Rainy Day [Action] [OTA]
Following a certain conversation with a certain droid, Obi-Wan was left reeling. Much like he had been with the news of his Master's death. Except this time, the news at the entire Jedi Order being exterminated, is a much deeper and more profound pain.
At first he was in shock, completely caught off guard. Then there was the denial. It couldn't possibly be true. There was no way the Jedi could be completely eradicated from the galaxy. But his sense of reason eventually won out, and he knew that the probability that the droid was lying was almost none. Then followed a deep sorrow and depression.
After several of his Pokemon disappeared, Obi-Wan decided to retreat to the forests of Fayren. Seeking a peaceful environment to think and to meditate. It was the only thing he could think to do. There would be no comfort in seeking the people from his galaxy. Most of which were strangers or he barely knew. With one exception of course. But no... he was not ready to talk about it.
Thus he placed himself in the hollow of an old tree, sitting there in silence for days. The rain falling all around him. His cloak pulled around him and his hood pulled over his head. The tree only providing partial protection from the elements. But he didn't much care. In his arms, a small green fairy-like creature was nestled in, making comforting cooing sounds.
During that time, there was complete radio silence from Obi-Wan. Nor any sign of him.
Eventually though, he realized he couldn't just sit there forever. Though he was just as lost as before, only finding minimal comfort and strength from the Force and his Pokemon. He finally would appear wandering the streets of Fayren in the cold rain. Though he didn't seem all that concerned. His Celebi taking shelter under his wet hood. Large blue eyes peeking out from behind his braid.

Despised it.
And yet here she was, stuck with her Pichu nuzzled on her head as she held the umbrella up in Fayren. She was checking out the different magic stores on her day off, exploring more places around Genessia.
Until she looked ahead and saw beautiful Disney-blue eyes peeking from behind a dark hood. It made her breath hitch, but a frown immediately overcame her.
She had almost decided to walk in the other direction to avoid him, but groaned. Her umbrella was big enough.
Arelen walked towards the figure, extending her umbrella to cover both of them.
"Isn't it a little cold to be moping out the rain?"
no subject
His Celebi also reaching out a hand from his hood before poking its head out. Biii?
There was a moment of silence though, and while he probably should thank her, he instead decided to reply to the question.
"Probably."
no subject
She waited for a sort of response almost impatiently. Her Pichu tilting his head at him and Celebi.
"Unless you're made of water and ice, you might get sick. Believe me, you don't want that."
no subject
"Thank you."
There, finally a word of gratitude.
"Jedi don't get sick," he said with a hint of indignation. Jedi are certainly tougher than your average person, but he's totally BSing.
"... What's coffee?"
no subject
"What's a jed- you know what? I'm not going to ask." Then a look, blinking.
"Wait... you don't know what coffee is?! Jeeze, another weird one." Her eyes rolled, and she nodded in the direction of the coffee shop.
"It's the only non-alcoholic drink that makes life bearable, and you seem to be in need of something like that." Finally she gave him a small amused smile, "I'm Arelen. I take it you're pretty new here?"
no subject
"Or perhaps you're the weird one if that is so common."
But a drink that's non-alcoholic and makes life bearable does sound appealing. So he will definitely go along with it.
"I'm Obi-Wan, and yes, relatively. I've been here for about a standard month or so."
no subject
But then again, Obi-Wan here was younger than the man he had grown to know and if Anakin was to notice anything about his teacher then it was just how much he had changed over the years, now that he was faced with the man's younger self.
At the very least Obi-Wan couldn't hide very well from him. Their connection through the Force was mostly one-sided at this point, but for Anakin even this ghost of a connection was sufficient to know where to look if he wanted to find the other. So when he noticed that familiar presence shifting about again, Anakin finally decided to find his young master.
"So what were you brooding about?" he called out to the cloaked man before him as he gradually caught up. Anakin wore his own cloak, but didn't bother with its hood despite the weather.
no subject
The young Jedi seemed to be in his own world as he walked around, though he did manage to sense the presence of another Force sensitive approaching. A small sigh escaping him as he realized who it was.
"I'm not brooding," he said in weak protest.
At that moment, his Celebi peeked out at Anakin, blinking its large blue eyes. It was then that they would hear the Pokemon's voice telepathically.
