Good evening, ladies and gentleman, non binary, tri binary, quaoelf'ka and insert preference here-- for those of you who are unaware I'm headlining a concert in Nova City on the tenth. Unfortunately, my opening act has bowed out and-- while I could leave it to the talent agency, I thought I'd give the talented people here a go. If you're interested I'll be auditioning in Attleton University auditorium from tomorrow until the ninth. You'll be compensated for your time.

For those dying to attend, the show is sold out, but I have a few extra gratis tickets that I will give to my niece, Mimi to distribute as she sees fit. [of course he hasn't exactly told her about this yet, but sometimes he does things out of order]

Well, I do have a fondness for breaking and entering and sneaking, as you well know. Next time there's always that. You've an open invitation for breaking into my house whenever you'd like, my love.

[Of course, being as it's an open invitation it's not quite breaking and entering, but that's neither here nor there when it all comes down to it. It's about making him feel welcome here.]

And there's several extra flats, so no one would even notice.

[none of this is satisfying. Firstly he knows and secondly there's absolutely no fun in sneaking in somewhere no one was going to notice. But neither of them could do anything about it so might as well let it go]

Anyway, I'll be right up. I'll even use the front door.

[and when he stands in front of it murmurs to himself]

How novel. [a thrill a minute. He goes in and up to meet her, bottle of wine in one hand and holding something very ostentatiously behind his back in the other]

[Someone is very, very amused at the fact that he used the novel front door. It was still funny to her how the front door would be considered such a thing, because even for River herself it was. Idly, she considered offering him her vortex manipulator so that he could just pop up whenever he wanted to.

There was of course every chance that he'd be as bad at driving that as he was at everything else, but it would give him the chance to pop in wherever he liked!

But for now, his bespoke psychopath was currently eyeing the hand behind his back.]

What's this then?

[he would probably enjoy playing around with one though. If it were offered.]

Well I just thought that since you gave a heart so generously to give your mother and the Great Gonzo a place to live-- [he comes round behind her and slips a pendant around her neck. On the back has their names engraved very finely in circular Gallifreyan] --I'd give you one in return.

[he kisses her shoulder lightly]

[It that moment, something rare happens. So rare that the Doctor can probably count it on the hand of one incarnation of himself: Professor River Song, flirt extraordinaire (especially when it comes to her husband) is completely speechless. In fact, it's not unlike a moment in her future and his past when she's quiet on Darillium with him. However, unlike that River, she does at least remember that he has given her at least one thing: the blue diary that marked their life together. Along with the being silent, there's someone cutting onions around them, because River's eyes are luminous with unshed tears before she leans over and catches his cheek with her hand and presses her lips to it.]

[he's surprised into speechlessness by her silence. It's not a large thing nor even a particularly expensive thing, at least not for him. And certainly nothing she couldn't steal for herself. So why she's so touched by it he hasn't the faintest. But he's pleased even if a part of him wants to defer it with humor and duck out the window.

But that part of him isn't the current part of him so he remains where he is and smiles at the cheek kiss, then shifts to lift her chin and give her a proper kiss, lingering even, before slipping her hand onto his shoulder and pulling her into a slow dance]

Well, River Song, whatever shall we get up to.

[polyandrist]

I think the only actual present you've given me before was my diary.

[Which she also understood that he gave her because of the fact that she had already had it. In her mind, possible paradoxes didn't really count as presents (save when creating them saved the man who loved's life) so this was something different. It was something that she would remember when she touched the necklace, and River held it up to her neck before leaning forward so that he would b able to close the chain around her neck.]

[guitar_hero]

[he does so lovingly]

That should change you know. [he murmurs this in her ear] You need more love than you get, River Song and I'm sorry I didn't give it to you.

[polyandrist]

[River is just going to grin at this, and her eyes sparkle a little bit.]

Well, that's one good thing about this place. We've got all the time in the world to make things up to one another.

[guitar_hero]

[he smiles at that, stroking his fingers along her neck]

Oh you've nothing to make up to me, River Song. I'm entirely in your debt.

[polyandrist]

Careful, my love those sound like words that could lead to me taking you down and doing something incredibly dangerous.

[Rather like flirting in fact, because honestly, that's what River's thinking of doing, and reminding him he was in her debt whenever he started to get unhappy. But she probably wouldn't, not with how happy she looks at the moment.]

[guitar_hero]

That's how I know you love me. You know just what I like. [he taps her nose playfully, then kisses it, then kisses her.]

So what now, pretty Song. What sort of mischief shall we get up to?

[polyandrist]

Well, I do have a few ideas, sweetie, if we can put aside the idea of Mario Kart.

[River just grins at him and traces her fingers along the underside of his chin for a moment before she kisses him.]

[guitar_hero]

Are you sure? [he returns the kiss and gives her another, deeper this time]

You should see what I can do with my thumbs. [he slips his hands round her waist and strokes said thumbs back and forth]

Well. I do know how brilliant all of you happens to be...

[There's no smallness in her smirk when she reaches up and wraps her arms around his neck, molding herself to him and tucking into all of the places where she fits best.]

[guitar_hero]

[and it's perfect. For a moment he's just in contented bliss. No witty sayings or sparkling remarks. Just him and River Song. He hums a chord to himself and noses her hair, smiling against it-- and then after a moment:]

I'm sure you've got a thing or two to show me, too. I am your humble servant.

[polyandrist]

You keep saying things like that, husband of mine, and you're going to give a girl a fair bit of ideas...

[River just kissed him then, one hand on the back of his neck and the other carding through his hair.]

[guitar_hero]

[he leans into the touch, giving a short appreciative hum at the hand in his hair and absently caresses her lower back with the tips of his fingers]

Good. Get ideas. Surprise me. Take me out with your wicked smile and your bold stare. [he kisses her deeply] It's never better than when I don't see it coming.

[polyandrist]

[River just chuckles against his lips when he's finished talking, because oh, sweetie you have no idea what you've just done. Or, well, he probably has some idea. He knows her better than any of the others.]

Really? Does that mean you've stopped seeing it coming, my love?

[guitar_hero]

[he just grins. Maybe you ought to find out]
