a singular existence again, with hands that can pull her out of the pod and a body that gets wet... and really cold. The white dress she is wearing doesn't have sleeves and she's got no shoes. Her hair is down and she doesn't have the ribbons that were given to Homura, but she has the necklace and communication device.

She takes a few quiet minutes to absorb her surroundings. The shift from omnipotence to being clueless again is rather refreshing. Despite learning she's been taken from her home, Madoka isn't very panicked. She has no doubt her contract is being honored. After all, it's already completed. ]

Um... Hello, everyone. This is so strange. I'm sorry if I seem a little bit dazed. I never expected something like this might happen to me.

My name is Madoka... Kaname. [She hesitates on her surname, then shakes her head.] I just got here and I'm already going to be a bother... Where can I buy clothes here? I'm a bit cold. [She's wearing a sleeveless white dress, and is clearly not dressed for early spring.]

[With her body so cold that she can feel it, despite her soul gem, Madoka does head off to find shelter. Madoka will eventually navigate to a coffee shop, but stop herself at the door. She is eyeing the "no shoes, no service" sign with a distressed expression.]

Oh no... What do I do? I can't go in there with no shoes-- [She sneezes and hugs her bare arms.] I miss my uniform... And I can't exactly borrow anyone's shoes, huh..?

Magical girl... you mean, a mage? Don't worry, several of us are, here. Myself included. { ... not exactly what she means by that, Zeref. } If you're worried about that, come to Fayren. The vast majority of magic users can be found here, including an entire guild of them.

Fayren? Is that where I would be needed the most?

[Madoka tries to organize her thoughts. Mages? She knows that term from fantasy stories, too. Maybe it does suit her, sort of? But more importantly:]

And well. You see... It's complicated, a bit. [She holds out her hand and turns her soul gem into its egg form.] I need a way to purify this. It's going to get darker over time and that could be really dangerous. I... Well... It's a lot to explain.

Not necessarily any moreso than any of the other cities, but it was just a suggestion based on you saying you use magic.

{ Zeref narrows his eyes at the crystal. He's never seen anything like it before, but the way she describes it... ah. It's that kind of magic. }

I'm afraid I can't help with that. { If anything, he'd just corrupt it faster... and he wouldn't risk using Law on it. That'd probably be overkill, and there's no guarantee it would even work. } What, exactly, is it? What is making it grow darker?

I see...

And no worries. There's got to be a way. [If nothing else, she knows her wish will come into play.] It's my soul gem. The source of my magic. Unfortunately, it darkens over time just from me being alive. It'll get worse if I start fighting.

[Which Madoka sounds quite conflicted about, since;] I don't necessarily like fighting, though! Back home, magical girls fight witches-- Wraths now, and we use them to purify our soul gems. And I know I'm small, but I'm pretty strong, so...

[She would feel bad if she just stood on the sidelines. Madoka has been on the sidelines and letting others fight her battles for too long now.]

'Soul gem?' { Wow. He's never heard of anything like it before, and if it's really that dangerous... that sounds like quite a price to pay for power of any kind. }

Witches... yes, there are plenty of those, here, particularly in Fayren and Everglade. Though I've not heard of a 'wrath.' { Of course, he doesn't realize that witches in her world are a very specific type of creature, and not just a generic term for 'female mage.' } Believe me, I know better than most not to judge one's power based on appearance.

{ Just look at Mavis. She's Fayren's Guardian - and Fairy Tail's founder and current master - for a reason. }

[Madoka is swift to catch on. He's probably using the term differently.]

The witches of my world were... monsters. No, that's not fair to them. They were just... [She shakes her head, dropping the subject.] There shouldn't be any here, or I'd have been here already. Unless that's why I appeared here.

Anyway. If my soul gem turns black, it will hatch into one of those witches. I-I should be able to take care of it, but... I really would rather it never came to that here.

... I see. { She needn't continue. He's much more familiar with that kind of dynamic than he'd like to be. }

There are several people here with the ability to 'purify' things, but I'll admit that this is the first time I've ever heard of anything like a 'soul gem.' This is quite outside of my field of expertise. I don't know if their abilities would be able to help you, but if it truly is that dire of a situation, it can't hurt to try.

Really? If I could meet them, then that would be wonderful. You're right. Trying is better than nothing.

[Madoka knows a lot about trying vs nothing now.] If I'm able to purify it, I may be useful around here. I can transform and use magic... Primarily, I'm an archer. I really don't want to be an observer if help is needed, you know?

Transform? Into what, exactly?

[Okay, she realizes that sounds silly. Especially when he probably doesn't know what a magical girl is. Those are girls' comics!]

It's easier to use my magic when I transform into my... battle armor? I get stronger and faster, and more resilient?

Oh, so you're like Erza, then. { ... not exactly. } In that case, there should be plenty to do, here, once you've managed to find a solution to the soul gem problem.

I'm not the only one here who does, though I suspect I've had a much longer time to study it than most, here. { It's not meant to sound like bragging. It's just a fact; he's got a few centuries on most of the others here. } I admit, if your magic is what you say it is, it sounds interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing it for myself, sometime.

{ It sounds like a particularly convoluted form of Requip, but one that depends upon an external source, much like Star Dress. But there was more to it than that; if it could truly become corrupted and lead to the birth of a monster, then why take the risk at all? Madoka certainly didn't strike him as the type of person who would willingly take that kind of risk just for the sake of gaining power. And if witches truly were so dangerous, why not just, you know, not become Magical Girls in the first place?