He's sad.
no subject
"Yeah, I can see that." to whom exactly he was directing that reply may not have been entirely sure. But he went one, now actually lifting a hand to point at the other Jedi.
"I know you have been... Sulking or whatever for the past few days. So what's wrong?"
He may not have been a Jedi Master by title, but at least Anakin had his own experiences with a Padawan by now.
no subject
"You won't leave me alone until I tell you, will you?"
While there was irritation lacing his voice, it was also... thoughtful he supposed. That someone actually did care. But then... if he's supposed to be Anakin's master eventually, that shouldn't be hard to believe. Right? He hoped that was the case. He has no idea what their relationship will be like.
"There was a droid. It said it was from the future, and that the galaxy is enslaved by Chancellor Palpatine. It mentioned you were upset about that as well."
There was a pause before he continued, the young man obviously trying to hold back some emotion.
"And... he mentioned that the Jedi are exterminated."
no subject
"Kaytoo." he said knowingly, a frown settling on his face.
"He told me of this as well. And some others confirmed his story. Palpatine... In my time he's Supreme Chancellor of our galaxy. And he's a close friend of mine." Anakin paused a moment, then shook his head "I couldn't believe what I was told, but then I learned that he had been here some time ago and tracked down a post he made on the network."
Anakin pulled forth his own communicator and with only a few taps called up the aforementioned post and selecting a specific conversation before holding the device out to Obi-Wan.
"Palpatine literally confirms it all here. That the Jedi are gone and that he's come to rule the Galaxy as its Emperor. I.... I trusted him. But I guess my trust was misplaced..."
He didn't go on just then, but waited for Obi-Wan to take all those information in.
no subject
When Anakin pulled up the post though, he took it from him and quietly looked it over. His shoulders drooping just a bit more as what he saw seemed to be undeniable proof of what the droid had said.
Handing the device back to Anakin, he just pulled his wet cloak around him again and said nothing for several moments. But eventually he spoke, just barely above a whisper.
"I can't believe this happens. How could the Jedi be wiped out like that?"
He also came to realize that this previous assumption that this must have happened when he was an old man, wasn't right. Palpatine was old himself and if he was still alive... well.
no subject
Anakin took his communicator back and pocketed it. He didn't like any of this either, but his own approach to dealing with these news seemed to be vastly different than the one Obi-Wan had come to take.
"I don't want to believe it either, but I won't ignore this potential future - Or let myself be discouraged by it. Instead I've tried to learn as much as possible and I joined a group that is researching this world. Part of that research entails finding a way to keep our knowledge once we go back." as there were others wanting to do so.
"For all I know the Force may just have brought us here for that: To learn and make a difference. And I'll rather try that than wait for the Jedi as a whole to be destroyed."
no subject
"A Sith Lord?!"
The Sith hadn't been seen in a very long time. He knew now that the being they had encountered on Naboo was on. But Palpatine? He hadn't yet surmised that was what he must be until that moment. But rather just a corrupt politician.
"How could they have not seen it?"
It just boggled his mind completely. The Council especially should have known. Should have foreseen it. Should have seen through Palpatine and his lies. Obi-Wan just shook his head in disbelief.
"This is too much to take in."
His hope and vision for his future was just crumbling all around him.
no subject
"I know it's a lot. But we're Jedi for a reason, aren't we?" Anakin replied with a short gesture of his hand "And Qui-Gon wouldn't want you to give up only because the future might look grim."
Might. It wasn't set in stone. That's what Anakin believed. That's what Master Yoda taught them.
no subject
"We are not Jedi to be kidnapped and taken to other worlds only to learn of a dismal future that includes our extinction."
The young man huffs and looks away. Though there's pause at the mention of Qui-Gon. His expression softening a bit and turning sad.
"I never said I was giving up."
He was allowed to grieve wasn't he?
no subject
Those words were accompanied by Anakin making a wide gesture with his arms and hands this time before he quickly stepped forward to stand right in Obi-Wan's way, facing the Padawan.
"The future is always in motion, right? You learned that as well. Just as there's always multiple futures happening at the same time. You and I, we may not even share the same future! And yet both of us might be here to do something about our respective ones. You might end up saving Master Jinn!"
no subject
"I suppose I hadn't thought about it like that."
Yes he knew Master Yoda's teachings, but this was a very different situation where they were taken out of time itself seemingly. But could the Force have brought them there to change the future? Was it possible?
"Do you really think that's possible?"
There were some doubts nagging at the back of his mind, though his hope wanted to win out. That almost seemed too good to be true.
no subject
As far as Anakin was concerned, the possibilities were endless and he wouldn't let himself be discouraged easily.
"That's why I joined the GSRF here. So we can find out more and even find solutions."
no subject
"Just because one out of the ordinary occurrence might be true, does not mean that another is. I never would have thought this was possible, but that doesn't mean anything is."
It seemed rather far fetched to him, despite the fact that he wanted to believe it. But the mention of the GSRF did pique his interest a bit.
"What is this GSRF?"
no subject
Apparently even this great Jedi he knew had once been full of doubts, insecurities and a habit to question almost everything. Which was something Anakin would keep in mind - For later use.
"Well, to me it's not the first time to be dragged into some strange dimension. I'm just glad that this planet and the beings living here are nothing like that Mortis place." he countered, then shrugged at Obi-Wan's question.
"Genessia Science and Research Foundation. I was asked to help out as explorer and party protection. The plan is to further explore and research this planet. And one planned goal is to find a way to ensure we can keep our memories of this place." So of course he agreed.

Because of that, when Obi-Wan finally moved and Dray happened to see him leave the forest, curiosity go the best of him and he followed the Jedi.
no subject
Eventually though, that does change.
"I know you're there," he then speaks up.
no subject
Oh well, so much for trying to be subtle. He's usually more sneaky than this. Dray walks into view, or rather, moves into view. He's still moving in all fours.
"I saw you in the forest these last days, I was wondering if you were okay. Humans don't usually do that."
no subject
His observation though drew pause from the young man.
"I just needed some time alone," he admitted quietly.
no subject
"Ah. It's dangerous to do that in the forest, there's a lot of creatures there that don't like to have their territory invaded. Are you feeling better now?"
no subject
"Thank you for your concern, but I promise I can handle myself."
It was then that his Celebi peeked out from under his hood, blinking large blue eyes at Dray. But as far as feeling better... his gaze tilted away a bit.
"Not really, I'm afraid."
no subject
When he spotted the pokemon and mostook it for something else, Dray's ears went up and his attention was immediately sidetracked. "Are you trying to steal a fairy? And I'm sorry. Maybe you need to talk about whats bothering you, if thinking about it didn't help."
no subject
The deputy wore her usual leather jack with a dark umbrella resting on her shoulder. Vibrant blue eyes caught sight of Obi-Wan though she didn't recognize him until she stepped closer. She tilted her umbrella as she came closer, offering a bit to the wandering Jedi. Enis didn't mind the rain but she knew that he pokemon didn't like being wet, so she couldn't simply offer him the umbrella.
"You look wet." She's a master at pointing out the obvious.
"I'm heading to the Dancing Doner. Why not come with me?" He'd be able to dry off and there were rooms above it if he needed a bath or something. Enis can tell that something must be wrong but she felt awkward prying. "You look like you need a drink too."
no subject
His Celebi also peeking out of his hood to look at the Plusle and Minun, calling out a greeting to them and waving.
"I feel like I need one too," he admitted. Jedi didn't drink all that often but well, and it was generally frowned upon, but well. He had indulged on occasion. So he will definitely be following Enis.
no subject
Even annoying yellow mice like electric things.
It wasn't far and when they reached the bar Enis pushed open the door so the pokemon and her companion could duck inside first. Once they were in she closed the umbrella and slipped in behind them.
no subject
His Pokemon also took the opportunity to zip out from under his hood. The little green creature hovering as it looked around with wide blue eyes. It then began to flit around, curiously peering at every little thing that caught it's interest.
"Biiiii!"
Watching the Celebi for a moment, Obi-Wan then took a look around himself.
"Quaint."
no subject
She planned to treat him since he looked do terribly out of shape. Money was something that Enis had though she had no idea how that managed to happen.
Once the waitress was away she looked over towards her companion, her vibrant blue eyes curious but weary.
"I'm going to break one of my usual rules and ask what's wrong." She's met him once before and it's obvious that he's out of sorts now.
